I have enjoyed making my Florence jacket and am very pleased with the result. Thanks so much for the video If I could just offer some suggestions for future videos: 1) Use a jacket fabric with an obvious right and wrong side. 2) Use a lining fabric that's a contrasting colour 3) Wear something that is a different colour than the project This would make the video much easier to follow. I’m really tempted to make these at the sewing retreat with you next June! I’m just waiting to see how these might look on my short and very chunky frame though. Wow - just fabulous! I’ve finished my toile of the Florence skirt and, despite making it in a very unsuitable firm cotton fabric, I’m really pleased. The gathers were challenging due to the thickness of the fabric as much as anything - snapping one of the basting threads at one point. 😩 But I guess you can’t buy experience! The fit was perfect and frankly, my zip was a thing of beauty! 🤣🤣. Your video was clear and although you say it may appear that you put in extra steps, what it did mean was that I didn’t make lots of mistakes and spend ages unpicking (well apart from my messed up gathering but that was my fault entirely). The tips around putting in a zip and gathering properly were really useful and the pressing, pinning and checking throughout really paid off. I’ve already cut out my fabric for the real version- a drapey ish brightly coloured rayon (I think) and I can’t wait to sew it. Although, I plan to play the whole video again and not cut any corners, promise. 😃. Thank you so much for this video.

I agree that hemming is better before gathering! Also hemming with baste stitches! Great video! Will be making the skirt soon.
