    Thanks for the vid! I have cuttings from trimming my tree I planted this year (growing crazy fast as I hoped), and rooting the cuttings in water to plant a living fence. Its mid-Sept., kind of the wrong time to plant cuttings? Will a couple months of growth before colder temps be enough to get them in the ground now, or should I plant them in a pot for the coming winter? Id rather not transplant in spring if i don't have to. Your response isn't expected, but much appreciated!

    So we just bought 36 acres, and I want to plant a hybrid willow privacy screen along a county road so the neighbors aren't tempted to hunt our land. 🙂 But we'll only be going out there every couple of weeks. So we can't water daily. Is it possible for them to grow only being watered at this frequency?

    I got my Willows from a different Nursery. That nurseries video they planted it deep with only about 1-1/2" sticking up (top growth). I still have 19 more to plant or should keep them up higher than that. When I had them soaking in a container I would also spray the upper part with a water bottle. They look great after two weeks. This video as well done. Very well explained.

    I had to reorder again, ordered some last year but none of them survived once transplanted despite well watered. In nj here with sandy soil, filled in the areas around it with composted soil. I know fertilizer is not preferred, but do they produce enough of their own nutrients once in the ground after a month, or will a light slow release natural fertilizer like Milorganite help? They did so great that first month, but then started weakening turned brown and died after month 2.

If so, should I plant these in containers?? I'd like the height and fullness...

    What if white “moss” develops around the base of the roots while soaking for 3 weeks? And also if the branches get really long while soaking so you cut them?

    • @twigznursery4669
      @twigznursery4669 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the moss will not hurt the tree but you can spray it with hydrogen peroxide if it gets excessive. If the branches are really long its time to plant the start. You can cut off the extra and leave about an inch or two of branch. Hope this helps

    • @twigznursery4669
      @twigznursery4669 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You bet! definitely worth a try. Many starts will appear dry and dead but they are usually just more mature cuttings meaning they have more of a brown dry bark on them as opposed to a green start. In actuality they are usually more hardy.
