I love the smell of old electronics, it's a particular smell of old circuit boards, heated components and those with motors & mechanisms like a burnt greasy smell. Bobby Brown makes 'Beach Cologne', why not an old electronics cologne, maybe call it: "Electronic Age", or something clever like that. What do you think?

From my service experience these P12 are terribly prone to malfunction of two things - the PSU and the central processor driving the unit. The failure usually starts like this: The movement of the mechanism is a little erratic, it might play a cassette OK but it won´t eject it afterwards and the machine can´t be powered on anymore BUT the red LED is still shining a little. Upon pressing the power button it lights up a little bit but it dimms again immediately. There is no simple solution for this. I have one of these right here, the PSU is working fine but the rest of the electronics is gone. There are no spares.

Dear Lana. I have a question. Do you have and collect CRT television devices with integrated VHS videorecorders too? I had one of these devices in my teenage years (early 2000s), made by Philips. The tv and videorecorder combination was outstanding! Young Ones quote by Vyvyan (Adrian Edmondson): "Yes, we got a video!"

I had few Panasonic VCSs, one rather inexpensive model the reel load sensor must have failed, OMG it went completely mental, wouldn't slow down as the supply reel filled up, BANG, broke the tape at the end. Never plugged in that VCR again 😢
