When they brought up Border Wars and cop shows and TV-that show was filmed in my hometown. The BP’s are one of the most corrupt law enforcement agencies, and that show really regressed the town back by a lot because of how bad they portrayed it. Not just that, but those same BP’s filmed were the absolute worst human beings who have been involved in x amount of allegations from protecting rapists and murderers within their own, one being a serial killer who they weren’t gonna release his info until backlash from the community. Idk why I went in this tangent, but yeah, fuck Border Wars lol

after season 9 south park came awfully close to jumping the shark but went back to basics with original funny episodes of current pop culture. the time with the dog whisperer, world of warcraft, etc. those are my favorite types of episodes of south park.

I’ll never understand how many South Park fans can think Matt and Trey are Trump fans or that they align with the kinds of things he says just because they’re anti-PC. This commentary pretty much sums up their feelings that they think someone like that shouldn’t be the president. The show feels like it got too big for its own britches and now there is almost cult-like worship of the show (and by extension Matt and Trey) that is never meant to be taken seriously in the first place. Bigoted people imposing their views on South Park or even adopting their own opinions from South Park have kind of ruined some parts of the show for me. Like there is a lot of truth to the fact that the show taught antisemitism and bigotry in general to a lot of young boys. Of course you can’t blame media for bad parenting, but the fact of the matter is there’s a lot of shitty parents out there who won’t vet what their kids consume. No 12 year old is going to be able to dissect the irony of a character like Cartman.

As someone who was in my senior year of college at the time this season aired, I had never encountered a frat bro who was PC or really anyone else in college who was overly PC. I always felt that stereotype was a relic from the 90s.

It’s wild that Comedy Central wouldn’t let a white person voice chef while the Simpsons wouldn’t catch flak for the same thing until 20 years later

It’s funny hearing Matt and Trey talk about Bob Saget while he was still trying to shake the family-friendly vibe created by Full House and AFV. Obviously later on the public would find out that Bob’s comedy style was always raunchy and the ABC stuff was just a job for him. So it’d be interesting to hear Matt and Trey’s perspective on it now, knowing that Bob wasn’t as douchey as his big roles made him out to be

D-Yikes is one of the best episodes of season 11, probably THE best outside of Imaginationland. Yet they like the stupid easter episode better. Sometimes with these guys...

their Amazon episodes were some of the best things they've ever done

Never understood why Matt and Trey thought they needed to do the Obama episode considering they had never done anything like it before. Up to that point the only thing related to politics or an election was the douche vs turd episode, which is evergreen. The Obama episode instantly became dated and doesn’t hold up for any subsequent rewatches. And of course it gave Matt and Trey the confidence that they could do the same thing with Trump and we all know that turned out to be a disaster where they wrote garrison into a corner. South Park can be funny when it’s topical but the best topical episodes are the ones that use metaphors like manbearpig or two days before the day after tomorrow. When they don’t even try to disguise the commentary it’s too obnoxious and becomes dated.

The election screwed them. Plus they seem to take it way too seriously for what it is. We're never going to get commentaries again after season 22
