The six Cello Suites, BWV 1007 to 1012, are suites for unaccompanied cello by Johann Sebastian Bach. They are some of the most frequently performed and recognizable solo compositions ever written for cello. Bach most likely composed them during the period 1717-23, when he served as Kapellmeister in Köthen. The title given on the cover of the Anna Magdalena Bach manuscript was Suites à Violoncello Solo senza Basso (Suites for cello solo without bass).
These suites for unaccompanied cello are remarkable in that they achieve the effect of implied three- to four-voice contrapuntal and polyphonic music in a single musical line. As usual in a Baroque musical suite, each movement is based around a baroque dance type; the cello suites are structured in six movements each: prelude, allemande, courante, sarabande, two minuets or two bourrées or two gavottes, and a final gigue. The Bach cello suites are considered to be among the most profound of all classical music works. Wilfrid Mellers described them in 1980 as "Monophonic music wherein a man has created a dance of God."
Due to the works' technical demands, étude-like nature, and difficulty in interpretation because of the non-annotated nature of the surviving copies, the cello suites were little known and rarely publicly performed until they were revived and recorded by Pablo Casals in the early 20th century. They have since been performed and recorded by many renowned cellists, have also been transcribed for numerous other instruments, and are considered some of Bach's greatest musical achievements.
The prelude of the suite BWV 1007 in G major, consists mainly of arpeggiated chords, is probably the best known movement from the entire set of suites and is regularly heard on television and in films.

Dear Ana, thank you for your thoughtful instruction video. I am also a piano teacher and I have a student studying Alberti Bass right now and was looking for some online demonstations. However, you are recording in a reverberant room which is fabulous for music but there's so much reverb that your voice is very hard and indistinct to hear. Is there some way you could record your voice in a dry acoustical environment so that you can be clearly understood? Thank you so much.

I bought your CD of the popper Etudes and enjoy it very much. Every shift has four elements: Mass, Distance, Time and Movement. Your left hand even in the first example, moves ahead of the bow. In your final example you actually changed the bow when the finger was about 1/2way through the distance.

here's several ideas for how to learn piano Try practicing about 1 hour every day, or even half an hour if you have a busy schedule. Do extra practice whenever you have more time. For example, on weekends you could do more than an hour, maybe two or 3, or even more. This is helpful because it pulls you out of the routine of piano playing, and lets you practice more and perfects the pieces you play. (I learned about these and more on Denelle piano lesson site )
