Here are my thoughts on ANGE POSTECOGLOU and SPURS. 1. It is RIDICULOUS that some supporters are asking for Ange to be sacked. 2. He has only been with us for less than A SEASON AND A HALF. 3. VARIOUS INDICATORS show we are making serious progress from last season. 4. We tend to act disproportionately to a loss because of what has happened in the past. 5. Spurs have not had a winning mentality under Daniel Levy/ENIC and Ange has the CHALLENGE of turning this around ( I don’t think that players are deliberately not trying, but I think there sometimes is a certain lack of energy and intensity that filters down from the top). 6. I also think that Sonny should be offered a new contract (he easily has 3-4 years of quality football and absolutely plays his heart out for Spurs and has been an extremely loyal player). 7. Sometimes, I feel we get TOO emotional when we lose. This is a non-Spurs analysis of Spurs: th-cam.com/video/pwTpFVLq6Ow/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/hYAj0ltCmM0/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/bOHwkVoh8l0/w-d-xo.html No doubt if we lose to Man City, people will start up again about giving him the sack. We need to BE PATIENT and give this man time. We have seen some of the best football being played by Spurs for a long, long time. Yes, we need consistency, BUT I firmly believe we need to give Ange time.
@@howardconway2942 👏
His start to the season is worse than Nuno's. His record is worse than Conte or Jose. He has a system but no tactics, and doesn't spend any time on the training pitch.
Am clearly backing Ange but think the winning mentality/lack of consistency goes back way before Enic

The standard of the PL has improved from top to bottom. Nearly all clubs have squads that can beat everyone. Teams like Man City and Liverpool cant take games for granted anymore. The best players all want to test themselves in the PL.

great chat guys, been marinading over the Ipswich debacle, watching the first 20 minutes and based on patterns of play , my bet was Ipswich will score first , and as night follows day Ipswich score 2 in 12 minutes transitioning through spurs midfield . Ipswich dont have messi , they should not have been able to run through the lines in midfield , to score , so what gives . starting sarr was supposed to stop these sorts of patterns of play emerging. answer- spurs are one of the most disorganised teams in defensive transition in the epl , there is often no shape or structure , and that allows variance to thrive. both goals were a consequence of unlucky deflections , but the fact that the ball was allowed to get into the box too easily , is the real issue . spurs have one of the best records in applying defensive pressure in the opponents defensive third , but paradoxically , they are not as good as they need to be in their own defensive third . furthermore , the players were yards off the pace , so whatever tapering done in training between the mid week game and ipswich , the training staff got it wrong, and that ultimately cost spurs the game. tired legs, allowing ipswich to transition and goal spurs total squad attack contribution was around 2.7 goals to ipswichs 1.9, , based on a efficiency rate of around 30% in professional football , spurs were good for 1 goal , but Ipswich get 2 , because spurs were tired and disorganized you can be tired or you can be disorganised , but you cant be both , because variance thrives in that chaos , and results like ipswich happen, on a final note, spurs tactics committee have yet to come up with adequate counter measures for a compressed midfield defense playing a high line, there are solutions that mainly involve mid range chipping and running , but thats a topic for another day , the main issue is why have spurs brains trust come unstuck at just about every instance these tactics have been used against spurs. is it execution or coaching ? which brings me to madders. there is a trade off between sarrs running and madders creativity , the way ipswich set up , madders had to start to try and break down ipswichs defensive shape, not come on at the 84th minute . 84th minute , whats the point . the big picture is spurs are second on the net xg ladder , at .76 goals , behind man c , but almost double that of liverpools , so well up on last seasons . 15 , they are also 2nd on goal difference, and the algorithms of every bookie on the planet have these two metrics as the main predictors of a football game , so the underlying performance levels have improved enough for top 4 . so hopefully spurs will start matching that underlying performance on the ladder , in the next few months
I think the Spurs are a lot better than before he started and he is less than half way of the rebuild.
Spurs fans must get a grip. You lost to a team who have roared from L1 to the PL in just 2 seasons. We have done that with a fantastic coach , a squad of skillful players with an incredible team spirit backed by super loyal fans. We have been very close to winning a number of games and it just happened to be our day. Give us the credit we deserve , reset and move on.
Yeah balanced and refreshing episode. In times like this, I'm always interested to see which player steps up when the team needs them.
@@kayycee6490 Thanks for the support and kind words 🤍💙
Awful week, this is my first visit to any social media, I’d prefer if we win but, obviously, it’s the ridiculous outpouring from so called fans, I do believe every defeat will make us stronger in the end, losing in these less important games will prepare us for the big games ….finals 👍🤔
A tough week Phil indeed! However, this season was always going to be one of ups and downs. Ange will be hurting too
What a breath of fresh air, Johnny & Jim. I echo Eric's comments. Even more tiresome than the swinging toddler-like tantrums of some podcasters, is the feral (mob-baiting) belligerence of folk like Spurs Away and co. that spend more time dissing THFC and currying Arsenal favour-for-clicks.
Thanks for the kind words of support mate. COYS
In terms of Maddison. He’s the reason there is media training in football. I think he pissed Ange off with the Mikey Moore comments. Even though tongue in cheek, it put a lot of spotlight and pressure on Mikey that week.
Agree, stupid comments. Maddison talks too much and it rarely has a positive effect
We feel like a mid team that overachieves sometimes and looks amazing. I think we are on our way but the let downs are hard because sometimes we look amazing. I still think Ang is building success it just takes time.
Yep, it Hurst because we get glimpses of what could be and are then reminded we are still on a journey before it will become consistent
First goal was Sons fault. He got dragged inside and left a 2 on 1 on the wing. By the time he realised, he couldn’t come to close the cross down. Once the cross goes in it’s a lottery.
I don't think Ange should be sacked but if he was it would be a lot more engaging/compelling than much of the football we've seen this season. Does anybody else think so many hamstring injuries is not a coincidence with ''Angeball''
Hey Paul! Hamstring injuries are certainly more common with this playing style. We need a deeper squad to accommodate and confidently rotate
I eny that some of you go into games and expect a spurs win, I dont have that belief because I am scarred friom past history. I dont trust this team even if we played a non league team in a fa cup game at home. Even if we are three nil up in the first half, part of me think if the oppositon get a early goal in the second half they could win 3-4 because I have seen it before.
Ange has had 1 season (finished 5th) and 11 games (3pts off 3rd) under his belt. I accepted when he took over that it would take time to build the squad to his imagine (took Klopp 8 transfer windows to make Liverpool fully competitive and start winning trophies, Arteta took 8 transfer windows to make Arsenal fully competitive, and had a further 3 transfer windows since). The Dr doom mongers spout the Club and owners are crap, Ange is crap, the players are crap, the fans are crap yet throw tantrums if we drop points, like expecting championship winning form every game? We are no where near the finished article, and inconsistencies are bound to happen, its part of the growth but expecting championship winning form 11 games into his 2nd season is crazy. Dr doom mongers use the international break to go and have a look at why you fell in love with Spurs and footie
😄 enjoyed that rant. Well said
Ange is getting stick but the lack of working hard off the ball was shocking, both Son and Brennan not once track back to help the fullbacks out and when Ipswich attacked us they was weak ass challenges on him, I am tired off this BS . This spursy culture is created by the owners and players who are signing to this club are feeding off it.
Excellent video. I have been in a self imposed social media blackout as I knew it was going to be toxic after that loss. Leading up to the Ipswich game all media channels were talking how much Spurs would beat Ipswich by which had me worried after loss during the week. Ange is doing his best with the players available but I feel rotation whilst a necessity is having a negative impact on the team’s performance. Some key injuries haven’t helped either.
Most social media channels are not an enjoyable use of energy. Lots of angry people projecting their emotions and views onto you in often an aggressive way
It’s a mixed bag of ‘whatever’s’…IMO the players looked mentally and physically spent. We have absolutely NO leaders at all…and some very overrated players in our squad. I picked Ipswich to win actually….due to lack of quality in our squad depth. I believe we’ll also lose to CITY and UNITED after the break. Win against Fulham. Sounds totally crazy…but I would have preferred that spurs didn’t play in Europe….and got knocked out early in both domestic cup comps. BUT THEN….full on attack season 3 and beyond , under Ange. It’s way too early for this squad to be playing in domestic cups and Europe. In my opinion.
I think we need to choose one cup and double down on that alongside the league. If we try fight on all fronts I fear we won't have the depth. It is a bad time to play Man Utd unfortunately
@ we don’t have the depth now….hopefully another 1-2 transfer windows….if levy and fans are patient….things should look better. I just hope we don’t get 4th this year…we will get cooked next season.
Hi Jim. Excellent pod as usual. Imo the thing we are missing is a leader who can drag the team back into a game when the going gets tough. Love Sonny to bits, but he's not that guy.
Agree, Sonny makes a great vice captain. He's a leader in his own right but not the type of leader we need for our situation. We've got too many fragile players who can't handle adversity. We need someone who can pick them up
This is the only sensible and adult podcast/vlogue I have heard all week. Most of what you say is true. The likes of Barnaby Slater. We are tottenham, Last Word on Spurs are Juvenile and rant like an 8 year old and turn on a penny or a whim, it's nice to hear adults talk and express themselves in a sensible way .Congratulations.
I am gradually watching less podcasts. Just here and Alastair Gold and the Aussie Hippie. Tired of the clickbait and childishness. Project continues. And still in for every trophy. Dropping Ange would be a disaster. I can see what he’s building. Seen it all before. No easy fix. Bring in another manager and put back success further away again.
So true. I’ve stopped listening to the others
Thank you for the words of support 💙🤍
Depends which manager comes in. Ange isn't young. @@glennmaillard9076
This video set me straighth, its like the equivalent of someone slapping you in the face and saying calm down get a grip lol
SONY MADISON AND ROMERO HAVE LACKED THE LEADERSHIP TO MOTIVATE THE REST OF THE YOUNG SQUAD TO GET TO PLAY THE GAME AS IF ITS THEIR LAST ONE.
Yes. You can never deny Sonny's passion and effort. However we do lack a natural leader who knows how to push through tough times and rally the troops
Step one should be for the fans stop over hypping players like they are world class, the reality is we have a lot of young players who have high potential, they will make mistakes and they are not there yet , players like Romero and Bentancour are put on a pedestal that when they are not playing well other players who are not put on that pedestal are scapegoated.
I feel I should formally apologise for my prediction. My bad.
🤣 you were not the only one
JIm is quite right about the 3 point turnaround taking us to third. My major concern upon return from the Int break is we then have 12 matches in six weeks, with nine EPL games including Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle. The last three are home matches which we 'should' win... All that said, I still think Spurs can finish third.
It's going to be busy! Fortunately our rivals have the same challenge
I'm sorry, comrades, if fans are blaming a slender, 22-year-old right winger tracking back for our defensive lapses then they are missing the point. Yes, everyone has to do their bit, but the key problem is the coordination of the back four, the GK, and the DM. Marking attackers at the back posts are the core responsibility of the fullbacks, with contribution from all defensive players and midfielders tracking back in support. I say this as a formerly slender ex-winger😉
In defence of the slender winger, the 6'3 strong centre backs should have done much better 😅
