Earnest suggestion for Slate here, I hope it gets to the right people. I tried VSX with my Focal Clears. I did my best to calibrate the Clears to the software which took some effort. But my goodness, the result was exceptional. If the og VSX headphones are very nice, this took it to absolutely incredible; like being in a real mastering studio. My first suggestion is for Slate to include a "flat" button on the output stage, so that users could put their own calibrated headphones after it like I've described. My second suggestion, either in addition or alternately, is for Slate to offer a pair of super nice open backs that rival Audezes LCD4s, Clears/Utopias etc and offer as an upgrade/super platinum option, so that the software can be calibrated really well like the current VSX headphone. I bet every pro mixer would get the premium pair because it means they can go on vacation and still work, and it would be like being in their studio. Personally I would pay serious coin for the latter if it meant I could get the last word in portable mixing capabilities. The reason for my suggestinos is that the current VSX is landmark product, but I can't mix a whole record on them yet. They're not in the same league as being in front of my Barefoots or Neumanns, but the VSX+Focal Clears is so close it makes be go "wait were the speakers on?" I thought this was cool until I realized all it’s doing is picking a pre made beat from a library. It would be way more interesting if it actually made a beat to your riff like a real drummer would

Awesome product but the headband on mine took a crap after about a year of studio use fwiw.

I remember being told that big updates to VSX were coming in 2024... still waiting!

Maybe we need an updated version with better materials on the build and yeah more comfortable. All you have to do is transfer the tech in to another headphone and maybe fix what others has said needs fixing. People that know headphones would tell you exactly what to tweak for better user experience. But I get it takes money to build another headphone guess we should see

Don't see many 3/4 beats

When using multiple outputs in logic, I try to bounce everything to audio, but the cymbals cut out after a bar or so. Very annoying and unnatural sounding. Even tried bouncing in realtime. Doesn’t happen when I leave it in midi . Only the bounces. Anyone know how to fix this?

It makes sense to use a reference headphone and I dont care using the VSX Headphone. The downside, it is not comfortable and to small for my ears. I can not use it for max 30 minutes. So using it for a complete mix session is impossible.

If VSX is a plugin, not systemwide app, maybe it could work with “other headphones + Sonarworks systemwide”. Only the hardware inconsistencies would still be there. You could, however, send your HPs to Sonarworks for individual calibration. And all this would require a different version of vax software.

I'm following along with this using the exact same kit and patterns etc, but my SSD sounds way brighter - are you using any EQ / post chain for the video. Just curious

Really cool. I bought it straight away. Is it also possible without a wav file... Maybe via sidechain? For MIDI signals. I'd rather ask before I search myself to death. 😉

How do you sync the tempo to your audio? None of the grooves match up to my audio and I don't see anywhere to sync tempo or even change it in the sampler.

Nice! How do I drop to Cubase? It doesn't let me do that.

Can you use both hands within the plugins? f.ex. with 1176 adjusting input and output simultaneously as you would do on analog.

I have been trying to use BFD with my edrums and could not for the life of me get the hihat to function correctly.Just tried the free version of your VST and it works straight away !! Thank you so much Steve I now have a realistic sound which is so much nicer to jam with.Also knowing it works means I can confidently spend money on new packs :D

I love it when a company releases its groundbreaking AI announcement and the comment section is full of requests to fix the features they ignored whilst fiddling with AI. Adding a bit of machine learning to enhance a minor function does not bring any value to SSD, but it will make it cost more.

e-drum hihat control is so bad on SSD5 that it is unplayable. It is so absolutely horrendous that it makes SSD5 absolutely useless for e-drums.

Hi, love SSD 5.5, but your 3/4 signature inside is broken: it deflects 3 Bars of 4 instead of 4 Bars of 3....
