I had the same idea amd i saw you use that long metal rod. What is it called ? Vinyl fence heaved up with cement in florida. Many hurricanes since u moved here 2020.i know how to build them no problem but fixing a heaved fence is new to me. Also I'm an amateur diy home owner.

Another good idea for a video is how to deal with those cheap brackets that constantly break with the frost heaves and with every wind storm. Must be a better diy way to keep the panels in place.

I'm about to undertake the same job. Vinyl white fence that has heaved and sunk. So your video really helps me understand what to do. My question is what did you do to the hole once you were all leveled up? Fill in with dirt? Concrete? Rock for drainage? I live in Minnesota your in Michigan so what you did should work for me? Thanks for taking the time to post. Lol! Sorry that just came out like that. You are the only Vinyl fence video I could find.

Great video straight to the point. I have 1 post sitting slightly slanted gate side. You gave me the willpower to fix it without chipping the old concrete

Like most of us DIY'ers, you improvised. Good for you.

I have a badly heaved post that is making the adjoining post sink a bit. Was here when I moved in. I don't know if it is dirt-set or cement-set. Either way, I guess I have to start digging. *At first I thought the same thing about where you tamped it down but then I used logic. Your video was very helpful. I'm in Michigan too.

How about showing us beating the post down

Ahhhh yes I took off the post caps. I used a post hole diggers and a frost bar to dig the hole and used the dirt removed to back fill the hole. I have no answer yet for sunken post. I currently have a sunken post that is irritating me, so “I’m thinking” of first installing my straight line to the adjacent posts then digging next to and chipping around the post to free it up then very gingerly put a 2x4 or something rigid under the panel closest to the post and with a floor jack put some upward force on it and let it set then ann a lil more pressure and be lazer focused on any distortion of the panel at the contact point of the 2x4. Maybe moving the post back and forth will help it move under the pressure applied and or you may need to chip away more dirt from the cement to free it up. This is all theory in my amateur home owner head. I’ll try to be more detailed in the future on my initial video post. Thanks for everyone’s feedback. Good luck in all you do snd stay safe.

Randy. Thank You for the refined apparently simpler approach, saran wrap who woulda thunk it. This is why I decided to make a video so folks such as yourself could chime in on a easier way. Thank you.

I belled out my deck posts, that was hard work during some hot days, they have never heaved. Looking to update and expand the deck and thinking of going with helicals. Cheers

I assume that you took off the post cap before tamping it down with your 2x4 and 5lb hammer...

Liked your comments and explanation. But your video / Camera was focusing on the fence most of the time instead of the job at hand. At the end you didn't explain with what to dig the holes with or what material / cement ? to fill it in. But you did say at the beginning that you were an armature..

I love your video! I put up a vinyl fence 2 years ago that has heaved up 3 inches already. I'm 34, F, living in Kansas. Your video was open, honest and detailed. I enjoyed watching a video (especially TH-cam) with a REAL person. I will now be sweating as I dig up my grass... again. Any other videos- regular guy doing home projects- would be much appreciated. Thank you so much!!!

Been looking all day to figure out how to match up the actuator gear to blend door. Will attempt this weekend! Thanks man!

Boy O boy... on the driver side I only had to take off the felt footer piece and the bottom heater duct. Reached my hand up there with the torx 20 on the end of a very small box wrench held together with saran wrap. Unscrewed the 2 torx screws.

Brilliant idea! I have frost-heaved deck posts. Maybe your method will work.
