We can. Depends on your immune system. Plenty of humans eat all kinds of questionable stuff and don’t die. Don’t go and test this on the mouldiest thing you can find just to prove me wrong (or do, thins the crap from the gene pool) but humans eat a far more diverse range of things than almost any other creature.

We can easily eat rotten fruit. When making wine, it is not necessary to remove the stuff at the top. It just tastes like rotten fruit.

Correction we can eat rotten meat even now as proven by people who went completly wild in america. There a family showed that if we eat raw meat instead of cooked the body adapts and we can eat small dosage of rotten meat, but its not recommended for even they sayd that your only supposed to eat fresh meat or preserved meat since humans are not vulteres, were more like predators who eat our kills.(FRESH MEAT) So saying that our ancestors could and we cant is a half a lie since we can do everything they could do. Modern humans are more like greenhouse plants that are raised only to survive inside the greenhouse and not outside. If raised outside the greenhouse then humans will regain the lost abilites since theres no outside force influencing our growth.
