That puppet is so cute
Thank you, I’ll tell him you said that!
I miss mana burn
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say that. What’s the reason why?
God i miss mana burn
Two nickels isn’t a lot but it’s weird that I happened twice so soon. What’s the reason why?
The stupidest rule ever
I'm talking about mana burn
The amount of psychic damage i just took.... Well done sir lol
Good to know my efforts weren’t wasted!
We love a convoluted damage setup. Also, Wotc should totally bring back mana burn, for like a month for the bit. And would love to see your history on Transforming permanents!
That’s one vote for transforming!
Subbed and liked for the puppet....and the info
He’s on the channel frequently! (For better or worse…)
Sadly your wrong. Sol Ring is in very deck so because everyone has it it’s not an unfair balance to the game. If Mana Crypt was reprinted to high heaven and bundled with every pre con then it wouldn’t have been banned.
Untrue. They have never banned cards based on how expensive they are. The reason banned cards are often also expensive is because they warp the game.
Commander deck = your commander, a sol ring, and 98 other cards. I fucking hate Sol Ring. I hate it.
I hate to be that guy, but not every precon gas sol ring. Painbow (Helmed by Jared Carthalion) does not.
Woah wait really? I guess I see why. That’s a cool fun fact!
Sol ring actually was on the reserved list for an extended period of time from 1996-2002 to be exact.
That’s my bad for not knowing that, thank you for the clarification!
I think it probably has to do with price. The banned cards were pretty expensive, while Sol Ring has always had a pretty stable supply and is therefor very reasonably attainable for the average player. On a separate note, while I don’t fully agree with the bannings, I do get why they did it; The cards were too strong to be in such little supply (which is to say, so expensive). I would’ve personally preferred they’d just printed more cards and made them more accessible in a tournament legal way (so, not proxying) but alas, Hasbro saw money and probably never would’ve done that to begin with. I feel like these bannings should be a wake-up call to people that pieces of cardboard from a game will never be a solid, reliable investment but as long as there’s money to be made I don’t see anyone stopping tbh.
So WOTC can’t actually acknowledge the card’s price when reprinting or banning cards as that would cause Magic to be seen as gambling in the eyes of the law. Plus, if expensive cards were a problem then Gaea’s Cradle would’ve been banned a while ago.
Listen, I get it, but the difference between sol ring and mana crypt is basically just 1.5 life each turn. I don't understand banning ramp in a multiplayer format where games last well into an hour, while most other formats, a 15 minute match is considered long. All it does is accelerate the game. And you need a balance between your ramp, draw, and synergy. Ideally, your commander synergizes with ramp or draw, or both. But banning cards that basically just allow players to play janky decks, is forcing the meta if you want to be viable at your table. Ban broken cards, not ramp. I will concede that dockside was a good ban. It was abusable. Less so with mana crypt and jeweled lotus
The difference is pretty irrelevant, point is they removed the amount of fast mana cards you could bring to the table
@@Pallamutthat's not a good thing lmao
@@bamboozledboy20 Ain't it now? You get to make more interesting choices than just turn 1 mana Also makes game more balanced rather than someone spiking out their entire hand by turn 2 and turning into archnemesis purely by luck of the draw But sure cry like a baby for not getting to play your mana crypt for the hundredth time
It's also in almost every precon to ever exist, so there would be a grand total of 2-3 that you could grab without it and not be playing a banned deck, therefore causing the company to lose one of its highest profit margins........... or maybe it's just a mascot 🤷♂️
Stupid. Every argument for the other cards being banned applies to Sol ring. If 1 card is so good it has to go into every deck then it needs to go.
But you'd retroactively make every precon illegal to play out of the box
@entiao5570 that's fine. I'm ok with that. Lol
100%
It will be there because it always has, is an argument you can use for any card. I don’t care if it makes every commander precon illegal out of the box. Out of principle, if mana crypt is banned then sol ring should also be banned.
Oh I wholeheartedly agree, it’s just that this is the reasoning the commander rules committee as well as commander format panel has stated a handful of times now.
So its the mascot...but mana crypt was expensive and chased for several years and printed...now they just scammed us
Eh, I wouldn’t say “scammed” since WOTC was the one keeping the card from being reprinted while the people who banned it were a separate entity.
@Insigneos well now they have it. Now they can unban it. And who is to say there wasn't manipulation.
Command tower, sol ring, arcane signet. The tent poles of every commander deck
Not as powerful as moxin? It is equal if not sometimes better. The reason why people always downplay it is simply they are used to it casting lower powered cards. If people played with moxin in mid to low powered decks it would have the same effect on a game.
It's not as powerful because you can play all the moxs in one turn and when you can play things for free it makes it very powerful
Plus it's to expensive, so until they've reprinted it a lot it will be very expensive for how powerful they are
I mean yeah, the moxes are more powerful on the sheer fact that they cost zero and provide colored mana. It’s like the difference between a 9 and a 10.
Thats also the difference from being banned and not@Insigneos
I feel like countering sol ring should be an illegal move just for morale reasons
Unless it’s turn one and countered with Pact of Negation.
And I never feel bad for the mill player
That’s a ridiculous goof loop. 😂
Lemurs yeah
How do you give a boost that big and not add trample? I’ll just keep playing Garuuk’s Uprising than.
I wish this video was the exact same thing but with jeweled lotus ... And mana crypt.
I think you meant to pick not banned cards.
Nop, I really believe that reprinting those 2 cards a million times, like sol ring, it wouldn't have been needed to ban them.@@brianbarrett2487
Nah, those mana rocks really needed to get banned. They were banned because they were too strong, not because they were expensive. Similarly, they were expensive because they were too strong.
@@Insigneos then explain sol ring
Sol Ring will never be banned #commander #magicthegathering #mtg
Graveyard hate shuts it down completely with cards like rest in peace
Well duh. But considering graveyard decks are always prominent (pioneer Arclight Phoenix), there’s more to the game than “there’s a card that beats your deck”. Blood moon shuts down both Titan and Tron, yet they persist.
True, there have been a surplus of graveyard decks. However, Leyline is and has very rarely been the answer I these decks. It just doesn’t do what you need a graveyard hate card to do, and with the excess of 1 mana cards that much more efficiently handle graveyards, Leyline of the void just doesn’t have a spot in the sideboard anymore, especially when you consider the flexibility of things like Nihil spellbomb or soul-guide lantern and the requirement to run 3-4 Leyline of the void to fill the role that 2-3 relic of progenitus or similar fills
Leyline is often a turn 0 play on the board before anything else hits the battlefield. It's generally harder to deal with than any Artifact based exile effect and can't be baited into being used at inopportune times. There's a push pull dynamic between things like Lantern and Leyline.
@@blueredlover1060 the problem is that if you don't have it in your opener then it isn't useful at all
@@superyahoo1822 That's fair, but the failure case of other graveyard answers are just as bad if not worse. They are far easier to play around, and aren't a hard answer to the graveyard, like Leyline is.
Mad props to the art team for keeping the Lemure art and running with it. Many decades of fun because of it. 😂😂
Does it work with evoke? Isn’t evoke just an alt cost?
Yes, the cellarspawn checks amount of mana spent compared to the spells mana value. The card was meant to work with miracles, so it’ll work with other alternate costs
@ Awsome
I really want that card now just b/c of the flavor text
Fun fact, lemurs are actually NAMED FOR lemures, as their faces resemble skulls and Lemures are spirits of the dead in Roman mythology.
Wait really? That makes this even funnier!
@@Insigneos yep! Got little faces of death! Makes the whole thing ever more cyclical
I think this would be fun for convoke because you’re not technically paying Manna. You’re just tapping creatures to pay the cost.
What a fun video! Thank you for an entertaining story my good man 👊🏽
Thanks, I love making them!
I love that card, the new aminatou precon is so fun and powerfull
I love how all the lémures reference each other after hyalopterous lemure, genuinely the funniest thing I’ve seen
I have no clue what is going on but the acting sells it!!!
Love the video. I’m glad you talked about altanak in Living End. I think you might be sleeping a bit on ghost vacuum. It hitting atraxa from goryo or what not then getting to play it yourself later for its etb is so crazy.
Oh I never thought about stealing it from your opponents, that’s hilarious!
Dredge is still one of my favorite deck archetypes
Not only is it relatively cheap to build, Dredge is currently one the most fair and balanced decks in modern. And if you know your history, that says way more about the current state of modern than it does dredge.
My ninja deck is eating good with this new set. Even if it is only one card.😊
I remember when Amulet Titan became meta. I jsed to run Amulet of Vigor in all my Commander decks cause it was cheap and allowed me to have budget manabases. Then the card shot up to like $30 overnight and i was finally able to afford good manabases.
So glad to hear that eldritch moon is the best, one of my fave sets lolol
And this is why rule 0 exists. If your pod is fine with it you can still have them
I’m happy they got banned
Ruh roh
Bro fuck this cringe content, card still selling at around 45, WOTC has nothing to do with that, just get over it.
Bro fuck it’s cringe to not understand that was the joke
Super cringe. Sol ring kun? Your table is the weird kids who wore capes to school and still live at home.
@@Insigneos my dude please this kind of content is why people look at me weird when I say I play MTG don't reinforce the stereotypes
@joshchandler5948 Of course it’s cringe, that was the point. Exaggeration of reality. Calling something cringe is cringe.
I feel like that’s a bigger issue. People looking down on you for having a hobby is among the most cringeworthy things a person could do. Don’t take their words to heart, they’re just being mean.
Let's face facts No one saying sol ring coon or reacting this way has ever touched a tool in their life 😂
If I had a nickel for every time a 1UG creature broke multiple formats instantly 3 years ago, I'd have 2 nickels. Which is 2 more than should have happened. Doing it now, I have 3. If it really is a coincidental mistake it's one of the most hilariously stupid design mistake coincidences in history.
I mean at least you can play Uro in Commander, playing him as a Commander is kinda janky but he can be played somewhere unlike Nadu.
