I lost my fiancé to an overdose not long before Chester died. I understand some of what you are going through. He was sexually abused as a child for many years and I witnessed first hand his deep hurt and pain. He also struggled with alcohol as a way of coping. I on the other hand have struggled with depression most of my life and have endured a lot of trauma and abuse in my life. It makes me very sad when I hear Chester’s story, but unfortunately I understand it all to well. I still struggle with depression and just getting through the day is so hard sometimes. I wish I would have known Chester, he sounds like an amazing person. I will say though from personal experience, after only two months after Chris died, Chester was very much still in a great deal of pain. My therapist told me it takes 3 to 5 years to process the grief from a loved one. I am not placing blame on anyone but with his past history of depression and suicide attempts he was at very high risk and Chris’ death was most likely the tipping point for Chester. Unfortunately people like Chester become very good at hiding the pain. It makes perfect sense to me that he would have taken his life on Chris Cornell’s birthday. The pain of losing his best friend was just too much to bear. I’m very sorry for your loss Talinda and I hope you and your family are doing well. RIP Chester. Love you and miss you man.

I honestly think the one important aspect of all suffering depression: is all the people in their families and in their circle of friends is that nobody understands how it is and many times day and do things that can make a depressed person spiral in their negative thoughts. Please never ever dismiss a depressed person! Waking up and trying to function takes every bit of strength and energy we have. Please show compassion, empathy, understanding, love and make us feel loved and as if we belong. Depression is horrible. Everyday death crosses our minds ( usually multiple times in a day) Please understand how fragile depressed people are no matter how big we smile, how loud we laugh and how hard we try to act normal like all is fine. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰 to all those who are in the struggle & battles with depression. Chester explained depression, better than anyone has ever explained it. You really don’t know what depression is or what it feels like until you KNOW what it is and KNOW what it feels like. I’ve battled now for 7 yrs, everything Chester said is spot on. It’s horrible, it’s even worse when nobody in your family or friends circle understands it. Some of the things they say or do,makes the inner thoughts much worse. She said she didn't believe he committed suicide in another video, but in this one she wants to say he wasn't the face of depression and cries at the end, gives me the vibe that someone told her to stop talking, but she knows.
