A great final from a Hearts point of view. Let us be very honest too - Hearts stopped pushing forward at 5-1. It could have been much worse for Hibs.

I grew up a Dons fan (my mum was from Aberdeen) and I was from Portsmouth. This is the first time I've seen that Aberdeen away strip.

I think the co-commentator described Hearts well (though he was talking specifically about this game)...Hearts started to look like they had lost confidence in themselves. Celebrating the draw when they should have lost...not how you become champions.

Jim Jeffries was a superb manager. He took Falkirk and turned them into a fantastic side with alot of players moving to clubs like Hearts and Celtic before he took over at Tynecastle. What a side he had.

I remember this game, first derby after a 0-7 game and we should have scored 10 that day. Turnbulls Tornadoes were starting to break up and we played them off the park.

What a day. I was 13 at the time. From getting in the car to head to septic park to getting back to gorgie for the boys getting back to the celebrations in the stadium on the Sunday. 🇱🇻♥️

The day we lost the league. A 4 or 5 goal hammering would have knocked the stuffing out of Smellic. Even St Liedown would have struggled to let 10 goals in.

After that game I actually thought we were going to win the league. Unfortunately the cruel hand of fate had other ideas.

First time I've seen this since the original broadcast, bizarre seeing that bloke coming onto the pitch. Tense match, Hearts lost to Motherwell at Tynecastle the following week and Killie beat Queen of the South 6-0 to snatch the second place and went up with Motherwell.

Fantastic memories.

Visited the cairn at Contalmaison last month. Overwhelming is an understatement. So proud of these footballers and supporters from every walk of life who answered their country's call. Possibly the original poster of this thread could rename it properly to McCrae's Battalion.
