Oxdans and Daldans are Swedish, not Norwegian. They were choreographed by Swedish dance composer, Anders Selinder, in the 1840s.

Its always been an honor for me to have been a member of the original Norwegian Dancers. Memories that stay with you forever. I never get tired of watching each new group each year. What a tribute they are to the Stoughton community.

Actually, the groups that do this dance without the lift are in fact doing it completely. In the green book of Swedish folk dances, there's no mention of a lift anywhere in the description of Västgötapolska. Hence, the lift is most likely just an embellishment someone decided to incorporate into the dance later on. 🙂

Fyramannadans, a Swedish dance, although it's supposed to be done with four people (fyra meaning four). The original dance also doesn't have many of the figures shown here.

Göinge Kadrilj, a Swedish dance, although there are some parts missing.

Slängpolska från Närke, a Swedish dance.

Åttamanengel is a Finnish-Swedish dance, originating in Swedish-speaking Finland. It's very popular in Sweden as well as in Finland. ❤️

Oxdansen is Swedish, and while it predated Anders Selinder, he created the standard choreography typically performed today. 🙂

Smålandspolska, a Swedish dance, good job! You don't see this dance performed as often as others. 😊

Daldans isn't Norwegian at all, its origin is in Sweden, composed by Anders Selinder in 1843. 🙂

Jämtpolska is actually a Swedish folk dance. 🙂
