If you watch Huggy's death at the end of Chapter 1 as he's falling down the shaft, you can see blood on each of the pipes he falls against. The lore that we know of so far, based on the posters on the walls of the factory, the documents, the tapes throughout the game and Mob released online throughout the year (I recommend watching them), and Project Playtime, those toys like Huggy and Mommy...used to be people. Children in fact. Orphans transformed into toys through the Bigger Bodies Initiative. Playcare is an onsite orphanage masqueraded as a safe place for orphaned children when in reality, it was actually a way for the company to have easy access to perform experiments on them. Watch the Chapter 3 trailers (there's two) and give Project Playtime a try. There's a lot happening. And Chapter 3 promises to be even scarier.
