The Warehouse speaker sounds wonderful with the Hot Rod. I added a subtle amount of transparent overdrive with the VDL L’Overdrive. It’s a Blues Breaker circuit. I love how it sounds with a clean Fender amp, especially with single coils. Nothing like it.

    Wayne Krantz' music and playing is my antidote to standard pop and popular styles of guitar playing/shredding. Juggles my guitar brain. So fresh and free sounding rhythms, what a trip!

    • @kennethgarcia25

      @@nickkellie And, what, loves the big black tape over the design?!!! Apparently, he does not appear to have a more aesthetically appealing response. Perhaps if it said Wayne Krantz in big letters that would be better than James Tyler, but either is certainly more attractive than an ill fitting, unmatched wad of off-black tape at only one corner.

    True story, I was once sitting in the third seat from the door, at the bar, to my left, closer to the door, was John Mclaughlin. It was like 2002/3. After one of the tunes, probably shirts off, or something, he looks at me and say, "Holy shit." And I said, "Right?"

    This is an excerpt from "Funk". You're inspiring me to go have a good listen to this set#2. 8/25/05 set#1 is stunning, a high point for K3 of that period. The head out on this version of "Funk" is a Carlock masterclass (not that you can hear it here, but just saying..). It's interesting to read other people's insightful take on WK, the examples you give here I typically classify these moments as WK "resetting" the "inside", as in the inside of the tonal center(s) gets "refreshed" by playing out in passages. It also sounds to me like the band patiently looking around for where the next take-off point is coming... and I'll add "contemplative" to my perspective.

    • @Fishies125
      @Fishies125 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      uubuuh Brilliant way to think about it! Never really thought about it as a reset. It certainly does refresh the ear to the “inside” harmony. It also helps him reach melodic areas that he wouldn’t come by just sticking to Dorian.

    i would put this exact trio up with the best of all time, like the Coltrane Quartet and Brad Mehldau trio with Jorge Rossy. not a direct comparison of music style but in the tightness and unreal musicianship on display as they support each other and basically crush it together

    • @Fishies125
      @Fishies125 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      joe hundertmark Right?? Their absolute unity here - keeping in mind it’s COMPLETELY improvised other than the heads - is mind-blowing. Sounds like they composed it all beforehand. I would say this is one of Krantz’s most powerful nights ever. Shame he didn’t include much of it on Your Basic Live '06.
