    Love this video! You are so relatable and so helpful. I am still technically in the mainstream church because in my area, there is no other options that I’m aware of. I am finding it so hard to sit through a church service now and even find myself angry listening to some of what is said. We have even had our pastor go as far as saying that a person that goes against him is doing the work of Satan. I almost feel like I am orphaned at this point. Our church, as well as all of the others that I was raised in, all teach pre-trip rapture and they also teach that the churches in Revelation are church “ages“. I always thought that it was very odd that they thought we were the church of Laodicea but they claim the promise for the Philadelphia church to prove pre-trib rapture. Dispensationalism is really difficult. It is so hard to retrain your mind and not see things through that lens when that’s all you’ve been taught. I am so thankful for your teachings and so many other people out there who have really helped to explain so many things that I had questions about. 🥰

    I enjoy your videos but I have a few questions how do you feel about Colossians chapter 2:16-17, 20-23? Also mark 7:19

    • @HopeCottage_Sarah
      @HopeCottage_Sarah 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sure, so the Colossians verses are referencing two kinds of law: God's law and man's law. God gave us a law to follow, yet those with a Pharisaical heart will try to add to it with extras. That is what v. 20-23 are addressing and the Mark 7:19 verse also references this. The Pharisees were teaching that one must wash their hands before they eat and they were saying it was God's law that they do so. Yeshua got on them in Mark 7 saying that they were adding to the law with their own extras and that was not ok. The law God gave is easy to follow... Pharisees were and do add extra to make it harder. This is why Yeshua said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. His law isn't hard if we just do what He said... it's when we put on extras that it becomes too much. Regarding your question about Mark 7:19 specifically, we need to understand what God calls food. Anything that is unclean is not food. In our 21st century westerner mindset, we think of all meat as potential food so we say "unclean food" but they would say "unclean MEAT" or "unclean animals". The difference is in what God calls food. When Yeshua called all FOOD clean in this verse, He was referencing what they would know as food, but the entire story here is really about eating with unwashed hands. (Basically, He's saying you can eat anything that is food with washed or unwashed hands --- requiring people to wash first would have put a heavy burden on those who lived on the streets or were working in the fields, etc. Not a lot of "ceremonial washstands" out there! haha!) Back to Colossians, the verses in 2:16-17 refer to the Biblical holidays the people were newly observing instead of their old pagan ones. Remember, he's talking to the new church at Colosse --- a place full of pagan Roman gods and goddess worship, temples all over the place, statuettes of idols in every home... These new believers were setting aside all of that to follow in the ways of the "lowly Jews". It didn't go over well with their neighbors!

  • @All_Things_Made_New
    @All_Things_Made_New 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

    So how do we explain Matthew 22:36-40?

    • @HopeCottage_Sarah
      @HopeCottage_Sarah 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well Yeshua is not saying that's the ONLY commandment... just that it's the greatest. He goes on to say that the law and the prophets hang on this truth: love God and love one another. Basically, every command God has ever given all comes back to loving either Him or each other (or both). This is why the law means nothing if we don't love each other. Doing the law for the law's sake is not enough --- we must only do it because we love our God, we love His Son, and we want to obey. Love first, law later. 🥰

    Been going through this conviction for two years I believe I should… However I have a Question even though it may not be a command from God but an encouragement from Paul then why is it that the women of the Old Testament were covered if God didn’t Command this ? because most churches follow what Paul teaches as commands so if we are to take what Paul Said about head covering as not a command then shouldn’t we view the rest of his writings in the same way ?

    • @HopeCottage_Sarah
      @HopeCottage_Sarah 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! Yes, I believe Paul's encouragement to women to cover comes from the cultural practice of Jewish women to cover their heads. Again, never a command of God as far as we know --- but women were culturally doing this and Paul wanted to continue that within his churches. Regarding the way we should view Paul's writings --- yes, we should examine each of them and test them against what we know came straight from God's mouth. We can find God's instructions to us in the first five books of the Bible, but mainly starting about Exodus 12 through the end of Deuteronomy. If something Paul says (like women being silent in churches, or not teaching, or wearing coverings) can not be found in God's instructions, we know Paul is teaching something that is his own conviction. When we see that his teachings can be found in God's instructions, we know he is reiterating commands straight from God. Another reason why it is so great to be able to have all these instructions and teachings in one book --- we can reference the back to the front and vice versa. Hope this helps, friend!

    • @All_Things_Made_New
      @All_Things_Made_New 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ oThankYou so much for explaining this to me as I have questioned paul from time to time but felt I was doubting God.Seems the church puts pails teachings above Gods teachings so thank you

    • @HopeCottage_Sarah
      @HopeCottage_Sarah 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@All_Things_Made_New Unfortunately I do think that is the case. I've never seen Paul to be a false teacher. Everything he teaches seems to be either straight from God's words or things that are his own convictions. As long as we see Paul as a brother, a fellow human, we can reconcile his teachings with God's word. It's just like here on my channel --- I have things I prefer and so I encourage people to do them (homeschool if you can, avoid junk food, whatever...) but I will never say those are God's laws because they're not. Just good practices for some people... and, maybe not for others!

    I've had to learn it's not about being perfect. Life happens and I don't always have the best options available. But I can still make good choices I can eat the best thing that's there and I can eat a smaller portion to hold me over until I have time to get something healthier.

  • @elizabethpeterson8597
    @elizabethpeterson8597 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What a WORD sister, I felt like you were speaking directly to me. I don't know that I've EVER experienced the kind of joy that you describe, I've dealt with what I figured out after reading Dr. Henry Wright's books "A More Excellent Way" and "The Spiritual Roots of Disease" is an actual Spirit of Fear" which is a demonic entity, as well as just fear in general going back to childhood adverse experiences, trauma, and CPTSD. I AM working on it though, and your words here are an encouragement. On a more practical note, regarding the food choices, even though it's just me and I work from home and no commute and generally don't have to worry much even about spending time "putting on my face" or what clothing I wear when I am working, and I have no children or grandchildren or husband to cook and clean for and all the rest, and I am a homebody and generally only get out as little as possible, I STILL struggle sometimes with meal planning. It can be done through and I have no doubt that you will. I'm closer to Carnivore now and I pretty much eat the same things on repeat. I typically eat twice per day so 14 meals per week. Of those, probably 7 meals are eggs, 4 are beef (almost always ground beef), 3 are fish (salmon) and one is poultry. When doing Keto I would pick a protein and it would fill half my plate (6 to 8 ounces) and then the other half of my plate would consist of 2 non-starchy veggies, usually one would be a green salad and the other green beans because they are low in carbohydrates. And that's it, no starches like potatoes, pasta, corn, or rice, and no grains and no sugar, AND NO CAKE, LOL. I do still make keto and even carnivore "desserts" using Allulose, Stevia, or Monk Fruit. And I still have 2 servings of strawberries every day in this delicious strawberry lemonade I make with strawberries, citrus LMNT, and sparking water. So, you CAN do it, but it just takes a little planning. I don't eat out but if I did, I would just order ala cart focusing on protein and low-carb vegetables and skip the bread, pasta, etc. I used to watch Nicole Burgess on TH-cam, haven't watched in a long time but one of the things she excelled in was meal planning, batch/bulk cooking Keto-style, and time-management, staying on track despite a very busy schedule. P.S. make the cake (there are lots of Keto versions on TH-cam, I really like the recipes from a channel called "All Day I Dream About Food" but there's tons of channels that are good, another one is Mariah Emmerich, she is a flipping genius with Keto and Carnivore recipes.

    why do you think God didn't give adam and eve laws?

    • @HopeCottage_Sarah
      @HopeCottage_Sarah หลายเดือนก่อน

      I actually do think God gave Adam and Eve laws. We see this in the story of Cain and Abel, for example. Cain did not bring a sacrifice that pleased the Lord. Why? Because he did not bring the appropriate sacrifice --- the one God prescribed. He didn't care enough to do it right. In Genesis 4:7 God tells him that if he would do it right, he'd be accepted. If he does it wrong, he won't. This shows us Cain was aware of the right way to bring the sacrifice -- he was aware of God's laws about it. We see stuff like this in a few places in Scripture before we get to Sinai. The story of Noah is another place. He was to bring two of every animal but SEVEN of every clean animal. This shows us Noah was aware of the difference between clean and unclean animals. I don't think Sinai was the first time the people heard God's law. I think a lot of it was stuff they'd already been told in the past but had lost knowledge of while they were in captivity in Egypt. 😊

      Hello! Sure, the reason is actually because He was keeping two of God's commandments found in Numbers 5 and Deuteronomy 24. You've heard that Jesus "drank the cup of God's wrath"--- this comes from the instructions God gave concerning unfaithful wives in Numbers 5:11-31. If a woman was accused of being unfaithful to her husband, she was required to stand before the priest and he would remove her head covering and require her to drink a bitter mixture of dirt, some kind of ink (see verse 23), and water. Verse 18 calls it the, "bitter water that brings a curse". If she was guilty, her belly would swell and her thigh would rot and she would become a curse among her people. We see several details that point to Jesus' death here --- drinking "the cup", the swelling and loss of function of body parts that would parallel what His body went through on the cross, the removal of the covering of protection (head covering here, Jesus' cry to God about forsaking Him just before His death) and just the entire idea of an adulterous bride being separated from her husband. When we say He drank the cup that was ours, or He took our sin upon us, this is what that is referring to. He stood in the place of the adulterous bride --- which was actually the punishment and curse we deserved as sinners who had turned away from Him. Deuteronomy 24:1-4 is the law concerning divorce. If a married couple divorces, and the woman marries another man but later divorces him or he dies, she can not come back and marry that first husband. (I'm not sure if this goes the same for men--- Scripture isn't clear here.) Before we accept Jesus' gift of salvation, we are that adulterous woman from Numbers 5. We are living in a state of being divorced from our first love. According to this passage, we are not allowed to come back into covenant with that husband, nor are either of us, neither us nor the groom (Jesus), allowed to remarry anyone until one spouse has died (Paul talks about that in Romans 7:1-4 and 1 Corinthians 7:39). So even though, in our sin, we were the ones deserving of death, Jesus drank the cup and died the death so we could be reunited. However, according to this passage in Deuteronomy, we aren't supposed to marry our old bridegroom. Therefore, we wouldn't be allowed to "remarry" Jesus (enter into a new covenant with Him). This is where miracles come in. The problem regarding the dead bridegroom that was impossible to remarry even if it was allowed is solved with the miraculous resurrection of Jesus --- now He is alive and can enter into a new covenant with… someone? The second problem regarding the fact that He can't remarry His old bride is solved with us being resurrected into new bodies --- being born again, a new creation in Him. Now we have a new bride marrying an eternal bridegroom in a future new covenant at the marriage supper of the Lamb! (See Revelation 19) For verses about our new, incorruptible bodies, see 1 Corin. 15:35-58; 2 Corin. 5:1-6; Rev. 20:4) Many say we are in a "new covenant" with Jesus and that's why we don't need the law anymore. But, we are not actually in that covenant yet. We are "engaged" to be married, but that marriage supper of Revelation 19 has not yet happened and can't happen until the bride of Christ has been resurrected together into new bodies as a pure and spotless bride who is no longer under that curse of Numbers 5. Others say He had to die to model the Passover lamb. However, Passover is not a sin sacrifice. Sacrifices can only be done by a priest, but anyone and everyone can kill a lamb for Passover as instructed in Exodus 12 and Leviticus 23. We call Him the spotless lamb as an allusion to the Passover lamb, but He's not actually modeling Passover in His death. He's modeling these two portions from God's law, showing us that He walked out God's commandments even in His method of death. Hope this helps! Have a happy day!

    Jesus brought to completion all the laws of Moses. Everyone, not just Israelites, can have eternal life. God himself came to earth to save his creation. A relationship with God, the love he has for me, his forgiveness for not living the perfect life brings me down to my knees. I am a sinner, saved by grace, only given by his gift of sacrifice. I have been abused in the Torah movement. I have been forced to read scripture and scolded if I don't agree on a daily basis. There is no freedom to think and no consiststency in which laws to follow and how and when the feasts and sanbaths are. There's so much division and corruption and manipulation, a twisting of scriptures to fit. There is no openness and do much condemnation. There is no freedom to worship Jesus Christ, he has been dethroned, only bondage to the shadows. Heaven and Earth passed away when Christ, the temple (heaven and earth to Jews) died on the cross. We are in a new covenant. My sins are washed away, he has made me clean. Everything Jesus touched became clean, was restored, he works on the Sabbath, he is Lord of it. Love, the greatest commandment, the fruit of the spirit, spreading the good news of what Christ has done, that is how we follow him.

      Torah PEOPLE are just that --- human, sinful, people; and just like in any other faith group or denomination, they can corrupt truth and give people a bad taste about following God. It seems like your bad experiences in this movement have not diminished your faith in God or Yeshua --- I'm so thankful for that and I'm so sorry you had such a rotten experience with people who should have been sharing truth. While I don't agree that Yeshua brought the law to completion or that we are no longer to follow it, I do agree that the heart relationship with Yeshua is the only way we are saved and is the most important thing to focus on. We are saved by the sacrifice of our Savior --- we just walk out the law because this is how we show we love Him. Blessings, Sister. I hope you are having a nice weekend!

    I live in WA state and all the whole bible believing churches I find are still very much into Christmas and Easter. Its been challenging navigating switching over from man's holidays to God's Holy days. Especially when Christmas is such a special place in my young adult children's hearts. We too did Advent in an effort to not put the focus on the tree & gifts but on Jesus/Yeshua I too was wondering how to reinvent Advent during the fall feasts because scholars believe Yeshua was born in the fall. Extended family and friends do not get why we have made this decision. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions Id really appreciate it. Happy Yom Teruah 🎉

      The first year I did the Advent thing, I just took out anything that wasn't actually Biblical. The next year I had a little more understanding and so I taught them about the Fall feasts instead and we did the candle lighting to go along with that. I don't have a resource to recommend as I made everything up but maybe I will publish what I wrote one of these days and make it available to everyone. Happy Yom Teruah!
