It's a weird thing with me. I'm not keen on the 94xx, yet I love the 15xx, which has outside steampipes and cylinders. I've no idea why.

That’s a nice model and still holds up pretty well for its age and you got a nice accessory kit with it. Yes the new price is a bit steep if they have not upgraded the tender connection which is the only thing that lets it down really.

I'd love to get Britannia, waiting for a new tooled version though. The dome on the tender is where the water scoop comes up on the inside.

Should have bought the preserved Britannia engine herself or her sister, Oliver Cromwell, lol. No, it's up to you. I've discovered pre-owned N gauge model steamies are cheaper to purchase. Yesterday, a new steamy of pre-owned status, from Rails of Sheffield online and made by Dapol, was delivered to my home. The model is in excellent condition, costing £79.50, and is preserved on the Bluebell Railway in real life: Tiny Terrier Tank Engine (also a Thomas character), no. 55, Stepney. Top that if you can.

Hi Adi, you have touched on my favourite locomotive, I have seven of them and in four different gauges. You have done a fantastic review of this model, and real coal supplied ! I think a Crew might have been a better option, don’t you think ? I also put real coal into all my O gauge models and some of my OO models. Hi Adi. I have a couple of tender-drive Britannias that still run OK. I was after Oliver Cromwell, due to its involvement in the last day of steam in August 1968, and its connections with East Anglia, where I now live. As I couldn't find one, I re-mumbered/named Tennyson.

Masterfully reviewed. I’m awaiting a visit from Eddie Ochiltree 62677, as ordered from CRW. Hopefully today. I enjoyed you’re review.

Nice plank wagons

Hi Adi It makes you wonder if they really should had tried to get an actual Castle class for the films to save this confusion. I do have the model of Olton Hall in this livery which I quite like even though not a GWR colour. It’s a shame Hornby didn’t make a better job of the light on the front of Hogwalt Castle rather than just drill a whole in the bottom of the smoke box. Thanks for sharing, all the best Rob.

I once had the engine, but gave her up because I didn't have room to keep her. I also had Adderley and Sketty Hall, till I gave those up. Now I'm happy with Rood Ashton Hall, the engine who hates rude awakenings.

I wish you had a Bachmann 00 gauge Jinty tank engine, Jimmy the Jinty is my favourite LMS tank engine. Tender engines run tender first in real life, so make sure all your tender engines are fitted with front couplings. It prevents one side wearing out more than the other. It's good to run tender engines tender first, it's as nice to see them running in reverse as it is to see them running smokebox first.

The Peppercorn A2s were magnificent machines, the last - along with his A1s - in the bloodline of Gresley masterpieces, and in the eyes of many, the pinnacle of UK steam power. Tudor Minstrel looked great on your layout. I want to acquire a BR Express Blue livered example. Perhaps Bachmann will release one, now that Blue Peter is back running in the livery?
