2 days of rain made my giant string of bananas hanging basket too heavy for the hook, it crashed to the ground.... so incredibly sad!!

Where are you located? by state? i live in zone 10b near Disneyland, Ca and it's too hot. they just burned away. I love Petunia's but these budworms keep on eating them so I surrendered. Now, im into tropical plants.

How do you care for the Elephant Ears in the winter months?
After our first frost, I cut them out of their containers, cut the stems back to about 6 inches, place them in the garage to dry down for a few weeks. Then place them in a cardboard box and into my basement in a dark corner to overwinter. Early March I pot them up and start watering, after last frost I plant them outside. 🌸♥️

I grew these from seed for the first time this year. I ended up with 3 plants that grew to about 9 inches and then just sat there for the rest of the summer. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. So disappointing ☹
Oh no! I'm sorry, that's so disappointing. You might try adding 2 handfuls of peat moss to your potting mix, in my experience they seem to thrive in slightly acidic soil. Don't give up! I'm growing them again next year, just need to figure out another spot in the garden.

Most shade lovers like impatiens, begonias or foliage perennials like Brunera and coral bells. The newer varieties of Coleus can handle full sun, so the list is endless. Happy gardening🌸

Thank you♥️ Yes I bring a lot inside during winter. My elephant ear, caladiums and cannas I save the bulbs and replant in spring. All the succulents and houseplants live in my basement grow room over winter ♥️🌸

Amazing! I have such a terrible time growing begonias. I seem to over or underwater and they wilt or rot. Will give them a try again.
For me, they only seem to do well outdoors. When I bring them in for the winter they struggle. I'm still trying to figure out the secret to growing them indoors successfully. 🤞
