This is a project of HAND Philippines (Health Assistance and Network Development) thru Coordinator RND Cristina Sison; and Founder of HarvestPlus and Biofortification, World Food Prize Laurete Dr. Howdy Bois. SEARCA, thru Director Glenn Gregorio provides seeds and technical support. Hon. Miko Pelegrina and LATCHER Myla Gregorio, both from LB MIYCF Action Team has been helping in their capacities as private citizens, and as municipal councilor, and PhD in Human Nutrition student, respectively.
HAND previously provided assistance to Gawad Kalinga through its medical mission in 2017. Gawad Kalinga was identified for the community vegetable garden as an assistance program of the US based NGO in lieu of its medical mission in 2020, which had to be postponed due to community quarantine measures brought about by the pandemic. With the success of Gawad Kalinga community vegetable garden, Councilor Miko Pelegrina is facilitating further support from the LGU and helping identify other potential areas in Los Baños to establish more community vegetable gardens, with the Gawad Kalinga as a model of success.
This is also a collaboration with the GK Homeowners officers and volunteers headed by Mrs.Minda Jose.
