Thank you for spreading the good word of God's love for us, pastor! May you feel Christ's many blessings. ❤ I love and agree with the way you characterize thoughts of tender concern as gifts from the God! And I'm using and stealing your advice about examining our thoughts then "boxing" them up. Brilliant. I have a couple of questions about some other parts of your message. Question #1: What indicates that our inability to perform awe-inspiring acts can be blamed on our being only partially human-or that Adam and Eve were more human than we are? The disciples and the early church weren't tossing mountains around, but they were performing miracles left and right. In Mathew 17:20, Jesus talks about this very subject: '“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”' Christ makes it clear that humanity’s lack of faith is what prevents us from performing those amazing deeds-it’s not because we’re only partially human. Adam and Eve shared our lack of faith. It's why they believed they knew better than God what they should eat. Due to their lack of faith, they could not withered a fig tree the way Christ did. Instead, all they could do is pluck away its leaves in a poor attempt at clothing themselves. Speaking of their clothing... Question #2: What indicates that the animal skins God used to clothe Adam and Eve weren’t actually clothing? Every translation of Genesis 3:21 refers to those articles as clothing. Here's a sampling: NLT: "And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife." NRSVUE: "And the Lord God made garments of skins for the man and for his wife and clothed them." NIV: "The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." Are you looking at 2 Corinthians 5:3-4? “For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us.” Those verses use metaphor to describe spirits wearing bodies as clothing. Adam, by contrast, was made of the Earth, and Eve from him. They weren't disembodied spirit prior to God tenderly clothing them. Thank you for reading. 🙏🏻
No sound 😕
I would really like to watch this but there isn't any sound. Also an issue during Sunday sermons. Linda Burnett
Thank you, Father John, for yet another inspiring service. I’ll not forget that “Doubts are the ants in the pants of faith,” to keep us awake and alert.
Father John, I love your messages of love & encouragement & your graceful way of clarifying truth. Thank you.
Such beautiful piano music. Anointed.
Thanks for listening
Miss y'all. Feels very strange to not attend Christmas Eve service in person. Next year, God willing. Linda Burnett
