a look at the RCA CC009 color vidicon camera made in 1981. the footage is a direct capture of the camera, and the video it produces looks very nice. i really love how vidicon tubes look. how am i powering everything out in the wild? i am using a huge heavy 12 volt Duracell battery, going into a power inverter that converts the 12 volts DC into 120V AC, and has two power outlets that I can plug ...

    The plug in lens has an automated iris that adjusts itself to the average picture level automatically. It would also provide power for a motorized zoom feature. The optical viewfinder may have a VCR record, low light, and low battery indicator lamps that may not work without the appropriate VCR. The IR cut filter is not necessarily needed, but if you in the vicinity of a strong IR source, it may upset the color. Might be a cool effect. But, probably not. The green artefacts seem to occur when you quickly move the camera around. This is because the signal developed by the striped filters is changing while it is being processed. Those systems only work well on stationary or slow moving subjects. That they work at all is miraculous. The 14 pin jack is called a CCJ (I believe, if my old memory isn't failing me too much...) Thanks for another fantastic video!

    Love the pictures from your RCA camera and great video demonstration on how you set up to go mobile. There is now an even more convenient way to go mobile with these cameras with less equipment, Max Vega has well demonstrated this in his videos on his channel www.youtube.com/@MaxVegaKun/videos . He pretty much modded his old VHS cameras to be simply powered by a 12V lithium ion battery pack and record straight to a tiny mini DVR recorder. I have personally followed suit and modded my Sharp XC-54 camera that way. But then I figured so I am not butchering the camera cable I simply use a female camera plug and adapt wires to feed the A/V out to the mini DVR and 12V to the battery, here's my video demonstrating this th-cam.com/video/Ak7WLlpg0xg/w-d-xo.html . I have however discovered with the Panasonic range of cameras from the early to mid 80s that they can't fire up this way for some reason, so they might need a trigger signal as well to help them power up, so if you do decide to try my and Max's method with the RCA camera and it don't power up then it will need some kind of trigger signal, I haven't yet confirmed this as I need to test that idea out.

    Great video totally enjoyed it, love the hazy magenta tone picture it gives when you did the remote footage, from an artistic perspective it makes excellent video art and I can imagine bands wanting to hire your camera for that effect! 😉That camera enclosurewise looks similar to a Panasonic WV-3000. I personally have a National WV-3030N which also looks like your camera, made a number of videos from it, here's one of Sydney Harbour which I was filming from one of the pylons on Sydney Harbour Bridge th-cam.com/video/rJA6g_dZLko/w-d-xo.html . Incidentally I recently fired up that camera and it is now making a lousy picture so I think the capacitors in mine are stuffed too, will try and warm it up and see if it too comes good.

      hi thanks for asking! watched the video and it seems like the system i use would be more Easy and faster, and there would be no disassembly or modifications, which i personally wouldn't want to do to one of my cameras. a cloner alliance is going to produce higher quality video and offers a lot of different features, and records to a USB stick instead of a digital video cassette. if you try to modify a camera like the guy in the video, you run the risk of it not working and then you might have destroyed the camera and that would be hard to sell/fix /get rid of. if you buy a cloner alliance and you don't like it, then you can just return it. here's the link to cloner alliance box pro which is what i use to capture video. www.cloner-alliance.com/cloneralliance-box-pro/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1srexrzuiAMVoUT_AR3eSi9xEAQYASABEgKHIfD_BwE

      I'm pretty sure it has an IR filter. I've messed around with the red and blue dials, and have got it to look pretty good, but it changes some times. every time i turn the camera on, i have to adjust the colors a little. the reason why it looks red in the outdoor shots is that since the camera has a black and white viewfinder, when I'm outdoors and i don't have a color monitor, i can't see the colors, so i can't adjust them.

    Hi nice to see this camera in action. My model is dead and not drawing any amps. I cant see an internal fuse, infact the DC 12v input is conected directly to what looks like the pickup tube board. No power up from the camera conectimg port on rhe back either. Wondered if you had any ideas or experience with this model as Icannot find a service manual. Thanks in advance.

      Hey-thanks for asking. I watch your videos, they are great! When I got mine, it already produced a picture and was fully functional. I did have to replace the infrared filter because it had rotted out and the picture was really foggy. Maybe check that your power supply is putting out 12v? I am pointing to the red and orange wires that come from the 12VDC input jack. I agree, it looks like it's connected to the pickup tube board. try removing the shield on the other side of this board, powering up the camera, and testing with a voltmeter at these orange and red wires for 12V. I found the pinout for a trinicon tube, and uploaded it to that dropbox folder. there is a yellow wire coming from the tube, which appears to be -V. I can't tell which tube wire is +V, but it's pin 9 of the tube. hopefully this can at least help you tell if the camera is getting power or not.

    Hey. Nice video you've got here! Good to see a fellow tube camera enthusiast on youtube. I've first seen your videos while searching for information on VC-305 but since comments are disabled on that one I'm leaving a comment here. I'm looking to purchase a VC-305 up on ebay but they don't seem to have their power supplies included in them and they seem to use weird proprietary connectors for both power and composite out.. do you have the power supply?

    • @VHSLAND724
      @VHSLAND724 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks! the vc-305 does not use a proprietary connector. the connector it uses is called an EIAJ connector, which is a universal connector that was used on hundreds of video cameras from the late 60s to the late 80s. i have several of these power supplies and they are not hard to find. you can just search on ebay "EIAJ power supply" and you will find lots of them. as for composite video out, most of the older power supplies from the 70s have a big connector that has a thread, this is called a UHF connector. some of the newer power supplies from the 80s just have regular RCA out, but if your stuck with the UHF connector then you can buy a UHF to RCA adapter. if you are going to buy this camera i will warn you because when i bought this camera i thought i was getting a really old and rare camera, and when i got it i realized that it was very poorly made, so poorly made that the microphone completely fell apart! it does not have an electronic viewfinder and when i turned it on and plugged it into a monitor i got no video out of the camera at all. i do not buy cameras from brands that I'm not familiar with anymore. they're usually lower quality.

    • @jangbi08
      @jangbi08 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VHSLAND724 Thanks so much for the information. I’ll have to do my research on EIAJ power supplies! As regarding the low build quality, I do have several other tube cameras (including a bulky 3 tube model) already and I was just looking for a cheap BW one that I can play with & modify. Looks like there’s a lot of unused space inside the VC-305 according to your video so it’s actually perfect for my purposes. Just hope mine will turn on 😂

      @@VHSLAND724 Hi again! I've tried to locate the power supplies that you've mentioned ("EIAJ power supply" ) but I have failed to find any results with that keyword. Can you specify the keywords I might search for? Thanks again.

    • @VHSLAND724
      @VHSLAND724 ปีที่แล้ว

      @jangbi08 i did some searching on ebay for power supplies and the search terms that worked for me are "vintage RCA EIAJ camera power supply." also, good news! after you mentioned the vc-305 i decided to get the camera out again to try to diagnose the problem of the camera not making a picture. i disassembled it and inspected the two circuit boards and found the problem. the problem was cracked solder joints on the circuit board. the connector for the wire to the target of the vidicon tube had completely gone cold. all i had to do was re-flow the solder joints for the connector and a few other solder joints on the board which i noticed were cracked. i tested it, and the camera is now outputting a black and white picture! all it took was a half an hour and the camera is now working great. I've found a power supply listing that will work with the vc-305. if you want to check that out: www.ebay.com/itm/275953057027?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20221115143614%26meid%3D1699684211f447c8a875021331752b3a%26pid%3D101616%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D275953057027%26itm%3D275953057027%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4375194%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2SignedOut%26brand%3DQuasar&_trksid=p4375194.c101616.m5481&_trkparms=parentrq%3A4316a49118a0ad919afbabd5fffffa4a%7Cpageci%3Ab8110132-46ae-11ee-8b89-8e4f6145ce69%7Ciid%3A1%7Cvlpname%3Avlp_homepage
