I actually subscribed to Inkarnate and it has been a major headache. Few tutorials; hard to understand; not intuitive. I will be looking elsewhere soon for a map making tool. Thank-you for the video!
For me, Inkarnate was intuitive enough, but I struggled more with the rigidity of its features. I’d suggest more user-friendly programs, but for now, my knowledge is limited to what I shared in the video. That said, there are some map simulators on Steam that I’d like to try out. As obvious as it may sound, I’ll always encourage you to grab some paper and a pen and give yourself the chance to learn. Not only is it fun and stimulating, but you might even discover a new hobby!
@@renflowergrapx I am not sure what you mean by using pencil and paper to learn what?
@@WillyEast Drawing maps! Since we are talking about mapmaking tools.
@@renflowergrapx Drawing the maps for me is the easier part but just learning some of the digital tools has been tedious for now.
@ oh! That’s interesting, what’s the difficult part for you in the digital conversion? Finding an approachable software?
Does anyone else hate that all these tools are online? I like to have my apps completely offline local on my computer, it shouldn't need to access the internet ever. All my files stored on MY machine that I can access at any time.
I completely understand! I often feel pressured to subscribe to "increasingly expensive monthly plans" (COUGH COUGH ADOBE) just to be able to create and work. It’s so discouraging and makes me feel dependent, which I really don’t like. Sometimes I try to rediscover older methods because I hate feeling like I can only "function" with the help of digital online tools. That’s why I explore software and websites that can speed up the process, but I always recommend experimenting and learning as much as possible. For me, it’s the only way to truly enjoy the creative process and maybe develop irreplaceable skills.
Dungeondraft and Wonderdraft, not free but a one time payment and can be used completely offline after install.
I loved the map and the narration! I wish I was on this tournament.
Aww! Thank you so much! It wouldn’t be a tournament of strength, but a political one. One interesting thing about this quest is that the two teams are formed "randomly," with members from different empires. The idea is that the teams themselves will have internal conflicts. Maybe some empires have a history of tension, or maybe others secretly work together to secure two out of the three spots to display their flags. As a DM, the challenge I would add is figuring out and recognizing these hidden alliances, which could influence the bigger lore events. If you think about it, they might even have to sacrifice their empire’s prestige to support an alliance that helps them in a larger scenario. :D
Wow! Will you be my DM? 😅 That was an awesome description. Bravissima!
Oh no, I don’t think I’m a good DM! I rely a lot on improvisation to give the players as much freedom as possible. But then I end up scrambling to tie everything together and avoid plot holes. My campaigns usually turn into a mix of a soap opera and a social uprising movement, haha! But, well, Thank you!
@@renflowergrapx that sounds like a lot of fun!

Molto grazie. 😊
Grazie a te!
Nice work and map. Do you write stories to/about your creations?
Hi! I draw tons of maps, but that's not all... With every drawing, it's inevitable for me to imagine the entire context surrounding it. But if you're asking if I write or share those ideas... not yet, kinda. Though on Patreon, I do include situational descriptions for the battlemaps I create! But I don't have storytelling videos about those =)
Let's chill <3
That's exactly the plan!
that's really amazing and impressive .love it so much <3
Thank you!
Sigh. Wildly envious of your talent and the many years of hard work you’ve spent honing your craft.
Aww! Videos where I only showcase my drawings usually don’t get a big audience, but the people who do watch leave such lovely messages like yours. Thank you, it really warms my heart!
I could spend a hundred hours on Inkarnate and not get the map looking good. I’m impressed that you got something that looked good. I am not a fan of inkarnate. I am, however, becoming one of yours. Thanks for your videos. I tried Watabou years ago… you are right, its improved hugely. Be safe, be well.
I think I may have been a bit too harsh on Inkarnate in this video, but everything was very spontaneous, and I honestly didn’t expect such a reduction in features! Maybe one day, I’ll challenge myself with the subscription version. In the end, you know, it was fun and pushed me out of my comfort zone. Thank you for your kind words <3 I hope to discover other programs that are helpful for those diving into fantasy cartography.
I swear, everytime I watch one of your videos, I just want to sit down, boot up Photoshop and draw a map (which is what I'll be doing right now). Thanks!
@@janthummler3548 oh yay!!! That’s exactly what i wish for! I love when creatives keep it inspirational. Let me know if you test one app in particular from this video too :P

@@danielemezzaroma6763 ciao Daniele! Controllo il link se é ancora funzionante! Pensavo di averlo collegato a deviant art!
ps: Ho aggiornato il link, se vuoi riprovare! Spero di trovare un modo migliore per condividere i materiali.
I have been using the pro version of Inkarnate for two years and it is worth every penny for me. Remember it is a business that relies on income to run and the free portion is just to familiarize. There are so many different styles and formats it is capable of. I can use it for making world maps, traditional 2e dungeon maps, battle maps, scenes, etc... for all my module creations. And it is getting added to and improved all the time. I would recommend someone browsing through the explore feature there to see some of the amazing creations possible.
Woah! Rotating brush tips with the arrow keys?! What have I been doing for the last 10 years? Thanks so much for this hot tipp!
I KNOW, RIGHT!? I’ve been manually rotating the brush from the options panel my whole life. :D I was so shocked to discover this trick last year! Still, my muscle memory hasn’t quite caught up, haha
your maps are so inspiring!
Aww Ty so much! Can't wait to draw more of them! Actually planning in drawing in a livestream, but I can't tell how much this would fit my super-distracted mind :D
Another amazing map! I ❤️ the different versions!!
Aww, Ty! This drawing was a pain for me. Since the original canvas was lost last year, after 30+ hours working on it, It happened when my PC abandoned me for good. Since then I've tried to replicate the concept, but I feel this piece in particular doesn't have the details, size and charm of the first one. I have to get real and forget about that one that now lives only in my memories =) Hoping to produce better maps in the future!
@@renflowergrapx, losing work like that is the worst! It still turned out pretty beautifully!
This is so awesome, Ren! I love the design and the perspective, and the lighting is amazing! Wonderful! Gorgeous! Fantastic! 😸 Molto bello! (…Or is it molto bella, come to think about it, lol.)
Hey there, Ty so much! I wish I could make this piece more "sinister". Sometimes it is just following the flow in our creative session.

Ty Sooo much!
You need way more subscribers - such nice work, both the map, tutorials and your video style. Thanks...
Awww, ty! Managing the channel isn’t easy since I’m not a full-time TH-camr. Between drawing, clients, Patreon, and videos, I can’t always get everything done. But I don’t mind if my audience is small-I’m happy with it because it reflects the time I can give. I’m glad to get to know those who’ve chosen to follow along, so… thanks, and welcome!
Hello Madam, I saw your videos and was impressed by the quality of your content. However, after analysis, I noticed there needs to be improvement for getting more views and subscribers. You are working hard but the main motive to reach an exact audience is not fulfilled. You are working for your audience if the video can't reach them. That's a waste of your energy and time also. I will show the problem in your video and share how to fix it Only say 'yes' if you want to grow your channel.
Hello Rumi, you’re very kind to show interest. However, I am very happy with the results I have so far. My audience is genuinely interested in the content I provide, and the growth is slow and organic, but most importantly, it's compatible with my pace and needs. I love the small milestones and don’t see anything wrong with that. Thank you for your attention; I am not interested.
Awesome video, thanks!
On point like everytime <3
Yaaay thank you so much for this!
@@AmberTBarclay looking forward to seeing the first results 👁️

❤
That was an awesome video! Workflow is critical. Do you have more videos like this planned?
Oh wow! I created this video to answer a specific question from a viewer, so I didn’t expect it to spark more interest. I actually didn’t plan it because I thought it wouldn’t be engaging. If you notice, I have workflow videos on battlemaps on my channel from the beginning… Maybe the fact that they were in Italian didn’t help, since it’s already a small niche. I’d really love to dive into this more! I’m curious about the specific topics people are interested in. :P Also because... If I don’t have a clear direction, I tend to info-dump for HOURS!
@renflowergrapx Well, I have no experience with Photoshop, but I think your method and philosophy apply to any program. Honestly, you could make shorts of the keystrokes and shortcuts you shared in this video, for example. "How to draw on a grid in Photoshop" is an example of a great potential short, just from this video! Another great one is "using shift to make straight lines." Would it help to have specific ideas or questions?
@@1n20DnD I've often thought about making shorts. One thing that holds me back as a content creator is the idea of producing repetitive material. I tend to avoid creating content that’s already available. And you, having been a content creator for much longer than I have, know that this platform often thrives on the concept of doing what others do, but doing it better. I try to share when I feel I can offer something different, even if it’s just a slight nuance. I will consider your advice, tho. I appreciate the time you’re taking to help me, and maybe I just need to step a little beyond my rigid perspective (rigid thinking, oops). As for questions... well, you shouldn’t ask unless you have genuine curiosity. I want this profile to be a safe archive and a welcoming space for anyone passing through.
@@renflowergrapx as long as you keep making videos, I'm going to keep watching them! I've enjoyed all of them.

Your work is EXCEPTIONAL, and you’ve inspired me to at least give it a try. Other than that, I hope your channel grows a lot; you deserve it. Hugs!"
Yay! I’ve saved another map today, my work here is done! Haha, jokes aside, I’m really glad you reconsidered. There’s so much a map can convey... Don’t get too caught up in what you think it *should* represent; focus on what you want to communicate!

Loose the background music, update your mic or turn up the volume, and use less head in bubble screen time. You've nothing to hide.
@@JohnMiller-te4ov hey John, i know half of what you’ve mentioned- but i’ll give that a chance 👀
All right, after researching it I have understood the head in bubble is the circle where i appear! Thank you so much for the feedback. i have already started to reduce its size and I'll continue to downgrade and balance the graphic elements. About the microphone: this is a real issue for me. My microphone is decent, but my ambient is very noisy and when I filter all the background I end up with a very compressed track! Hope i can work on it too. After all, I'm an illustrator and all I do with editing (video and audio) is very basic :D. Again thank you for your feedback!
Oh, and if you are up to this, can you tell if anything improved from this video you have commented to this one instead th-cam.com/video/g4NCtCdTa5g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=r5199AC4ngyh8U6H ?
@@renflowergrapx I've watched nearly the whole thing. More informative, better presented. Overall better. Only issue is maybe more personal background music makes it much more difficult to focus. @@JohnMiller-te4ov Thank you John for dedicating more time to this. I appreciate you. Yes, I know I should not structure all the changes on a single user, but you are not the first person telling me about the mic, tho ! <3
This... was posted at a very opportune time for me. I've been dealing with an art-induced anxiety attack all day, and some of this stuff I really needed to hear.
I am sorry for what you are experiencing. Sadly this world isn’t for creative people sometimes. The way we breathe through our art is a burden, especially in the way this economy is structured. Not mentioning the technology we have today and when it is improperly used, exploiting creative works. But you know, sometimes we feel alone in our struggles… and we are not. So it is necessary to remind ourselves we are not alone and many people are sharing our experiences. Take some rest, explore your creativity in an healthy way, in the same way it healed and guided you in your whole life. And if sometimes you don’t feel to… it is ok. Take a pause, recharge, explore, “lose time” - it won’t be really lost. It will be spent on your journey, and it is damn fine. 😮
Ehi ehi!
Eh, difficile é raccogliere quelle mani :) - cmq tiratela meno eh
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I love watching you draw, enjoy your music choices, and I'm an Italian American, so I love listening to you speak in either language. (even though I am not fluent in Italian) I'm glad you're feeling better about things after your summer break. Thanks to Google Translate for providing the Italian translation in this message. 😅
Google Translate is how I first learned basic english words. Even now, I’m still working on improving my listening skills, but I realize that to really learn a language, you need to actively speak and engage in real conversations-just like a child would. 😊 By the way, thank you for watching! I was hesitant about publishing this video; this is actually the second time I’ve recorded it. I’m not sure how personal I _should_ get in this space, and I worry a bit about taking up people’s time. But I felt that I needed to share this message. We often romanticize everything, and sometimes it’s important to remember that it’s okay to stumble, to fail, and to take things slow.
@renflowergrapx how personal to get is a decision all TH-cam creators need to make. I've struggled with it, too. I also haven't made a video in a long time. 😬 It seems to me that authenticity is one of the keys to growing a channel. We won't be able to please everyone, and that's okay. I appreciate your perspective as much as I appreciate your skill. And, I relate to much of what you shared here.
@@1n20DnD I'm sorry if you relate =) We should treat ourselves better, Indeed.
@@renflowergrapx indeed!

Um Tore zu zeichnen bitte auf die Mauer zwischen Türmen klicken und dann auf das Zahnrad dann sollte abhängig von der Mauer ein Tor eingefügt werden. To draw gates, please click on the wall between towers and then on the cogwheel, then depending on the wall a gate should be inserted
