I've tried to start crocheting so many times but it just doesn't click for me..😢 Now you've made me want to try again 😄
I'm so excited for you! Crochet has been a huge part of my life for over 20 years, and it’s truly my favorite thing to do. If there’s anything I can do to help make this journey easier for you, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m here to support you and can’t wait to see you succeed in this new adventure!
@missmo4541 I get so inspired by other people's creations but no matter how many tutorials I've seen I can't even make a ring 😅 honestly don't know why it just doesn't work for me
Have you tried the magic ring yet?
@@missmo4541 I think that's what I tried to make last time Do the tool/yarn make much of a difference? (I got a kit from Wish but no luck even starting it)
Oh no! I do have about 4 videos that I did the magic circle on three were projects, and one was just the magic circle by itself. Let me know if you need me to do another video where i'm going slower. Maybe I should use a lighter yarn or darker yarn, whatever you think that is going to help you.
The standing stitches are really cool. I’m always in for learning something new. Thanks for all the great tips.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the standing stitches and found the tips helpful. 😊 Learning something new is always exciting, and I’m thrilled to share these techniques with you. Happy crocheting, and thanks for your support! 🧶❤
Lots of good tips! Thank you. ❤ Nikki
You are very welcome! Happy crocheting Nikki! 😊🧶
Awesome tutorial and great joke! ❤
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Hi. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. When I do a chain, I find it looks better if I use a size larger hook. Do you recommend using a size larger for the foundation row?
Hi! Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your tip. Using a larger hook for the chain is a great idea, especially if it helps with tension and keeps the chain from being too tight. For foundation rows, it can depend on the project and personal preference. If you notice that your foundation row feels tighter than the rest of your stitches, going up a hook size can definitely help maintain consistency. Personally, I do not use a different size hook then my project. I have a tendancy to have a larger foundation row anyway. Experimenting with different hook sizes is a great way to find what works best for you and your projects. Happy crocheting! 🧶😊
Omg i think fsc is perfect to start to oval bag bottom part 😍😍😍 it was so hard for me to make oval bottom but now i cant wait to try it 🎉 thank you so much for sharing this video ❤🙏
Yay! I’m so excited that you found the foundation single crochet (fsc) technique helpful for your oval bag bottoms! 😍🎉 It really is a game-changer for projects like that. I can’t wait for you to give it a try-I'm sure it’ll turn out amazing. Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching! Happy crocheting! ❤🧶
❤❤ Very good video. It seems much less complicated than others I have seen.
Thank you so much! 😊 I'm so glad you found it helpful and easy to follow. Making crochet less intimidating is exactly what I aim for. 🧶 I hope you enjoy trying out the techniques! Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for future videos.
So, did you address the number of chains in the pattern? When a pattern calls for say, 52 chains, you normally do a stitch in the 2nd chain from hook..and then you lose a chain and end up with 51 stitches. How does this translate to the foundation chain? Would I then do a foundation chain of 51 or 52? (Assuming a single crochet FC) thanks for your help..this was a very helpful tutorial!
Thank you for your comment! That’s a great question, and I’m so glad you found the tutorial helpful! 🧶 When translating a pattern’s chain count to a foundation chain, it depends on how the pattern is written. For a single crochet foundation chain (sc FC), if the pattern calls for 52 chains and the first row has a stitch count of 51 (because you skip the first chain), you would create 51 stitches in your foundation chain. The foundation chain includes the stitch and the chain base, so you don’t need to add that skipped chain at the start. Essentially, the stitch count in the pattern’s first row will be the same as the number of stitches you work in the foundation chain. I hope this clears things up, and let me know if you have any other questions! 😊 Happy crocheting!
@ thank you so much..this makes it clear..and I’m not sure that’s understood in a lot of the tutorials I’ve watched or at least it’s not addressed…so thanks for clearing that up for me! God bless you!
It is my pleasure! Anytime you have a question, just let me know!!
I have a terrible time, making straight sides on rectangle and square crochet projects and not increasing and decreasing somehow as I go. I’ve watched so many videos on how to keep the sides straight and still haven’t been able to get it.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Crocheting straight sides can definitely be tricky-it’s something many of us have struggled with at some point. 🧶 The key often comes down to keeping track of your first and last stitches in each row, and stitch markers can really help with that. I’d be happy to create a video or include tips in a future tutorial specifically focused on keeping sides straight and avoiding accidental increases or decreases. Don’t get discouraged-you’re not alone in this, and with a little practice, it will start to click! Hang in there, and I’m here to help however I can. 😊
@ Thank you 👍😁
Hi! Loved this video. Thank you for showing this. I’m 62 and taught myself how to crochet 52 years ago. This video will help so much in the future. Maybe you could show with the stitch marker where to place the next stitch, then the next and so on. Also where to locate first sc (or first dc) and how to count them. I taught myself with a book (pre-videos) lol so old school. I’m visual so the books had pictures of each stitch. The “v’s” are a bit confusing that you are working in so the markers would help me keep up with where to put the next stitch. Your explanations were perfect. It’s me that needs the marker to follow. When you pulled it out I got lost. lol.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for sharing your crochet journey! Wow, 52 years of crocheting-that’s amazing! 🧶 I’m so glad the video was helpful and that my explanations resonated with you. I completely understand how stitch markers can make a big difference, especially when keeping track of those tricky 'v’s.' Your suggestion is fantastic, and I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future videos. I’ll make sure to show exactly where to place the next stitch, how to locate the first sc (or dc), and how to count them step by step. I really appreciate the feedback-it helps me create content that’s even more helpful! Thank you again for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts. Happy crocheting! 😊
Thank you very much I love it ❤
Thank you so much! I’m thrilled that you love it! ❤🧶
Love that you showed the 3 types of foundation rows. I am a lefty but your instruction was easy to follow, thanks I can't stand chain starts, so many start overs. This is fun.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found the instructions easy to follow and could adapt them as a lefty! 🧶 Foundation rows really do make starting a project so much more fun (and less frustrating) than chaining. Happy crocheting!
You read my mind. I was watching and thought I bet you can crochet down both sides which is how i make hot pads with 2 layers. I never like how the foundation stitches turn out.
❤️ Love it!! 2 things that I'm crazy about this foundation. 1 it's mesmerizing, and I can just sit and do this all day, and 2. You can use both sides!!
Rib it, Rib it, rip we call “Frogging”. You can frog it, and do it right, or reuse a garment, via Frogging”.
Hey, someone understood my comment!! Love it!!! I always cry when I ribbit, but then get over it when I repurpose to something even better!!!
Thank you 🧶 💜 just subscribed to your channel .
Thank you so much for subscribing! 🧶💜 I’m so glad to have you here!
Hello! I’ve seen this on a short reel on different internet sites, they go so fast , it was just frustrating to follow. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it step by step. I’ll practice it more now! ❤ grateful that I found you.🙏🏼😊
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means the world to me that my video could help you in a way that feels clear and approachable. I know how frustrating it can be to follow tutorials that move too quickly, so I’m truly grateful that you found my step-by-step approach helpful. I’m cheering you on as you practice and grow your skills! ❤ Your gratitude and support encourage me to keep sharing. Thank you for being here! 😊
Hi Mo, I'm new. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 10. I'd rather be outside climbing trees, wading in streams or riding horses at the time though. I learned for her well enough to make a descent scarf. I didn't really pick it up again until I was 19 and expecting our 1st child. I made him a twin size blanket with furry fabric squares in the middle and then went around with baby blue, gray and black. I made a border in black and had the presence of mind to save a bit of each yarn and a few patches just in case. He's 39 now, just turned in the spring and still has it. Before we moved 4 years ago I had to repair it as his pet rat drug it into his cage and chewed it fairly badly before he caught him and took it back. This was about 8 years ago. He reminded me that it needed repair so off to the crochet, knitted, button and dog toy surgery suite (my bedroom) lol. I'm so glad I saved the bits because it was just enough 😊. I taught myself to knit prior to the internet, the library and second hand stores were my haunts 😊. On my bucket list is a knitted sweater for someone sometime, not sure who or how yet. The heels of socks still intimidate me. Anyways, so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Have a Happy New Year 😊.
That’s such a cool story! I’m glad you’re enjoying my channel! Happy New Year to you too! With my roots are in Nebraska, I love being outdoors myself!! Something so peaceful and lovely about being outdoors.
This technique would also work well for starting a rectangle granny square project. Thanks!
I never thought of using it for a granny square. But yes, it would work for anything that you need to do a sc or dc foundation row.
I’ll have to try this. I usually make my chain and crochet into the back hump and it gives you a nice finish on the bottom.
Once I tried this sc and dc foundation rows, I was hooked. Pun intended. lol
How do you join another colour to do a scarf o blanket
My video that I am posting next Monday, I briefly explain how to switch over to another yarn. But I can certainly create a video in the future specifically addressing this. Thanks for the idea!!!
So nice will try it out
Yeah!! Let me know how it works for you!!
What about the half double crochet? How would you do that? I am trying to crochet a Crochet hook holder and I am having a hard time getting it started. Actually I am having a hard time starting anything that has the first instruction - Chain (number of chains) to start the project. I go for patterns that have a small number of starting chains.
Start at the timestamp 14:38, where I begin the double crochet (dc) instructions. The half double crochet (hdc) is very similar to the dc. Then, skip to 18:25, where I briefly explain the hdc. If you'd like a little more practice, I use the hdc foundation row in the phone sleeve/glasses case video at the timestamp 7:00: th-cam.com/video/OfXwtPRondY/w-d-xo.html. When converting a chain foundation to an hdc foundation row, you’ll need to account for the turning chains. Typically, the turning chains in the foundation chain count as a stitch. When working the hdc foundation row, you'll create the base chain and the first hdc stitch simultaneously. Ensure you adjust the total stitch count by excluding any turning chains from the original foundation chain count. This allows you to maintain the correct number of stitches while using the hdc foundation method.
WOW luv it
Thanks!!!
I taught myself to crochet 56 yrs ago and have always been frustrated by long starting chains. I found the stacked double crochet and I’m hooked. The filet crochet I was going to start soon required 360+sts boy did it go fast once I mastered the technique. I’ll never do a foundation chain again. Love that 50+yrs later there is still new things to learn.
Wow!!! 56 years, I thought my 20 something was a long time. Go you!! Yes, I also do the stacked double and treble crochets. It makes your work look so much better. That will be a video in the future, although I have hinted at it a couple of times, lol. Glad to see you here, happy crocheting!!!
That's awesome, I'll have to look it up 😊
I know what you mean lol . Im 62 and just learning to crochet. I think when your younger you dont have time or patience . Too many things and people pulling at you. When your in hour 60s. Its time for your own pursuits.. im having a hard time with this. But i will persevere
You must be kidding me... Wow... Mind blowing 😯 Seriously Mo... I don't know how to thank you for this technique. I'm glad you're sharing it with crochet lovers. Thank you 🙏
I learned foundation single crochet years ago and no ibdo all different stitches foundation I don't like the chain stitch
Very helpful, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
