Fixing Modding Building

I like to "try" and fix, I like to "try" and mod, I will give anything a go but I am no expert, what's the worst that will happen?!!
I have made mistakes, I have been lucky but I aim to improve on every repair learn from the last and improve every time.
My aim is to buy faulty items and save them from the bin. I try and buy items that I can keep, give to my kids or family or use myself.
I seem to mainly pickup Switches, but will give any console or electrical item an attempted fix!
Feel free to make video recommendations or requests.
I appreciate you watching my channel and hope you can take the time to give me a follow, Thanks.
**I now have two other channels, the first Fix.ModBuild,Extra will be for all the things similar but not fixing
www.youtube.com/@FixModBuildExtra
The other channel jamigaGaming will be for gaming related things, playing games badly, mods, reviews.

I would really appreciate if you could follow and subscribe.

Bet that corroded game was in a Gameboy when the seller found it and used the Gameboy to test the other games.
Yer, he must have done something stupid like that, shame I didn't get more faulty but o well!!
I had this installed on my lite, when i restarted for the first time in awhile it wont boot to hekate the led on th rp2040 blinks blue and blinks green3x, is there a fix i got it repaired like 2 time(still have waranty) but why do u think is the problem?
Maybe need to update the sd card?
@fixingmoddingbuilding i think its not the sd card when i remove the sd card and turn the switch on it just gies back to the ofw, not the no sd card logo
@@shawnshwn8145 Must be bad/loose solder points somewhere?
Cold joints :/
No, there toasty..
nice fix on the last game and see you soon
Thanks, I was lucky again, wanted more issues for the video but somethings better then nothing!
bought a modchip yesterday, I have no soldering experience but you make it seem easy lol Ill update yall if I broke anything 🙏
With a little experience and practice it is easy but with none it's a recipe for disaster! I recommend a lot of practice before you jump in
@@fixingmoddingbuilding Im built different though, ill manage
@@nourie4473 🤣I am the same, I did an sxos install years a go without any experience or decent equipment, just decided to go for it! Thought I should send you the responsible reply to begin with!
@@fixingmoddingbuilding Haha yea I'll practice with some leftover stuff I have. Btw, I wanted to ask, does it matter which Firmware my switch is for the picofly to work?
@@nourie4473 At the moment no, atmosphere works on the latest fw so can update if needed.
9 out of 10 shops that do this kind of work are pure scams... thanks for confirming with this video👍🏻
Yer, they obviously just recover them and say its a refurb!? Its not a hard/big job to open the back, clean, check the paste!
Thank god the kits are easier to install
Yer, the new kits are so much quicker and easier, this way never really needs using ever again!!
Great work sir
Thanks, it's more of a heads up to people thinking there getting a fully refurbed laptop when actually it's been reset only!!
I ain't doing all that
Which one is newer/easiest to install on a oled model?
your soldering iron and skills burns my eyes
I try it but my ps4 game didnt work.. that was no true.. do not believe it guys...😢😢😢😢😢
If you watch the video it doesn't claim to work for me?
how to uncut a file ?? so it paste it again ?
What are the temps you were using for the hot air and soldering? How long did you heat it? Aren't there sensitive components on the bottom? I'm gonna attempt this in a few weeks and would like to know :)
Depending on your hot air station but normally go for around 420/440c. 70/80% air speed. Just keep the heat moving, don't focus in one spot and you will see the solder melt. The only issue you have underneath is I think the light sensor? A white component with about 6 legs on it. This due to the location can burn really easily there might be a better way to avoid it but in the past I have had to replace it.
boah very bad soldering and cold soldering . Set the iron to 350c
I'm good thanks
My flex cables say v11 and v12. I have a v2 switch. Should I use the one that says v12?
If you put it in place you will see, the chips on the board are a different orientation so only one will physically fit
@@fixingmoddingbuilding ok thank you 🙏
Nice and funny just recently had a similar case with missing caps but around m92. Workin now aswell
I probably did it when I first started trying to fix but sometimes you need to know when to stop as you're making the issue worse! Glad you got the fix though, it makes it more satisfying!
Great work by the way
Thanks 👍
What hot air gun do you use
Made a video on it th-cam.com/video/8IRnml68m_8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=By9vPQtaX6jqIsDw
hello, are cheap heatguns (around 50 euros) good?
I had a cheap one that would do the job you don’t have to break the bank
I use this one, very cheap! th-cam.com/video/8IRnml68m_8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=By9vPQtaX6jqIsDw Up until now it has done everything I needed but I needed to remove a large chip off a ps5 and I couldn't do it! So they have there limits, I will need to buy a more expensive one (reluctantly) but can't afford it currently! But overall a cheap one is good enough to begin with, I have always tried to repair on a budget!
@fixingmoddingbuilding thank you !
Absolutely nailed it. I'm miles away from your skills but you're an inspiration for me to keep gaining experience!
Hey buddy, your being far too kind! Its took me a long time to get more confident, doing something like this you really need a microscope, a digital zoom on a camera will work but goes a bit grainy. It took me years before I could afford to get a digital microscope so repairs can be done without them but just a little harder. Just keep practicing, buying faulty stuff as cheap as possible is the best thing to do, try and fix anything, especially if its cheap!
@fixingmoddingbuilding Thanks! I do have a $10 microscope that works fine for installing modchips, but it just doesn't look clear enough. Plus the LEDs pointing right at the PCB makes some parts look very dim and others like metal look as bright as the sun. I want to upgrade to a better one. Andonstars seem great, but I need a separate scope that I can mount on an arm to move freely.
aw yeah woo yeah
Great fix there pal. Keep up the good work
Thanks mate!
Mate! U always should do a NAnd backup after emmc reflow. Yellow screen is most of the time incorrect atmosphere. If u have the keys u can always make a new nand, thats super easy to do! nice try
I freakin love your videos dude. No bs, just straight to the point. I've already modded two OLEDs, now I'm heading towards a V2 Switch.
Thanks, if you have completed an Oled, v2 is going to seem so easy!
Not the prettiest but hey if it works it works. Besides tape or something else can cover it
Yer it's purely to use as a test battery for me, wouldn't want to give to someone!
To be honest, I don't have the guts till I learn to solder on something that isn't really special
Yer, practice lots first!
It's pretty fun to do this kind of stuff. Though I wish someone finally made an actual Spider-Man housing.
Its an easy mod to make something look completely different! eXtremerate are really good at giving feedback, maybe worth getting in touch and making the suggestion? I am sure copyright etc will come into play but if people ask things could happen?
How many minifigures came in total
Comes with the same as the real one, I think 11?
great work 👍
Thanks ✌️
Thank you, great video, there's another flex cable, it's not installed at all right?
The two cables are v1/v2 so will only need to use one
Is this the only way to do the OLED mod?
Yes, or a mig switch card?
What does the wire called
I use enamel wire
Good fix that pal. Keep up the good work
My nand adapter isnt engaging. my multimeter never beeps when I test it. Do I have to use a shim? Maybe pretin the tiny connector?
I don't think tinning is a good idea. Could be a faulty connector, might need to get another?
testing between the connector and the solder point is good. So I dont know about that. Something is just misaligned or im not pushing the adapter in far enough.
Looks like I did it. I needed to test using the voltage measurement setting not the beep tester. its all soldered in and .549 reading. Im a newbie at this stuff and I guess the beep tester only works above a certain voltage.
Thanks sir. I just finished installing modchip on my switch v2 and its working well
This has singlehandedly saved my ds, Thank you for the great tutorial!
Thanks, I'm glad it helped 👍
Its for switch v2 same chip on v1?
Yes
Great fix, especially with the shoulder buttons!
Nice work mate!
Hahaha u ain't fix nothing 😂😂
My screen isnt broken, its miss alined and i just want to readjust it.. Would that be possible?
Yes
@@Femboy_Engineer Make a video on it please so i can get an understanding without breaking my 2ds
@@neonfurry32198 cant, i don't have a touch screen at the moment

@@neonfurry32198 well yeah but like I said I don't have a touch screen, i did have one but im returning it since it didn't work

the white an 2ds xl looks very nice. my only think with this console is that it brakes very ez. I broke my r button (the plastic part) attest 5 time.
i have the same 2ds xl color and we had to take it apart to fix a crack
Yer I was lucky, normally on then off means ripped top screen ribbon cable, which is a horrible repair!!
@@fixingmoddingbuilding sadly when fixing it we broke the volume slider but there is no crack on the thing that rotates to close and open
I dont get in hekate
Are "slower mode" and "1-bit mode" the same thing? I'm asking this because I'm getting the second, not the first message. Thanks in advance.
I don't know for sure, but I would say different
Hey @pvpet2008. No they're not. 1-bit comes from a fault SD card reader and slower mode can be an eMMC issue
What soldering iron are you using in this video? Is it the TS101 you showed in your equipment video? I am using a cheap one from Amazon. I was thinking of upgrading.
Yes I use the ts101, really good, good choice of tips. Before that I just used a cheap non branded one, did the job just sometimes hard to get the tips to get hot enough to solder well
@@fixingmoddingbuilding Thank you
