But, instead of quitting society cold turkey, we have decided to work our way toward a simpler life. While we don't quite know what we're doing, we're eager to learn, and we invite you to join in as we attempt to turn our home into a homeSTEAD.

Putting Pigs To Work In The Garden
มุมมอง 585ปีที่แล้ว
There are no free rides on a homestead. Even if you're a pig, you have to earn your keep, and it is time for us to move our pigs out to the garden and put them to work. We are attempting to turn a part of our pasture into a vegetable garden, but it has been nearly impossible to stop the weeds and grass from taking over. So, we have decided to run our pigs through it to clear some ground. That i...

Day 2: Let's Check On The #sheep
มุมมอง 2652 ปีที่แล้ว
We are 48 hours into our new journey with sheep, and we are still a little bit concerned. There are a few that do not seem to be particularly healthy. Maybe we are just overthinking things because we are inexperienced, but some things just don't seem right. There is one animal who seems legitimately sick and a couple of others that seem to be limping and hobbling around. I sure hope this doesn'...

I got a Master Blaster squirt assault rifle. I can squirt soapy water from a good distance to know down my Texas wasps.
Take this sub!
Love this channel.
Great information. Love the goats
How did your plants do after being sprayed with dish soap? I've heard it can be hard on plants.
Spot on. Get the message out! 🤠
Thank you for taking time to post this video. My husband and I have talked about getting goats. Neither of us have any experience with them, so this was extremely helpful. Thank you! Happy New Year to y'all!
Love that you are doing videos again!
The ratio of detergent to water is 2 tsp to 1 pint of wate. That much in the video is way too much. Just waisted detergent.
I have never forage for mushrooms before but I found some of what y’all described as oyster mushrooms today while cutting wood. I think I’m going to go ahead and try them. Thanks for your video, I enjoyed it. Wish me luck and pray that I don’t die. I’m a little nervous. 🤷♀️😅❤️
Try adding salt, pepper, garlic piwder and smoked paprika to the flour. Maybe even a little parmesan as well.
Do you still free range? What about predators?
Temperature affects how quickly this mixture works. The colder the bath the longer it takes. Follow the bath with a vinegar soak for the rust. 👍🏼
Do you have problems with foxes or other predators?
I can’t find the oyster tree, sir!
Oh I sunned them out n also tried drying in an oven.. but now have to chuck them.. seem more burnt
Mine was green now it is yellow .
I have purple on the same plant as the green to yellow eggplant
I came to this video because i have the exact same question, and wss searching for when i can harvest, and now im scared to eat my eggplants ! Im growing them in Belgium. The 2 i put in my garden have dark stems and the aubergines directly grew purple. The ones i have inside have Light green stems and are producing green aubergines. On one plant they stayed green and on the other its now half purple and half green !! They all come from the same bath of seeds i bought. Can i eat them ?? Do you have more info on this ?
what is the latin name of these bugs? are they the same who attack tomatoes, eggplant and almost everything? and if u push it with a stick or somehow endanger it, than it smells very bad. We call it bad-small bug in one word. if that's the same and this works that will be very good because I spray with special insecticid for these F*kin bugs they are awful. Also have one question about the dish soap isn't it dangerous for the plants in some way or for the soil? also thank you for the video Edit: oh i see the end of the video indeed they are the bad smell bugs I saw the mature one I recongised it instantly these bugs also have 1 or more variation that is green and it masking very good in all the weeds and plants.
The obvious question (and I'm sure it has been asked; I just can't find it) is: "Is it safe for the plants?"
I had a terrible infestation. Not those bugs, but still pretty bad, these little things that burrow in & eat out, sucking out the inside of the plant. Well, I sprayed dish-soap all over my plants & sadly & terribly it sealed the "air ways" of the plants and "Unalived" My Plants! 🤯😭🤬😭‼️ (In the past I used straight dish soap to "doff-off-this-mortal-coil" weeds & it works *Marvelously*! 👍🏼👍🏼‼️ This time I Watered the dish-soap down by a TON. & Made sure to rinse off the dish soap extremely well the very next day. Still "caused my plants to pass"! 😭‼️) So I'm *Extremely Curious* how Your plants fair and if this works. Granted I was growing in pots, not in a yard, I didn't have big healthy weeds all over next to my plants AND, my plants were weak, barely growing, but pretty healthy despite the bug problems. So after spraying my plants & pretty much, instantly... doffing them, well; I'm worried for yours. But curious now too. 🤔💭🧐🤔‼️
It worked like a charm, just like you said it would. Thank You!
what about putting toads in the raised garden bed ? we have so many and this would be free food no?
YES I am - this is wonderful !! creepy little bugs
Dawn dish soap, Gain laundry soap. Any soap use plenty , can't hurt. Soap releaves surface tension
I have done this for two years now thank you so much
Spray at night and I do less damage to the beneficial population. A tiny amount of soap goes a ling way. Great video!
It's a constant fight regardless. The reason the eggs change location is because the bugs realize that you are killing them off. They will lay one single egg on a stock lay a cluster in another place I've even seen eggs directly on the zucchini itself. The bugs do this for survival. I have a 16-ft box 4 ft wide. I take a literal vacuum cleaner and vacuum them with the vacuum hose. I removed the leaves to have eggs but I see that this is troublesome because the plant cannot get enough food from the sunlight because there is so many eggs.
So, uh.... What's that bug we shouldn't squish? I don't recognize it at all.
Mine is doing the same thing but they already produced purple dark purple egg plant and now the egg plant that are coming out this time round on the same plants are half green and half dark purple
Oh its ON when the sun goes down tonight!!!
Seven dust spray def did not kill mine, it made them stronger it seems.
Can't believe it good for the soil. And predators are dieing
Dish soap just paralyzes them, it doesn't kill them. Which makes you wonder if it's doing this to bugs then what is it going to humans¿
I love the opening music while you're staking the bugs. Great vid, and thanks !!!!
Add a little cinnamon
New sub. Hate those terrible squash bugs!
You have to ask yourself what chemicals are also aiding the killing of the insects. You don't want any chemical transferring to the plant and to your family.
I have not had the misfortune of dealing with squash bugs yet, but the vine boars are the bane of my existence.
Soap made with sodium hydroxide has salt in it. You don't want salt in your garden. Soap made with Potassium hydroxide doesn't have any salt in it. It will be a liquid soap, but very few liquid soaps are made with potassium hydroxide. Try Doctor Bronner's for one.
I had aphid problem had to pull vegies
soapy waterr does work with no doubt.. however right now we are in triple digits and i decided to go with 7 dust which i used a cheap spot sandblasting sprayer to distrubute the powder .. it worked like a charm . I got upwind with the sprayer and within 1 minute i had dusted the whole squash and pumpkin patch down.. the dust gets all the way into the thick areas . i just shot it really low to the ground and in a few of the thicker areas i just stuck it close in the leaves and shot strait into the ground. However the soap does do the job on contact.. after using soapy water a lot of these utubers forget to tell you after 15 to 30 minutes make sure you wash it off the leavees or you will burn the plant .
Ajax is TOXIC. It has formaldehyde, which has also been found to cause asthma and allergies. Don't think spraying it on food you're going to ingest is a good idea.
Sevin garden bug poison. Can get it at Costco in a big bag. It works for up to three months. Just spread all over the ground around your plants and water deeply. When the squash bugs go to the ground, they will get covered in the poison and die quickly. Literally very little maintenance after that.
Thank you for your video! My garden thanks you ❤
Appreciate your help! Excited to try and finally get rid of these disastrous bugs!
Do you rinse the plants with water after or just leave the soap? Did you see any harm from after?
Zucchini, summer, cukes ALL broadleaf crops hot & dry months
