Rad Power Bike Lawsuit...Who's at Fault?
Came upon this article about someone getting badly hurt on their Rad E-Bike. Looking closer into the law suit and the person that was injured and brought on the suit. It seems to me that something does not seem right. The man that was injured is a Lawyer that specializes in these types of lawsuits, and may have had previous knowledge on the problem that caused his accident. Tell me what you think.

Things to Think About, For Older E-Biikers
มุมมอง 15K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
E-Bike safety should be everyone's priority, but for those of us over 55, I believe there is a lot more to consider before buying a E-Bike. When we get older our cognitive abilities do diminish as we age. For some of us sooner than later, but for others, they may age gracefully. I just ask that everyone really thinks about how active they are, know your abilities, and what level of E-Biking are...

    Thanks for a great, comprehensive video; sure to help people avoid many common problems. I’m 78, raced motorcycles when younger and have been on ebikes for the past 8 years, mostly riding in the California suburbs. I have two things to add to the conversation: #1: Don’t buy an ebike unless you are disabled and/or want get some exercise, otherwise get a real motorcycle. #2: Remember that motorists often assume we’re going slower than we actually are. Avoid drivers’ blind spots and assume nobody sees you (even when they just looked right at you!). Final thought: an ebike that is a strong hill-climber and quickly accelerates to 20 mph is safer and more fun than one that’s geared to get up to 28+.

    It's a sad story about the Ebike person getting injured or killed. but banning ebike in the county or area is super stupid.... If possible they should check the videos or investigate what actually happened, unless they reckon it was a sign issue or perhaps road markings causing the incident to have happened. Then they have to stop all riders and fix the issue. Apart from that above scenario being the case, if it was a personal accident or rider negligence or perhaps just mistake that happened. That is something that can happen at any given point and could happen to normal cyclists or even skaters or Electric Scooters for that fact. You don't see people banning vehicles or Motorcycles when a drunk driver causes an accident or someone sober even causing a accident if he/she was speeding or got distracted.

  • @EugeneHuman-kl1vc
    @EugeneHuman-kl1vc หลายเดือนก่อน

    I agree, think younger mountain bikers should stick with normal bikes till about 16 or so. These ebikes aint cheap and speedsters and thrill seekers... this hobby is bit pricey to mess around and crashing it. I do think the Ebike law needs to loosen up a bit for classes/ size motors. People are different sizes and ebikes themself are heavy. So to drive a 72lbs (32kg ebike) like driving a normal bike is not going to happen. Including your own weight which say is 80K to 150kg. It could be about up to 180kg on the ebike. The 250w motor or 500w motor is not going to cut it. That's why i figure the weight and size of rider plays a big role and the laws must be lenient in that manor. Limiting speed or limiting motor size is not a help at all, not for safety of driver at all. I understand why they think it will be safer, in the case of having a person of 60-70kg on a 1000w ebike going maybe 35miles per hour in open trails and ramps.. That is a bit overkill. But someone like me, over 40. I'm a heavier rider. Going uphill riding a 72lb(32kg) ebike is no joke. Doing that on a 250w or 500w motor will be a struggle, unless i put it in pedal assist 4 or 5. Doing it on my own power alone will be a almost impossible.

    My wife and I are 63 years old, and we just purchased our first ebikes. We went with the Fabulous Furious Road Warrior Ult. It's a fat-tire, large frame bike that weighs in I believe just over 100 lbs. The size and weight are of little concern to us as we both rode various motorcycles over the years, Honda's, Harley's, Yamaha's...lighter bikes to heavier ones, we've got some good milage and experience under our belts, that's for sure. Riding ebikes isn't going to be any sort of challenge for us as far as handling them goes and riding them full throttle. Our challenge will come with pedaling them and trying to not use a lot of assist in order to get some decent exercise at least for a good 30 minutes of the ride, after that, we can boost the assist and get on the throttle a bit more and just have some fun riding together again.

    When you're coming up from behind a pedestrian on a trail, use your bell. I see you have on your bike. I do a lot of walking on trails and I'm always appreciative when a biker makes sure to let me know that he's (or she's) coming up fast on my six. If you don't have a bell or other sound device, then just call out to let them know. It's basic trail courtesy. Btw, I recognize the terrain. I'm a town over from you. Happy riding.

    I like the relaxing rhythmic tune you chose! IMO, Anyone not checking their own {enter any possibly dangerous equipment} before riding, at least occasionally, then they deserve whatever befalls them. Now if it was a broken weld or something then the company is at fault. Just because a company makes something doesnt mean they are liable for our ignorance or carelessness. Again IMO our nation and the west as a whole have already taken massive damage due to frivolous suits that dont get quashed instantly and many are paid out just to keep the media quiet which shouldn't be, but definitely is a huge part of the art of bringing suit. Whenever you ask yourself 'why is this soooo expensive' Liability is a massive part of it!!!

    Who last assembled the bike? Very unlikely it was the manufacturer. If he'd just picked it up from a bike shop that assembled it for him that day, then he might have a case against the shop, but most likely he's had the bike a while and hasn't been maintaining it. We don't know what caused the unplanned disassembly, but it sounds very much like the quick release was too loose. Also very suspicious that he just happens to be a professional ambulance chaser.

    The more we advance technically - the more we have to expensively retrofit our transportation infrastructures to accept common sense. Wide bike lanes and universal charging E-bik stations should be everywhere and coast to coast.
