There's a great way to maximise points life, and that is ?? Tweak the cheaply/ poorly made points to make sure that the contacts close squarely with each other. I've used pointy nosed pliers.
Learning some history.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the I have a 1939 Johnson outboard 10hp very rare rope starting
I love that 1904 Johnson motor.
I need to go to this place, I got a nineteen thirty five champion and a nineteen fifty five mercury five horse twin cylinder
Love it! Thanks for sharing. Working on my own vintage '59 Evinrude 10hp and '60 Wizard 12 hp.
nice job on the photography
Great job! Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Sure was a good meet this year.
Enjoyed seeing all the rowboat motors!
What a great meet indeed! Beautiful day, great location, great engines and rigs for sure. That Big Four surely provides power effortlessly, but getting that Quad going is surely a project!
Quincy looper was NOT the first loop charged motor. That title goes to Ralph Evinrude in 1922. He also was the first to produce a belt drive rotary valve induction, in the early 30s
I love thinking of the old men out trolling in these way back when. Half the fun was playing with the motors
very good tutorial Finn I use the same capacitors but I learned a better way to solder from the film and I was also unaware that there were different shrink ratios for the tubing ,your soldering tool was very elegant and small compared to my 50 year old weller
Is really antique engine boat
Your videos are great. I really enjoy watching your videos. I wish you success always
Thank you very much. It is always nice to hear positive feedback.
I have a 1955 feathercraft vagabond that i put a 90 Johnson 2 stroke on . The silver bullet . She is a wicked fast little boat i have a blast with her .
Whoa! What was that? That was crazy cool. I've never seen one of those before. I want to know more.
I assume you are referring to the small outboard at the end of the video. That is a Clarke Troller. The cylinder and rotating assembly is completely submerged. Prop shaft is the crankshaft and the prop is the flywheel as well as the rope plate.
💞Wow💛💜💛💜💜💜💜
Looks like fun to me! Hope the lady that took a tumble is ok. Thanks!

@@74nova36what’s the difference !
Fin, thanks for the video. Looks like a nice place for a meet.
My brother slipped and his hand went on that starter pully and eat it up jack
Thank you Finn for the great video!
WOW! Great turn out on a beautiful day! Thank for posting.
Nice 👍
The Konig was a very unique design with one disc valve controlling induction on four cylinders with just two carburetors, it was also used in grand prix motorcycle races to good effect until Kim Newcombe the lead rider and developer was killed in 1973, Dieter Konig was so devastated he dropped any further involvement with bike racing.
I'd love to hear these old engines run.
It was about '69 and the neighbor had a Merc race boat. Sucker had 3, 3 foot straight bell pipes. The only time I heard it was 06:30 one Sunday Morning. The thing screamed 0 to ??? 10 Thousand RPM in about .5 sec. and he shut it off. He did that about 5 times, all he told me was he was going racing. Now that I think about it much quicker than a half second probably a tenth of a second....a blink of the eye.
@@u2mister17 Those old 2 strokes sound good. You don't really see them anymore.
25 Hp seems like alot of HP for 1929? Did they use a rubber water pump impeller on this engine or some other means back in the old days?
25 was a lot in 1929 for an outboard. The ‘29 quad was the second highest rated motor only beaten by the 1929 Johnson V-45 making 26hp. Keep in mind that is for non-racing motors. Elto/Evinrude didn’t rate their racers, but the racing Johnson VR-45 was rated at 32 from the factory. The 29 quad used a metal impeller not to dissimilar from rubber impellers. It was also the first to implement that type. The year before it used the prop wash to push water through the system.
Very cool and very interesting. Thank you for sharing!
Almost a hundred years old and still runs great! Thanks for sharing.
Smooth and quiet! That baby runs great!
That more sounds "tight" and runs great!
Finn Thanks for posting. Jay Neat motor !
love the two Star Tank boats racing great filming job
Thank you. Not much of a race, but they are definitely fun.
Good video. Thanks
Finn Thank you for starting this channel. I sure miss going to meets. Hopefully in the next year I’ll get new knees and be able to attend once again. I’ve got a few short videos from meets on my channel.
Thank you Steve. Hope to see you at a meet next year.
Glad to see them old motors running
Nice video. Makes me want to come to this meet.
