Thank you for the video. Finally got my bolt out but it was a struggle. Some advice for others so they don't make my mistake. Tried various things and then started drilling and tried with torx and allen key but just couldn't get enough traction. Tried with the screw type of extractor but too soft and just sheared the thread. I bought the Sealy set of five extractors shown here for £10. I can't remember the exact drill sizes but I had it drilled out to maybe 7-8mm and perhaps 1cm down. I was over eager and tried with the second largest Sealey extractor. It went in fine but when I tried to turn it with an adjustable spanner it snapped. So got hardened steel in there and an absolute bugger to drill out. It took me ages and several 6mm drill bits but eventually got it out (struggle with both cobalt and tungsten carbide and had to go very slow) Then drilled more. Went down to about 2cm with 6mm then slightly less depth with 8.5mm. Then just drilled little at top with 10mm. So I sort of created my own taper. The largest Sealey extractor went in well and didn't grind it down. Then couldn't get it to budge. I was wary of it snapping so was a bit cautious. I was about to get an adaptor so I could use my long bar on it but getting fed up just went for it. I had an adjustable spanner on it and basically stood on the end putting most of my body weight on it and it shifted.

Oh yes after the first extractor snapped I looked for a pro to come and do it. The guy wanted £150 to come to me! £50 if went to him but had flat tyre so that was impossible.

Why Peugeot put stupid lock nuts on wheels. I have to do it for two of mine now. Brought car and didn't even think about wheel nut sockets. One thing il check when buying from now on

With Electrolux/Zanussi that use such heater, a more common fault is with the heater relay in the control unit. These heat up and de-solder from heat. Replacement recommended, plus a wire soldered to the PCB lead to take away future heat.

Many thanks for posting this really helpful video. I set about drilling my bolts out today and I am glad to report it all went well. I would add that if you are going to try this then try and keep your drill bits as central as possible. I went a bit pissed on mine and caught the wheels thread slightly, not a huge problem but best avoided if you can. I used a 6mm cobalt bit followed by an 8mm cobalt bit and drilled slowly with lots of pressure and the drills bit in lovely and steady. Dont go high speed as the drill doesn't bite into the metal as well. One difference from the video is I offered an Allen key up to the 8mm hole and tapped it into the hole with a few taps of the club hammer. I then got a bar on the key and applied some leverage, I was fearing the key would snap or bend but to my great relief out came the bolt. Just got to get a set of non-locking Peugot bolts now. Thanks again for the video, saved me a lot of grief and got my Mrs back on the road. Top man!!

Hi Rubbiks, the screw extracters were too long and pointed. I had to grind them down to a wider girth so it could bite better in the drilled hole.

Thanks for this post - it gave me the confidence to use this technique, when all the garages I talked to about my problem wanted to weld another bolt on to the stuck one, thus trashing the wheel. I bought a set of Teng extractors from FFX, who offered overnight delivery. Excellent firm. I was much more cautious than you when drilling, not wanting to break a bit off in the bolt. But you had no problems, so perhaps I was being a wimp. Anyway, job done. Like you, I curse the tyre fitters who overtightened the wheel bolts - but I also curse Peugeot-Citroen, for a bolt design that is truly crap. My car is actually a Toyota Proace Verso, but they're all made on the same line. I have removed all these security bolts and fitted standard ones, and I recommend anyone who has a key relying on four little lugs unevenly spaced around a circular key to do the same.

The air gun monkey strikes again! I'm a mobile tyre fitter based in Merseyside, and I've lost count the amount of times I've gone to a job where the locking wheel nut has been ridicuously overtightened by the local tyre fitting village idiot who loves his air gun. This is a brilliant video, and the same procedure applies to Citroen locking wheel nuts too as they use the same type.
