Mk1 Golf GTi - How to change external fuel pump with voiceover - walk through guide
This second and non-time lapsed version is a longer, more detailed walk through. The voiceover guide shows you the main steps in changing the external fuel pump on an 1981 VW Mark 1 Golf GTi. This earlier 1600 GTi only has an external pump, unlike later models which incorporated a secondary lifter pump in the tank.
I was have running issues with stuttering when trying to accelerate hard. You'll see (and hear) that not only is the pump old and noisy, but also the feed hose from the petrol tank to the pump is badly kinked, resulting on reduced fuel flow.
Safety warning! Remember to:
1. Use axle stands as well as a jack
2. Ensure you work in a well ventilated area when dealing with petrol
3. Disconnect the battery before starting work

About £85 from a Czech guy on eBay (you can see his details on the parcel in the vid) which included hefty p&p to come from there. But was the only place I could find a nice beige set to match the interior. I think it was worth it ;)

Would have been truly brilliant and helpful if it ran at normal speed. As it is WHY? run it so fast, it has ruined its usefulness
