No need to worry, HoloCure is still cooking. From what I can gather, the main inspiration for the creation of Holo X Break arose from the controversy of Unity announcing their plans to change monetization. Even though Kay made HoloCure in GameMaker, it did establish a mistrust in Unity. There was a lot of incentive for game devs to migrate away from Unity, and in that there were tutorials for alternatives such as Godot popping up. Kay had been interested in learning to program in another game engine to try new things. Kay discussed this with friends and quite a few also shared the same sentiment of wanting to learn Godot as well as wanting to try to make a game with online multiplayer. And so underwent the development of Holo X Break, giving the dev a chance to learn new things and gain new perspectives (he particularly had fun with Godot's UI system, which is how the pause menu is able to look the way it does). However Kay also works as an animator, and has taken up quite a handful of random anime scene projects that can get rather taxing on him, apparently things are rough in the anime industry. In addition he also has a 9 to 5 job animating for video games. After he finishes up the anime projects he's taken up, he wishes to return to personal projects and making drawings and animations on his own terms. Meanwhile GameMaker also underwent an engine update, and following through with such unfortunately spawned in a number of errors and warnings, so that has to also be taken care of. Bottom line is HoloCure is still being worked on, but it's going to take some time still.
