This channel is about experiencing what this planet has to offer i.e. music, literature and traveling. Some videos are dedicated to teaching in China. I haven't been here long (at least not from my people's perception), but what I've seen so far still inspires me to create content for good memories.
Summer in Russia 2024
We spend every Summer Vacation like this. This times I had a chance to videotape it and compile into one short film for good memories. Unlike the stereotypes about Siberian weather, it is usually quite hot in Summer here. The last two years unusually hot actually! Global warming consequences? I don't know, but it's great to be home and enjoy the hot weather by the Sea (that's what we call it here).

Here we are visiting HongCun Village where "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was filmed. It's a very old village which offers a lot of authenticity, local culture, and stunning scenery. The whole village is a maze! We were so excited to explore these narrow streets and absorb the atmosphere of mystery, history and tranquility.

Legal teaching in China

Here are some insights about being legal in China from an experienced expat named Vicky. Teaching in a foreign country is a lot of fun, however, it is vital to stay safe and be on a legal side. Some countries are easy towards teachers, and some are not. China is a great place to teach, but you have to know what you can or cannot do here if you want to sleep well at night. I think it is quite bonkers that non-natives are not allowed to teach English in China. I am currently in college to become an English teacher (that is a specific bachelor degree in my country). So if I decided to pursue a masters degree and would get my TEFL certificate I still wouldn't be allowed to teach English in China. Eventhough someone that is from the Big 7 with a bachelor's in anything else, and would be less qualified for the job would have a free entry basically. Got it
@@rayijamona497 it sucks balls, I know. However, recently I heard it’s still possible if you are “highly qualified”(whatever this means). I need to research this one. Also, smaller cities tend to go easy on this law. So, IMO, if you really want to get to China to teach English - you still can. It will be more difficult than for an English native speaker with whatever degree.
Can someone please help Me get certified or learn how
Fantastic vlog very useful. May I ask which city of China these teachers are settled in? With BA degree & 120 hours of Tefl still not enough to qualify to teach English at private or public school? What would be the average salary to work for top tier 1&2 cities as a native English teacher? Thank you 🙏🏻
Is it difficult for a Moroccan passport holder who wears a hijab to find a teaching job in China, even with a BA in English, a TESOL certificate, and an HSK1 qualification?

Thanks! Let me open the map of China... (2 minutes later) Beijing, ChangChun, TianJin, ShenYang. Harbin would be the best. It's cold and it's famous for ice figures. Beijing is big and interesting. There are a couple of mountain skiing resorts nearby.

Hi again Aleksandr. You mentioned getting your PGCE in this video. This is something I've wanted for a long time. Here's my current situation: I have a BSc and MSc/masters. TEFL. I have no teaching experience. What do you think would be the best route as far as coming to China to teach, and also getting a PGCE at the same time? Would that be easier to set-up once I've been there a while? Also is it worth looking into IB with my current qualifications? I'm hoping to start somewhere like Shanghai, since I perceive that as being an easier start for a westerner. Thanks :)
Hi mate! Thanks for the comment! I think the best route is to find a job in an international school right away if you can. They take teachers even without teaching experience in some new schools for example. I'd try Shanghai and if it doesn't work, try a smaller city. If you want to get PGCE while working, it would be the best actually, however, you'll need a mentor (preferably in the same school for convenience). Mentor is required in legit Universities like Sunderland (UK) for instance. I would not recommend getting a cheaper version of iPGCE. Some school principals and HRs look down upon it, because it's purely online, when Sunderland PGCE is done also online but 1) You have a mentor with whom you frequently meet face-to-face 2) Sunderland send a teacher to observe your class for evaluation. As for IB - it's up to you. I chose the IB route because I see growth and perspectives for myself in the future. Plus I share the philosophy. I hope I answered your questions.
Her English is really good. I thought she was American at first! Very natural. Re: what she says about white people... I guess a good idea for a white guy to put a photo on CV? (sounds brutal but... haha)
@@FrankCastleTIG thanks for the comment!! Yes, her English is pretty good! And yes, the problem of “whiteness” prejudice apparently still present unfortunately. However, I have to say not in international schools’ circles.

Quite vague on legal work. Its really limited for students from what I heard.
From what I gathered it's possible if your uni can give you permission to work a certain amount of hours a week aligned with your major. If not - it's illegal.

20:45 crazy world we live in

Very informative video, thank you. My sitiation is sinilar to that of Amanda, who has commented above. Although I was born and raised in Italy, I have been spending the last 23 years (that is, most of my adult life) in the UK and I currently hold both an Italian and a British passport. Moreover, I am currently working on a US teaching licence (it was cheaper and faster than a PGCE). To be completely honest, I have my eyes set on public schools in Taiwan not only because I love Taiwan but also because I believe it would be an easier option for someone like me who has no teaching experience whatsoever. But I am also intrigued by the possibility of moving to China, and especially to Chengdu. My question is: does the fact fhat I hold a UK passport and will soon also hold a Secondary English (ELA) US teaching licence compensate for the fact that, technically speaking, I am not a native English speaker? How would employers (schools) in China see my profile? By the way, I also hold a BA in English and French literature from an Italian university and a 120-hour TEFL certificate. I speak Italian, English, French, Spanish and am currently learning Mandarin and Brazilian Portuguese. Ideally, I would like to teach English and/or English literature. I would love to know what you think, as an expert. Thank you very much 🙏🏼
Thank you for your comment! You are so well-equipped that I think you have all chances to find a job in China easily! However, if I were you, I would just say that I was from the UK. You hold the UK passport - and that's all they need really. I'm pretty sure that you don't have a heavy or any accent speaking English, so to maximize the outcome it's better to just say that you are from the UK and that you are a native speaker. Or if you feel uncomfortable saying that you are a native speaker - just say you are from the UK :-) which technically you are now.
@@aleksandrlukin565Thank you so much for the encouraging feedback. I agree with you. It would make more sense to hide or at least not to highlight the fact that I was Italian before I became British. Yes, I must say that my accent is near native (also because I started speaking English when I was 8, that is 42 years ago). I look forward to your next video. I'm loving your channel. Keep it up 😊
@@TheGianko74 thank you very much for encouragement! It means a lot! I’m glad my videos provide some usefulness :)
Hi sir, I am a teacher from the Philippines. My major is English, can you help me find a job in China?
Hello! I'm sorry, but I'm not an agent of any sort. I'd recommend websites dedicated to teaching jobs in China. Just google it! Good luck!
I’m not a native English speaker, but I have been living in Ireland since I was 13yo, and I have an Irish passport, do you think I’d still be ok to teach English in China? I’m getting my TEFL cert soon
You have Irish passport - have a huge advantage here! TEFL is ok. However, I would suggest to look into PGCE. It's MUCH more valuable in teaching career. (avoid iPGCE)
Thank you for your videos! And helpful comments.)) If you don’t mind- what good voice/vocal processor would you recommend for singing recording? Live and studio. For example, KP3+ is not bad, but it’s noisy which is not good for real quality sound. What is like Strymon, but for singing records?)
@@leonidfedoseev3521 you are welcome! Honestly I never use a processor for recoding vocals as I ask the sound engineer to use reverb and such in the mixing and mastering part of the working on the track/ song. For live performing I use Boss Vocal Processor VE-20 and KP3+
