Bee Walks help our precious wild bees
Bee Walks are a vital way to monitor the health of our precious wild bee populations explains Gill Perkins from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. To get involved with monthly Bee Walks at Sheepdrove Organic Farm please email info@sheepdrove.com (marked FAO Rosie). Or visit beewalk.org.uk to find a walk near you. As part of the process you learn how to identify bees and what habitats they need.

    I saw this video of a guy who spent a good amount of time cooking a slice of one he found. Took a bite and tossed it in the trash and punted the rest of it into a hundred chunks. It made me laugh. This was not that video.

    The real story behind Klaus Fuchs was how pusillanimous British justice was in punishing him. This was the man, after all, that gave a tyrant who rivals Adolph Hitler the secrets of the atomic bomb and placed in jeopardy the future of Great Britain as a sovereign state. His sentence was just a mere 8 years and was even allowed to return to East Germany, an ally of the Soviet Union. Compare that to the death sentence delivered to the Rosenburgs.

    The biggest punishment was to live in a communist country. I think he could be cought anyway. A bomb stopped an attack in W Europe

    In the years since the end of WW2 and the exposure of Klaus Fuchs as an "atomic spy", I have come to see his "crime" differently. The USA, my country, has since then engaged in unnecessary wars against countries that did not threaten us, killing many millions of innocent civilians and their leaders. The USA has toppled many legal governments, of which at least 3 (Iran, Guatemala, Chile) had been democratically elected, and replaced them with ruthless dictators. The USA has supported military juntas that committed terrible exterminations of their own people. Right now, the USA is at war with Russia, using Ukraine as a proxy, because my country wanted to bring NATO forces up to the Russian border. In other words, the USA has proved the be the greatest threat to world peace since the fascists of the early 20th century. With this insight, I think it was for the better that the Soviets were able to develop the bomb with whatever help Fuchs was able to give them. I do not trust the government of the USA to be the unitary power in the world. We are led by a ruthless oligarchy, and our people are blinded by the mainstream media that the oligarchy owns.

      Enrico Fermi did not discover fusion. Hans Bethe explained the energy generation of the Sun by the fusion of hydrogen into helium in the 1930s. Enrico Fermi made many other discoveries and engineered the first chain reaction by nuclear fission in the early 1940s. The fission reaction was discovered by Otto Hahn and Lisa Meitner in 1938.

    Time 12:34 approx. The grapefruit sized slug of U235 that would explode is curious when you calculate it out . if you treat the grapefruit as being 100mm in diameter or 0,05m in radius it works out at a volume of 523 E -6 m3 . U has density of 19.1 E3 kg/m3 This means that the grapefruit of Uranium would weigh 10kg exactly. Now this might be as big as 15kg ... based on the Standard Grapefruit. Little boy allegedly used 55 kg of purified U 235 . It used a cunning trick to get an assembled mass of about 2.8 x the required critical mass (spherical) but was in the form of a cylinder. This suggests that the critical mass is more like 19.6 kg (as a cylinder of some aspect ratio). Of course this discrepancy might be related to purity .

    • @TheCruxy
      @TheCruxy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Does your calculations of the power of the grapefruit sized slug assume 100% detonation? I've heard a couple times that only a small amount of the uranium in the slugs actually experiences the process of detonation

    • @F_Tim1961
      @F_Tim1961 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheCruxy I never did a calculation on explosive power. I was simply trying to find out if the masses talked about made sense. You are correct - only a small fraction of the available energy is produced. I think about 1 - 2 percent of maximum possible. you have to know all the possible fission paths and what the mass discrepancy is in each one . Some may be more favoured over others in practical experience . ...there's a lot of background data you need , but even with a small mount of research a person of reasonable intelligence should be able to come up with a solidly based approximation. At Alamagordo 1945 a test explosion of chemical explosives was set off to calibrate the instrumentation . that suggests that there was no method of reliably measuring explosive yield from an A bomb except by scaling from a chemical explosion. I'm guessing the scale factor would have been the blast wave over pressure at say 10 km out - something like that. You then have a wormhole back to how many MJ/kg of mass discrepancy energy you had because the yield of TNT per kg is precisely known. None of this pays the rent so it's not worth spending too much energy/time on. AKA - I'd rather be sailing. You will find atomic mass discrepancy described in Wikipedia if you don't know what it is . U plus U bombs don't exist in practice. Hiroshima is they only one ever used . The US made a few more as it was a known good design and useful for destroying submarine pens. They were then scrapped and the U of course was re used by remelting (carefully) into other designs. It is very difficult to get a U only bomb to produce much above 20 kT (they say). This figure goes up to 50 kT withe more complex fission designs, which are just as reliable and may in fact be slightly cheaper to make. Eventually all devices became Pu + U or Pu + Pu designs and either Christy cores or more sophisticated elliptical cores and some such. ... so many brains.. so much technical work ... all for no tangible gain. Rather sad really. Plus poor bums like Slotin and others died horrible deaths through accidental irradiation. TE. Fidler

    Rudolf was in fact baptised as a Lutheran though he was culturally Jewish. Genia has this background - Daughter of Nikolai Kannegiesser and Maria Kannegiesser. Nikolai might have been Jewish but his wife with a name Maria was certainly not. So Eugenia was surely not Jewish. Characterising the two as a Jewish couple is not very accurate. Eugenia was trained a a physicist though none of that training was used on the Manhattan project. Ref 4:17 of the video.

      @@atg131000 Maria you pull my effing leg. Marissa maybe as a cryptonym for what you alude to but never "maria " except for Reform Jws who basically don't exist in Russia , only in the fleshpots of America. I think too with the Russian Zeitgeist back then Eugenia would have been denied scientific training if female and clearly Jewish. That's my vibe.
