The day of reckoning did come. And boy, what a day it was! Team MBKS organized "Quizeeling 2024 - 2nd MBKS Inter-School Quiz Competition" yesterday at RKSP Boys' HS School, Darjeeling. The event saw participation from more than twenty two schools in and around Darjeeling and Sikkim. With Quizeeling 2024, we accomplished two of our primary objectives, i.e. promotion of Quality Education and Youth Empowerment.
Quizeeling 2024 comprised three levels namely: Prelims, Semi Finals, and the Grand Finals. The Prelims was an initial written round in which schools competed enthusiastically to answer twenty questions in twenty minutes.
The Preliminary round concluded with eighteen teams triumphantly securing their coveted spots in the competitive Semi-Finals (SFs). In each of the three gripping SFs, six teams participated in each of them, and the top two teams from each SFs advanced to compete for glory in the Grand Finals.
The pinnacle of Quizeeling 2024 was unquestionably the Grand Finals (GFs), where the brightest minds from the Hills and Sikkim engaged in an intense intellectual showdown. The competition featured creative rounds, that captivated both participants and the audience alike, including Quiz set in take your pick, buzzer, 4 pics 1 word, and an audio-visual segment format based on Informative Reels and Shorts format. These additions infused a sense of innovation and astonishment into the event.
After gruelling four rounds in the GFs, the Sikkim State Quiz Champion, Manjusri Public School, Temi, emerged victorious in a fiercely competitive arena with the esteemed "Quizeeling 2024" Championship title. Following a day filled with intense competition and intellectual challenges, the results of the GFs were as follows:
1) Manjusri Public School, Temi, Sikkim - Winner
2) Gyanoday Niketan, Darjeeling - First Runner-up
3) St. Paul's School, Darjeeling - Second Runner-up
4) Loreto Convent, Darjeeling - 4th Place
5) West Point School Darjeeling - 5th Place
6) St. Michael's Higher Secondary School, Darjeeling - 6th Place
The event went beyond being a simple competition. It evolved into a celebration of knowledge, innovation and diverse educational heritage of the Hills. It served as a powerful reminder that the quest for knowledge has limitless horizons and the talented youth of Darjeeling and Sikkim are primed for success not just in academia but in various other domains as well.
Dr. Bikash Dewan, the Chief Guest of the event, delivered a very powerful speech to the participants. He handed over the winning trophy to the Winners. We had a cash prize of rupees seven thousand, rupees five thousand and rupees three thousand for the Winner, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up respectively. We also had gift hampers sponsored by Mayukh Tea for the top three schools and books for each participant of the top three finalists by Mr. Rasik from Sonada. Team MBKS is thankful to Dr. Milan Tamang, Headmaster, RKSP, Boys' HS School; Mrs. Ranjana Pradhan, Headmistress, NGHS Girls' HS School; Mrs. Uma Sharma, Headmistress, Maharani Girl's High School and Mr. Rupesh Pradhan, Proprietor, Mayukh Tea for gracing the event as our Guests of Honour. We are also thankful to all the heads of participating schools, teachers, participants and various dignitaries in the audience who had nothing but praises for the Quizmaster of the day, Mr. Rahul Amulya Pradhan, President, MBKS Trust and the entire Team MBKS for putting up a wonderful quizzing extravaganza. Their messages and voice notes say it all.
