Funny thing is that there are people who want to grow it but it won't, while some people don't want it. You seem to have great dirt LOL. I have 5-6 plants of this milkweed in my perennial garden that comes back every year. In Spring time, I pull the unwanted ones and that's it. All is good for the rest of the season. I do cut off the seed heads or bag them until ripe, to spread elsewhere. The suckers multiplied by the hundreds! Literally! Then, imagine MY SURPRISE THIS year when not one sucker survived! Finally all my raised beds, flowerbeds and lawn are free of suckers. No more poplar crap anywhere. However, I did exactly as the video showed to do (paint brush only on the suckers). Good luck.

WHY the hell are you calling it invasive. Invasive for you maybe not for me and many. You don't even pronounce the name. It's 'not' invasive. You should remove this video.

Its a native plant in all of the continental United States so its not invasive. It spreads aggressively by seed and rhizome. There is a difference

I have these plants growing profusely all in my pasture, plenty of fruit, it taste very good.

They can be overwintered inside under a proper light for a huge headstart in spring on fruit production. Tomato Horn Worms got on mine in Louisiana. A black light flashlight makes the worms easy to find on your plants. I have two varieties and one has "Peruviana" or something in the botanical name.

I've never seen long ones like that! They're beautiful! Do they have a good germination rate and how are they with disease-resistance?

Thanks for the helpful video! I just bought some seeds and am looking forward to growing them for the first time. After seeing your video, I'm changing my plan to grow them in large pots. I think they wouldn't live their best life that way! I will switch them to a 3X 6 raised bed.

I grew the red variety last year, prolific fruiting but not as spicy as I hoped but still a great flavor. Mine got about 3.5 feet tall and just dumped on me. The best use I had for them was actually throwing them into my pasta sauce or just in my morning eggs. Great video!

Hello from New Zealand. I'm growing these for the first time. I grew them from seed and they're fruiting and just started falling off in the last two weeks. They taste like a sweet creamy tomato to me. Kind of a weird taste but nice. The kids love finding them and opening the shells. Im on a hill close to the coast and its really windy here and can be a challenging environment for some plants but the ground cherry seems to be coping. Weve got about 4 months till the next frost so i think i will get to enjoy then for quite a few months. All the best.

I'm in New castle Pa. not far from Youngstown Ohio. My Satsumas have fruited for me in the house, my sour Calamondin is blooming now with a beautiful fragrance! Winter hit before I could finish my passive solar green house. Looking forward to Spring lol!

Very nice. I am in the Cleveland area also and currently growing 9 varieties of citrus indoors/in a greenhouse once I finish it. Encouraging to see, I have had plenty of flowers and small fruits that dropped but no real fruits yet.

Sadly, even the farthest southern tip of Ohio along the river, across from Huntington WV, is zone 7A. I suppose Pincirus Trifoliata could survive outside there - but it's still too cold even for "cold hardy" hobbyist citrus varieties outdoors.

The issue at hand is the difference between the formal, official definition of the word "invasive" versus its usage in common language to appropriate it as a synonym to "overly aggressive/opportunistic." If your goal is to educate people and you'd like to avoid misleading the audience, I would recommend adjusting the title swap the word invasive with either option above. That is because, officially, the term "invasive" _requires_ the species to be non-native. In reality, of the 80+ species of milkweeds native to the U.S., Common Milkweed simply hit the lottery in terms of evolutionary advantage. I certainly wouldn't put it in my yard, but I do grow it in pots 👍 Official Definition: An "invasive species" is defined as a species that is 1. Non-native (or alien) to the ecosystem under consideration; and, 2. Whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.

Not a good video. Assuming you're in North America, common milkweed is NATIVE throughout much of the contiguous US and Canada. MILKWEED IS NOT INVASIVE. Aggressive, yes. But not invasive. And since it's native, it's a very important plant for other native species including monarch butterfly.
