The cats have been there for hundreds of years. Just like the invasion of North America they want to come in and eradicate the inhabitants of the land. The cats have never been a problem or a health risk. The park service and America doesn't want to be responsible for the care and welfare of the cats but that is only and excuse. The real problem is wealthy investors want the preservation of the history to disappear, starting with the cats, then the historic Spaniards building, the the city and homes. The wealthy investors will come in and takeover the land to build their money making condos, hotels and homes. They are using the park service as a front to do their dirty work. This is happening around the world. Look at Hawaii, Brazil, and it will keep happening until someone can stop it. This scheme is similar to money laundering only through the Park Service. The cats have been there since 1898 and the FDA has regulated animals 1906 and the national park service organic act was established to protect the native animal life as one of its goals. These cats are "NOT" pets but native animal spices. Removing these cats is a Violation of the National Park Service Organic Act. But Puerto Rico may want to paint their roofs blue before the Laser hits😮.

Horrible government! Leave the kitty's alone. They're not bothering anyone.

I understand the need to watch out for the well being of these animals however, this video is full of a lot of untruths. As a Puerto Rican from San Juan, who has spent a lot of time in the old city this is not sustainable... Not advocating for the full removal, but the populations of feral cats are out of control. Areas reek of foul odors particularly bc they are not spayed or neutered. There's shit along several blocks related to them and then you have the putting out of food containers which at times just sit out with flies once the cats are done eating because no one comes to pic up the disposable containers. I go in mostly for work an leisure, but I have friends which are residents who chase them away from their trash cans during the day. Its a serious problem to many. Yes, we need compassion but also some seriousness here. The alternative cannot be do nothing which basically this video is espousing.

This is a disgusting, inhumane, horrifying plan that the human citizens do not want. Although these cats are not individually owned, they are "owned" by the locals and tourists. They harm no one and bring joy to many. Government interference is not wanted or needed here. They have established their own community and are harming no one. This is another stupid idea by someone in government who doesn't seem to have enough important things to think about.

Why is it that agencies feel it is necessary to eradicate something that is not a detriment to a community? These animals are obviously well cared for, loved and have been an asset to the community for hundreds of years…try removing something that is dangerous and harmful…leave these animals alone!!

Hi I'm a animal lover. I love cats very much. If I was rich I would go save and trap all these precious loving animal beings . . And build a huge shelter enclosed with grass and natural environment for the rest of there lives. I'm in tears and heartbroken for them. Please I beg you don't kill them. Let them live there rightfull lives. I beg you from my heart and soul 😂😢.😢

Very true, @nancypatty. The money and ither resources they will be spending on getting rid of the cats could be helping to rebuild the infrastructure or help in other ways.

I think it's interesting that the federal government hasn't paid any attention to Puerto Rico with all the storms that they've had and all of a sudden they want to kill all the cats on the island. Leave the cast alone and address issues that are more important play getting Puerto Rico back on its feet again
