Hi there friends! We are Scott & Rhonda.
We just purchased a fixer upper, built in the 1900’s on 14 acres that we are turning into our forever homestead.
Follow along with us as we do some renovations, DIY, Gardening (flowers & vegetables)
Preserving food including: canning, pickling, and fermenting. Baking from scratch & recipes
We have Chickens, Ducks, Geese and we just added bees. We also have 2 Brittanys dogs FINN & WILLOW.

I love all your plants in your gardens. You are lucky you don't have my squirrels. Those pesky little creatures think the little flower signs are toys for them and they constantly take off with them. I've even tried burying them 3/4 down into the soil. They dig them up and run off with them.....darn squirrels!! 🐿🐿🐿🐿😕
@@lindas6294 I do have squirrels, not quite that bad though. I can’t have any kind of decor that has grape vine on it or any kind of string or ribbons because they have a hay day with that kind of stuff.

I love antique shopping, but I'm trying to downsize, so I can't buy anything else. My mama always used to tell me when she got older and was downsizing...."If I can't eat it, I'm not bringing it home"!! I am just now understanding why she said that!!

Rhonda, this is what I can tell you about Mums. They are a "tender perennial". IF they are planted in a protected spot so they can withstand the winter months....such as, along side a house or garage where they have some protection from harsh winters, and if you purchase a "hardy mum" , ( also called garden mum),then they will probably come back. I belonged to the National Chrysanthemum Society for many years. I've had pretty good luck with my mums returning, but it's all about where you plant them. I would order "hardy mums" from a company online and they were delivered as tiny plants.(rooted cuttings). I would plant them, and get to watch them grow. Way more cheaper that way (they were only a few dollars per seedling), and so many choices of colors. I think you are planting "florist mums, and they are strictly an annual plant, they will not return, so you're not killing them, they're like any other annual plant. I love mums, they're another good part of the fall season!!

I am planting and then cleaning up leaves but I am building a fence in area to cover my trailer but of course need a bed around it

So far no deer, up in the front, knock on wood. I do get them in the back yard by the apple trees so I moved those 😊
