    This video is a life saver! I would have never found the leak on my own. I put sealer in the crack and then used a hammer and punch to fold the gutter lip down all the way around kinda like a tea pitcher. No more leaks!

    I was taking off the fender but it's stuck in two areas (bottom left and right). There seems to be a screw or something and a square piece that's keeping it from coming off. Any ideas?

    Thank you, for this step by step ! It really helped my sister and I were able to fix mine! We went to local fleamarket bought and old license plate and bent it into shape just under the hole ,then screwed in place! Helps divert rain,,! Used windshield wiper tool remover, then lots of water proof sealant !

    Your fix was good! I'll add that I used a plastic sign so it couldn't wear through the cowl paint and cause rust. I also used 3M™ Windo-Weld™ Super Fast Urethane, 08609 in a caulking tube to glue the top edge of the plastic cowl cover down. I also bought new foam, and new clips from Amazon also. 1/4 Inch Wide X 1/8 Inch Thick High Density Closed Cell Foam Seal, Cowl Panel Push-Type Clips for Honda, Cowl Retainer Clip for Honda Acura 91515-SR3-000. ~$60 fix for a car we hope to drive another 5 years out and that sits outside all the time.

      I sealed everything. I cut the hole in the frame like you and flexsealed the area with 2 cans. I flexsealed literally everything under the cowl under the windshield. I siliconed all the trim on the roof and around the windshield. I bought new weather stripping for the doors. It’s still leaking somehow... Seeing that water was a sad sight 😑

    Hello I have a honda crv 1998 and when it rains it fills the left and right part of the cab floor with water just like yours. Are all the fixes you did necessary to completely get rid of the problem? Do I need to cut a hole in my car to seal those gaps between the metal pieces you showed? Or can I just seal up the crack from inside the cab ? Thank you this video was awesome I am glad you love your CRV enough to fix the problem !!

    • @jwdtube06
      @jwdtube06 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sealed mine from inside the cab using 3M seam sealer at the location shown in the video. I no longer have soaked floorboards and carpet after a heavy rain. I think the cowl issue on the passenger side would need to be addressed as well for a complete fix.

  • @DIYApprentice

    I tried the window cowl fix without thoroughly investigating the issue - no good. After I moved wire harnesses out of the way under the dash, I found that there was a trail of residue from the top-left corner down to the floor and a gap in the sealant. When I dug out the gap with a screwdriver, water started to dribble out; I could stick a pick tool all the way through the seam. I plan on cleaning it up, letting it dry, then applying some Moistop sealant that I used to install a window in my house.

    • @DIYApprentice
      @DIYApprentice 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I resealed the gap a week ago with Moistop sealant, and we've had some steady rain recently. I'm happy to report that the floor of the CR-V is completely dry :-) Hopefully, it will stay that way.

    • @robinmyers4114
      @robinmyers4114 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you did not need to cut a hole in the side of your crv to fix the issue ?

    • @DIYApprentice
      @DIYApprentice 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robin Myers No, I just removed the dash in my case. Maybe it's easier to get to that area by cutting a hole (dunno), but I didn't want to do that. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot, and the interior is still dry after the fix.

    Would removing the front fender provide access to the damaged drain area? I removed the clow to clear our debris then filled the water basin with water and sure enough water flowed inside my driver side floor panel from behind the wiring harnesses. I don't see a way to seal the leak from inside the cabin behind all the wiring. I also noticed several of the metal wiring harness brackets were rusted. Did't expect that since the vehicle has only been in California. 1998 Honda CRV

      +Paul Victor Great video - I completed the project yesterday (yes I removed the fender as this was not clear in the video. With the hole cut into the side I could see the water running back behind panel under the spout. I cleaned out all debris, spread Henry roofing cement over suspect areas, and lastly fabricated with sheet metal a channel to direct the water flow down so it would not accumulate under the spout and flow behind the panel.

It seams like it's coming from some harness under neath the dash but I'm not so sure because everything is wet on the drivers side only. To the point I felt a drip on my sneakers.
