I look at vintage, retro and collectible electronics in Thrift stores, garage sales, bins, garbage and online, older the better for me, but mostly wanting 70’s 80’s items, I do buy also and sell but must be at a bargain price

Is it Crazy to want a Retro Lava Lamp
มุมมอง 146วันที่ผ่านมา
I have been looking for a 70s style lava lamp for quite awhile now and gave up buying an original and instead bought this retro 70s looking lamp with the red bubbles just like the one we had back when I was a teenager in the 70s it was cheaper to buy a newer lamp than risk buying an older one that may not work Music: Words Musician: music by audionautix.com License: creativecommons.org/licens...

Vintage Sanyo Clock Radio Cassette will it work ?
Why do none of these VHS tapes have the normal plastic case?
Not sure, great question
You would’ve had a bargain with buying all three of the separate tapes. Cuz those are the unaltered versions
Some one else told me that to, I feel a bit miffed now lol 😂
I not only have one of those, but I own 2! One I bought new back in the day, and the other sometime later in our local Salvation Army. I also have the Namco Ms. Pac-Man, which also has Mappy, Pole Position, Xevious, and Galaga. Both games sit on a shelf right below my Toshiba, which looks the same as yours-Mine is a 14 inch. I can't tell the size of yours in the video.
That sounds so cool, my Tosh is 21”
Is that goodmans jamos ( speakers ) With the tweeter fins ? I have a scar on my finger from whacking one of those fins .
A speaker cut ✂️ lol 😂 sore as !!
Nice!!!! Have fun! Galaxian is my favorite
That game is hard
Always a great feeling after fixing something. Cheers
100% and thanks for watching 👀
the issue with these 3 value village stores is the pricing of the merchandise the pickering outlet is by far the cheapest
Your probably right, depending what’s in and I guess who is the price giver that day :)
I avoid integrated stereo systems. I never liked them when they were popular. If one component stopped working there was no work around because there were no aux input. Only option was to repair or replace the whole unit.
If cheap enough, 5-10$ they worth it for garage or shed
@Thriftronics absolutely. Not for the living room
Nice find! I had this exact plug-n-play game as a kid. I still have it, but unfortunately it suffers from flakey visuals, no sound and corroded battery contacts. There was also a "sequel" model that had Ms. Pac Man and a unique version of Pole Position where you twist the joystick to steer. These old Jakks Pacific plug-n-plays were the best!
Some one just commented about the Mrs pac man lol and yeh the pic is not great even on my crt
Nice i have pac man for my 2600 atari but tha arcade is a neet little find
Yeh great size for display and retro memories
@Thriftronics yeh it's a bit bigger than I expected but it gives it character
In my younger days, I burned thru an Atari 2600 and a 5200. Just resdiscovered this same Namco device (AND another one with Ms. Pacman) buried in the bedroom closet! Lots of fun...for maybe 20 minutes. Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
lol 😜 I do like the pac man, I have actually played a few times now, can’t get past level 3 ugh 😩 I think it is a bit hard and no saving the level like u can now
that stereo is cool looking i could see maybe $40 with the speakers. i would say it's from the mid 80's
Thanks yeh so many cool stereos too many to keep
I picked up a good-sized karaoke machine by GPX. I've gotten other ones before, but this ones by far my favorite.
@@christronicsdereksrandomness36 I just watched that video, what an awesome price that was
@Thriftronics ya idk what they go by for pricing, but most of the time its very reasonable.
Not bad If I had a choice I would say star wars because that stereo wasn't nothing to rare dual tape vinyl combos are kinda common ish star wars is to but it's better because it's the first 1 I found a star wars episode 1 of 2 in a basement I didn't take it but I have access to get it as my own It's just the take up reels are yellowed out witch is not common on vhs for me at least so it was worn out
Yeh I played it since and it’s definitely a keeper for me too many memories
@@Thriftronicswell I hope you enjoy it that's all that matters if anything
They ( and "Savers" in the US) price many things fairly (tapes for example), and other things WAY too high (stereo for example). But then i got lucky for $9.99 i got a mint JVC cassette deck, so you never know. It's frustrating when they are so far off though! And separating the speakers was stupid.
It all depends who is pricing that say I guess, I see games at 3 different prices, so random
We had one of those Hi-Fi stack systems back in the mid 1980s, ours was made by Amstrad and having a graphic equaliser was the ultimate in Hi-Fi coolness!!.
We had a Amstrad, did you ever see Techmoan talk about that make ? Total rubbish !! But I have to say I didn’t know better and loved it
@@Thriftronics have a look at the history of Alan Sugar and how he started the Amstrad brand and company, it's quite interesting!!.
Also looking back now when you pulled that first Star Wars VHS right next to it to the left was empire strikes back and return of the jedi. All three of those would have been great to get as they are not modified in any way
Wow I didn’t know, darn !!! lol 😂 thanks for the advice tho
I think the special edition with all three has some changes on it. That first copy of Star Wars you picked up though is great and doesn't have any changes on it and it's still just called Star Wars and not a new Hope.
a 45 RPM adapter is the most common name used. I would grab the Star Wars tapes. Totally original "prints"; no add-ons of modifications done after the original release.
I did grab the Star Wars
we had a canon one like that i think it was from 1989 my dad bought it used & it only lasted a few years one day we went to use it and the picture was bad when you played a tape my dad thought i broke it but now i think the capacitors went bad in it they were known for that but we didn't know it then. so it's probably better that you didn't buy it unless it was really cheap & you had a tape to test it
Maybe dirty recording heads ? Great story thanks
@@Thriftronics yeah it could have been if we had only known this was around 1997 so i guess there wasn't as much info as there is now.
I wouldn't buy it, but that's because I have already have a Panasonic flip clock radio, which functions perfectly!
☺️☺️☺️ that’s what I wish for
Oh God, I had to use those iron monsters back in college (pre-computers). Good riddance. I wouldn't give a cent for one.
Ha ha I wondered if anyone who actually used these would see this video
What a beautiful camcorder it's in ok shape but it looks amazing
Gimme 🫵
lol 😂 👍
I hope i find a camcorder at my local frift store 😈
Maybe one day, these are all over the place here
I had to think, this g e clock radio might have been a Christmas present at one time.
Nice find. I found reading reviews about a piece of equipment I'm considering for purchase helpful. A 4 out of 5 stars turntable is more desirable than a 2 out of 5 star turntable in the same price range.
I enjoy reviews and watch a tonne of YT I’m a YT addict TBH I get the wanna buy everything feeling ha ha, but then I realise I just can’t ☺️
still a philips :(
Mine is still working perfect after almost 20 years
@@Thriftronics i repaired them, yep they work but sound quality is awful
@ thanks I didn’t know that, our one at home runs radio daily
GROOVY BABY, Needs Battery, Should Cleanup NICE.
It did clean up nice thanks, ☺️ one of my favourites now
I have one in use, just a tad older.
I bought a Tandy/Radio Shack one very similar to this with the good ol' red LED display back in 1986. It is still next to my bed !!! I had to replace some of the larger electro caps in it as the sleep and snooze functions stop working. With the new caps, all OK.
I moved away from U.K. and left everything I owned there when we emigrated Canada. Now we are living a semi retired life I want those things back now, I’ve found most things but would be nice to have kept something for that long
I have a GE under-the-cabinet radio and that has a backward time-set function as well..The display is the classic blue vacuum florescent on mine.
Nice 👌 love these displays ehh
Cool unit! I never see neat things like that around here
@@IDPhotoMan yeh it definitely is a talking point
I have a green one that was from my grandfather Mine is a "Tectronic"
Don’t believe I seen a tectronic item yet in Canada 🇨🇦
Did you end up buying the cd player? If it works it's a decent price and good for someone looking for any entry level unit.
I did not, I already have one, I did notice that it was gone the next day, hopefully went to a good home 🏠
@Thriftronics oh okay. I thought you were a reseller looking for items to sell.
@ I do resell items, but it’s not my income source, I am more an enthusiastic collector with a taste for 80’s things 😝 i find it interesting to see what stuff is worth and if its a popular flip item, i may put that on my local marketplace. I have a bad habit of keeping most things I find tho 🥹
I have that same radio
Nice, the old ones are the best
This was a trip down memory lane. This clock radio (same model) sat beside by bed for I don't remember how many years... decades likely. Probably still have it sitting in a box somewhere. Also noticed from that traffic report we live in the same general area.
@@SteveBrecht hey cool Steve yeh I am east side GTA, and I prefer these older clocks rather than picking up my iPhone to see time, I sleep better just being able to glance at the time that’s glowing on the dresser ☺️👍
@@Thriftronics I'm in Whitby so we're very close. I had to go look after watching this video... found mine in the top of the closet. Plugged it in and it still works too. Agreed, there was something nice about seeing that red / green / blue glow in the middle of the night. Might have some other vintage electronics around here too you might be interested in. I looked through your videos, the Sears TV that didn't work at the Thrift store, had that one too. :)
@ nice one Steve, awesome you give the clock a second life pal
I had one in the middle to late 80s, just like the one by the lava lamp. It had a blue florescent digital display.
Blue is cool 😎
Luv your shirt😊
Thanks Tom, it’s from the thrift store in my town but I don’t do clothing videos lol they bore me :) I just like stuff
hi the best 8 track player is the akai 1800ss quad track recorder reel to reel because it so easy to fix yes you are right in the up zoom it would be gone lady next door to mum left gear out side for the same kind of pick up like you said it was gone i had it top time cd player and a good dj mixer i used to have a channel on here i stopped because i was getting alot of mail to take gear of there hands i deal in betacam sp and pro audio gear trans from out tape for mats i under cut all the over them all
Cheers Bob great comment thanks, ☺️
I guarantee it won't take much to get that other one working these things are built like tanks and there's not much to go wrong.
Also picked up a quad player and recorder Panasonic
I have 25 players along with recorders and car stereos.
Wow awesome
Great finds. Love 8 Tracks.
Thanks Brian
Nice!! Fun stuff
Thanks
Nice finds that sucks that the one is dead but both of them are pro looking units I love the vu meters I'm after a 8 track recorder almost like that one just wider so it will fit on my stack set of stereos and your not a idiot everyone makes mistakes I remember when I got my first walkman asking my dad ok so tell me again what to do lol now I'm a near pro but even I make mistakes
I am a mechanic by trade electronics and hifi stuff is hobby so I’m a hobby grade repair guy ha ha
longer video's would be great.. like 30 minutes or so...
I think 15-20 mins is a good length, I’m going to try do longer ones on Saturdays and keep Monday Wednesday Friday as is 😂 thanks for the feedback back
Well done on those finds!!, i love 1970's technology especially the fake wood look!! 😂😉
Thanks yeh I’m oddly attracted to those items lol 😂
8 tracks are fun! I used to like 8 tracks way more but I no longer have time to refurbish the tapes. I have hundreds of them but they all need new sponge pads and foil tape. I mainly focus on cassettes and LPs and oftentimes I find them a lot easier to get going. If you don’t mind the process of opening the case and putting in new pads and foil then they’re a wonderful format. I have a Pioneer HR99 8 track player I thrifted (paid a bit more for it lol) but I gave it to my parents who enjoy fixing the tapes. That was a deal for 9.99 and only a dollar for the other one plus some tapes is unreal!
Yeh I dropped nice on the second one, didn’t expect it to actually work !! And thanks for the comment ☺️👍
