19. The Benefits of Outside Hobbies
มุมมอง 714 วันที่ผ่านมา
There's a classic saying in our industry that if there's anything else you love to do as much or more than theater, do that. In my opinion, that advice is outdated. We've seen time and time again that some of the most successful performers are multi-passionate multi-hyphenates. They wear a lot of hats. Today we're talking about the benefits of having interests, hobbies, and even careers outside...

23. Healthy Belting: Is There Such a Thing?
มุมมอง 13หลายเดือนก่อน
Perhaps one of the greatest myths singers grow up hearing is "belting is bad for you!" If that were true, how could so many incredible musical theatre singers make decades long careers out of belting on stage, eight times a week? Granted, belting is a highly demanding style of singing, and there are certainly things to avoid if you want to do it well and have a lasting singing career. Today we'...

Today's conversation is all about creating...

Among Bre's many credits, she's most recently performed as Catherine of ...

Interesting. For our podcast, I'm interviewing someone who has started a college music audition coaching service. I didn't even know that existed until I discovered how many musical theater college audition coaches there are.
you have a beautiful voice!! can you sing chappell roan 😊
Well said. Best advice I ever got was 'imagine that there is a hard boiled egg in your throat and you are trying to sing around it. DO NOT tighten around it or there will be less air flow.' Don't strain! Learn to relax 😅
Are the 20s considered old?
It must take a lot of practice because I could not hear the difference.
Don’t what?
Can you actually control that? This sounds like it is a problem for me something I have not been able to fix despite going to several vocal teachers.
Every teacher tells me this. Breath in, hold, keep how it feels, and sing. For Screaming an growl, you have to learn it properly, so you won't be as intens and be as "open" as its needed, otherwise it will do damage in long term.
I don’t understand what it means to say keep how it feels. Keep out what feels? And how does that relate to the vocal cords? I’m just trying to understand.
@@YoruNoSora I have no idea what it means to say keep that feeling and sing. I mean, at least when I try it, it doesn’t change anything in my throat.
I rarely use vocal chords for vocals except for fry scream everything else is mostly vocal folds and the epiglottis or whatever it’s called lol tbf I’m not using clean vocals tho either blows my mind I can barely sing but I can scream and growl and make all sorts of wild noises Witt my throat pause😂😂😂😂😂
Your voice is so stunning!
Thank you😭
Sounds like you have to really like people 😂
❤
Okay so how do we fix it then if we are number 3?
Too much, and the flip😅
Hmm 2 or 3… not quite sure!
For me the first try was better. Without clips on throat.
3. The flip
I have problems with that. Thank you for your video. My voice make straight sound without vibrato.
Woahhhh! That was incredible! This is the first time I’ve heard you sing and you have a beautiful voice Cynthia!! And I love this tip!! Definitely gonna use that!!
Thanks 😄
