Dinghy Derby 2022 (red bull dinghy derby)
Our 2022 dinghy derby race footage in the our new super standard class boat. we had a few problems along the way with out trim battery housing breaking and the outboard motor bracket getting jammed but all things considering we brought it home mid pack 12th out of 22 in the tricky high water conditions.

A Walk around of our 2021 Dinghy derby race tinny. Our boat races in the 30HP standard class in the Riverland derby series. The boat is three season old so she is perfect but still goes hard. This video is to help anyone looking to get into the sport as when i got into info was hard to find unless you live in the Riverland. So any questions yell out!!

What is the battery for?
Battery powers the hydraulic trim pump, so when the holder broke we couldn't trim down

No fatalities the club does a good job making things as safe as possible

looks pretty fun except the part where they sink when you crash, i used to race zapcats here in the states in early 2000's didn't have to worry about an inflatable sinking lol
inflatables look pretty fun till you go over a sharp stick or rock and it fucking pops then sinks dumbass
@@bacoon6499 LOL they have about 8 different separate chambers on each side. the boat can still float even with one side totally deflated.

Want to do this so bad. What’s the best class to start in mate.
You have to start in the standard class and complete so many races before they allow you to move up.
next time put a bow rope to the front, it doesnt sacrifice anything and if you flip you can get a tow out of the water. Me and my mates go tinny bashing and hooning up river we always make sure that our boats have a bow rope just incase and it has saved our boats so many times
A little bit of added floatation wouldn't go astray either.

An eyelet moved and jammed the steering bracket.

I'm guessing they act as movable ballast, shifting weight forward when they need to turn, lowering speed and causing the bow to dig in more so they don't just slide into the bank, and then moving to the stern to reduce wetted surface when they are trying to maximize speed. They can certainly turn without, it would just be in a larger radius.

What happened at 3:40?
A bracket come loose and jammed the motor from turning. We were luck it happened in semi open waters and not in a corner.

We sold our first boat and the safe style boat is our new build 👍🏻

This is one of my new favorite sports! You all should open that place up to drone racers too. The helmet cam on your other video was great and remind me of that.

@@adamlewis6756 yes sir. so now that you look the enviroment and think carbon fiber and the slow speed of the boat. Do you think there will be shredded drones? Put loud beeper to the drone so you can find it. Put a empty plastic bottle under the drone so it won't sink. But thats just how I see.
The comment I replied to was about racing drones, which are significantly faster and quicker than these boats. People WILL crash their drones. Bottles on the bottom throws off balance and performance. And they will only keep the pieces still attached AFTER the crash afloat. There’s already floating drone shells of floating is your solution. Your attempt to educate me is misguided. Been flying drones for a long time, crashed a lot of them :)

My thoughts exactly! It sure would be nice to get one over here and then do some reverse engineering and build a few. The problem I see is getting the 2 stroke power plant. Just think what an old build 2 stroke Merc would do!

We have built a new boat this year for the super standard class, in which we can run a trim so stay tuned for a walk around video of the new boat
