Any part of a symbol or a symbol itself can represent anything to the psych. Very often I've found (both as a client and then later as a trained facilitator) that someone can approach the symbol shelf with only a vague idea of what they might want to work with and then find that some other content has popped up instead, so where possible my school of teaching encourages us not to label symbols a particular anything, instead allow whatever unfolds for the client to emerge. What I love about this modality is how self-regulated it is and how as the facilitator all I have to do is be present and let whatever unfolds emerge without any expectation. I've also found that symbols can change meaning as the sand play continues. It can become an unfolding conversation either between the client and the symbol or symbols with each other. In my own personal work I might have been non-resistant towards a particular symbol initially and then progressively notice an increase in my resistance to actually having it interact with other symbols. In this case the meaning of the symbol is starting to unfold it's true meaning to me what it brings of the shadow. I absolutely adore this modality, I was introduced to it in a week-long workshop back in 2002 I believe, I never looked back.
Did this quite a bit while in school in the 4th grade I belive...even as a 23 year old I still wanna do this just seems like am never in the right head space for it
I know that sand and water tables are great for promoting learning and helping with emotions but I didn't becoming a certified sand therapist was a career. Thanks for sharing.
Oh I like this way which can help me have a better connect with my student when I work at school as school psychologist. Hopefully, can you share to me a detailed guideline of "Sand play therapy?". Thank you <3
I do get the therapeutic attributes in sand. But I work with kids. I imagine all these figures to be rather confusing than helpful to the kids. Especially hyperactive kids. I imagine being a child and entering that room. I would be tempted to touch all of them and I find it very difficult to "decide" which one to pick. Can you please tell me more about the process of the "selection"? What happens at that point? What draws kids to certain figures and how do they deal with the overload of the presented choices!?
Not a profesional, but im pretty sure they allow the children to take more than one of them? Once i saw a therapist that made a video and gave an example of how children work with sand therapy and it was "Ma'am, im gonna need all of these for my tray!" as the child had their hands full, i guess as long as they fit in the tray they let them have them
@@Franzi.subs. It might work in a therapy setting but it doesn't work in a daycare or Kindergarden. Especially children that have an issue with impulse control and prioritizing their choices will be tempted to create a chaos or destroy toys and figures. In a sense it is a good thing to give them space and room to create chaos but it can also take away from the productive verbal and non verbal exchange that is necessary in this method. Most videos about sand play are very vage (about the selection process)! Especially in explaining what the figures mean etc. Thanks anyway
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo si bien construite. Je trouve les explications sur le jeu de sable et l'approche junguienne très claires. Très belle illustration aussi de la puissance du jeu de sable sur le plan neurologique. Merci encore !
The sandbox being blue is just a guideline, the blue can represent water, like an ocean or a river it is not a necessity though, the process is not realient on the color of the box. If you don't have a wooden box that is neat you should rather use a other container. You could use a plastice containter that is smaller, a cat litterbox (new) can work well.
Brilliant video explaining about Sandplay and how Sandplay supports Neural integration in the brain. It also explains how Sandplay helps the individual individuate as a person, and how engagement in Sandplay can change how you live your life.

How long is a sandplay session usually for?
I would love to do this
Excellent! Thank you!
The piano play is too loud and too distracting from this otherwise wonderful interview.
Fantastic video.

@@firouz4296 ah of course, all that ive seen is that sandplay is suposed to be only for therapy, could be wrong of course
@@Franzi.subs. I am interested in (and work in) the intersection of therapy and education!
@@firouz4296 Oh, that is super cool! Good luck with it! I hope you make some cool stuff

This was incredibly well explained ;)
What is the sand box is very damaged and warped and there is no more blue paint at the bottom? Does it still work?
