Alpine CDA-7897. This 20 year old beast has been in storage for over 15 years.
มุมมอง 1.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a unit I purchased new and has been in storage and forgotten about until recently. I had to go through a lot of stuff to thin out a bit and was shocked. I totally forgot about having this stereo. Test fired it in an old truck to do a function test and it didn’t skip a beat. These things are beasts. Even at 20 years old !

John Deere 400 DIY front end loader quick connect and function with rear counter weight.
มุมมอง 9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A piece I built for my garden tractor. Cost was roughly under $500. The front end loader kits for these tractors are rare and very expensive. This however worked for me. A great forum link here where I posted a few pics of the assembly. www.wfmachines.com/threads/small-pictorial-of-a-front-end-loader-i-diyed-for-my-400.137199/#post-1095309

John Deere 400. Clean up and compression check

This is a machine I got from a friend of mine that’s been sitting in the weeds along while. Cleaned out a bunch of debris and a field mouses nest. Checking to see the good and the bad.

Sump pump drain and field run off update
Had one I bought new in 2002... got stolen out of my car in 2003. Sad times.
I’m new to these 400 just bought one from 1982. I think the 4 wheeled decks are replacement decks if I’m not mistaken but you never know!
Overprice outdated stereo. It’s cool but not for $800 dollars tf
Did you sell it
Nice. Can you show us all of your Wisteria and tell us if they did bloom, and how long after did it bloom upon arrival? Also, How tall was it when it arrived? Is it a repeat bloomer?
One of the two is still thriving. The one that didn’t make it last winter I feel was my own fault. As I did not get the root ball far enuf down to protect it from a freeze. The other issue is suppressing bull ants that seem to love the leaves on these in my area of west Maryland. The larger of the two that did make it did not bloom however my reading on these are that it takes a few seasons after planting for it to start. I planted these next to a locust tree that I topped. The idea is to give it a strong base to over come. It seems to be thriving fast in growth so far even with the set backs I’ve had in my application
Thats clean
Great simple explanation
Hello what size are the front tires
Hey man, don’t stop uploading JD 400 content. I have 3 of them and as you already know there isn’t really a lot of videos on YT of them. I enjoy your content and hope you are well! Keep uploading!
Hey thanks. I have several my self. I’ve had a busy season so far and haven’t had many issue repairs this season so far to film. If you have any issues or ideas please feel free to ask.
I love my 400, getting ready to put my deck back on after sharpening the blades.
They are very tuff and well built machines.
@@socialdragon1743 they sure are
Is this still available?
This is the only CDA that's been in my 99 Civic and it's time for another one. I know what the price is for this brand new. Would you take 700 dollars for it, if it's still for sale.
if you send frederickvanpelt at ya hoo a message i can send more pics and a second vid
i put a log splitter pump on mine she can pick back of a car up
I had the thought of doing that. Did you have a mount for it already or did you fabricate one.
@@socialdragon1743 i fabricated 1
i got the jd 316 i had a jd 325 i miss it but now tryna find a 400 series jd
@@MrMrkeith018 they are out there. I picked up a few. One to restore and keep running and a few to take apart and reconditioning parts for spares. I’ll have a tractor on a rack for when I make mistakes and break things lol
@@socialdragon1743 lol i swear i love these tractors these our adult toys have fun bro until next time friend....
Do you still have this 400 or any 400 series? I’m looking for a project
What area are you In ?
@@socialdragon1743 Buffalo NY but I can drive to Maryland
@@stevenbeach748 I generally don’t sell stuff I pick up. I have a few roller but I’ve noticed when I get rid of things I then soon after have a need for them. Parts are getting hard as these are collectible now and many people choose to do restorations. I can tell you there is a few JD 400 specific pages on face book where they pop up in your area a good bit.
@@socialdragon1743 ok thanks
How much you want for it. I’ll buy it for $100
😆I’m sure you can find a great parts unit for sale on eBay. They will cost ya 3 times that for parts or repair though 🤣
Bro you can buy the face plate for 100 lol
?
Going to post it through eBay this week. Waiting on an auction to end first so I can post a reasonable buy it now.
How much u asking for it
That's a heavy bucket. You have no where near enough weight on the back. I made a 12x12x24 concrete block for mine. Should be about 300#. Still loose traction when it's full of dirt or gravel.
I’m rathe close to 300.that steel frame and 1/4” plates are heavy The issue is I have to re-ballast the rear wheels since I changed tires.
Good video. Anyone know where I can get one if these decks with all the components?
there is a face book page for john deere 400s, id check there.
where did you order you head gaskets from? thanks
i purchased from isavetractors.com
What did you figure out? Did the other pump fix the problem?
Sure did, pump replacement worked out fine. The spring clip missing allowed for the bearing to walk. The inside of the packing spread about a 1/4” causing an internal bypass.
🌟 Keep up the great work! I think you should use promosm.! ! You could use it to grow your channel!!
Still have the fender deck/pan?
if you are in western maryland and interested, i cant ship it
Just picked up this same size wisteria from my local Home Depot for $24.99. Are the prices better with the company that sent you yours? I’d love to get a couple more! Thanks
No, actually they are far more expensive, id be interested in knowing what name nursery they are from?
actually i just looked it up, these are 3 to 5 year old trees already, ive seen good and bad on doing root stock, some have good luck while others not so much. also depends on if you are looking to train it as a vine or a tree, i myself am looking for it to do a stand alone tree, training them to twist together into one self standing plant.
I have a 79 400 with a factory deck starting in 40 ...... so yours is before that and prob a 77 deck going by my gut and the hood decal.
This machine has probably been repainted and badged at some point. This particular machine by data plate and serial number is actually a 75. I have also a 76. And the one I posted about recently this passed month or so is an 80.
Very helpful. I like where you went over likely problems with the lift arms on the mower deck and how you fixed yours. Gotta keep them working. Thanks for making this video.
Thanks. And it’s true. I’d rather do work on this one before working on any type of standard lawn mower. With this tractor being a 1975 I’ve been cutting close to 3 acres of uneven and hilly grounds with this machine. This is the only machine I’ve had that handles this type of punishment and keeps going.
I ordered one of their bonanza peach trees. I hope it arrives in as good as shape as yours
this is my first experience with them, and so far its been a very good one. the vines are thriving well even though we are having such a late start on spring this year. thanks for looking !
@@socialdragon1743 my tree arrived and its stronger, greener and fuller then the other 5 trees I ordered from different companies. It seems they might be expensive but worth it
@@myrhodeislandreds3885 was my thought as well. A tad on the costly side but seemed thoughtful as to the timing for transplantation as I waited 2 or 3 months before it shipped. I have to add I was warned on the site at the time I purchased. Glad you had a good experience as well !
This was super helpful. I just bought a 1977 JD 400 and had no idea how to get the mower deck on!!! Thank you.
thanks, i am glad it helped. im going to have several more vids on these. i have had the 400 series tractors down to the frame and back up. ask if you need anything ! and thanks for looking !
@@socialdragon1743 I will most definitely take you up on that offer! :-) I'm looking to restore mine and it's pretty clean to begin with! Thank you
@@timcallahan1055 just started on another one today. I’m hooked on these things.
@@socialdragon1743 I just got a weird problem = My PTO shaft for the mower is hitting my tie rod! Any idea what could be causing that?
@@timcallahan1055 i would think something in the steering system is bent, either the cross steer rod or the actuator.
