Gillamoos/Abensberg/Germany
The Gillamoos , colloquially known as “the festival of the Hallertau ”, is a large annual fair in Abensberg in the district of Kelheim . It is the oldest in Bavaria .
The origin of Gillamoos lies in an Ägidius pilgrimage to a small church near the Gilla wasteland , which was first mentioned in a document in 1313. Since 1583, the fair has been celebrated at its current location outside the gates of the historic old town of Abensberg. Gillamoos is a corruption of the name of the chapel St. Gilg am Moos ( Gilg is a southern German variant of Ägidius ), which is also where the male gender of the festival name comes from. The original chapel was demolished in the course of secularization in Bavaria . Since 2013, there has been a new building on the historic site.
The memorial day of Saint Giles is celebrated by the Catholic Church on September 1st, which is why Gillamoos takes place every year on the first Sunday in September together with the preceding days (Thursday to Saturday) and the following Monday.
The importance of Gillamoos is reflected in the unwritten rule that no parallel events (public or private) are allowed to take place in the region on the weekend in question. Likewise, some local companies and authorities are closed on Gillamoos Monday.

Actually Metz is close to two tripoints, at about the same short distance. As you noted one is the France-Luxembourg-Germany tripoint (to the southeast of Luxembourg), and the other one is the France-Luxembourg-Belgium tripoint (to the southwest of luxembourg). I live in Belgium, close to Luxembourg and not very far from France. I occasionally shop in Longwy which is the French town on the borders with both Belgium and Luxembourg. When I do, on my way back home I usually drive from Longwy into Luxembourg (to refill with cheaper gas) and from there into Belgium - all three countries in less than 10 kms.
