Getting to know this bike riding up Tustin to Motel Row on 1st Street over to Grand and up to Chestnut to some alleys and finally Main Santa Ana to MacArthur and Michelson in Irvine. Issues thus far are, the display/controls still need to be looked at to see if we can get this dialed in, it's not indicating proper speed or distances. The pedal ...

be safe out there man! watching your videos brings back some sweet memories for me. my old commute for a couple years was from tustin (red hill/edinger) to fountain valley (brookhurst/edinger) i did the escooter/ebike/road bike route in all weather conditions and man, some days were tough, but man commuting on the road bike gave me iron legs lol!
If ur still having brake issues while u ride , may i suggest keeping the 2 hexagonal screws on the outside of the brakepad a little loose ..it may help u cause my windhorse had the same noise & now i don't hear anything.
P.s. it's just a temporary fix of course until u can get new brake pads...also I've noticed with gentle "ghost pedaling" the sensor on the bike will keep u going at the speed u want without using any throttle, I know it sounds weird peddling when ur really not but the cadence sensor does sense it.
I was riding my bike to work until i got laid off on october 29, ever since job hunting has been rough lots of rejections. commuting from santa ana to irvine
@@shadowflame7148 good luck on the job hunt. I hope you find something better and with higher pay!
That's funny, my Uncle used to race stock cars before he got into drag racing.
@@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFE That’s awesome, it was big back in the 70s and early 80s they were beat up old cars racing dirt oval tracks and asphalt. My mom was 5’ tall and raced while she was pregnant! Sitting on pillows and phonebooks I was told. When we moved to the country there was a track called Rockyhill Speedway, I spent a lot of time there. In the late 90s I lived in Adelanto and hung around the races out there too. It’s definitely a lot of fun from what I remember. Lots of beer drinking.
What time of day was this? I was riding the same trail but South behind you. I enter and exit on Warner. I was just thinking of exiting Edinger last Sunday because I parked on Edinger and Euclid. I ended up exiting Warner anyway
@@on2play736 This would have been around 11:30 to noon I believe, I was the nerdy guy on the army green bike mumbling to himself
@@occommuter I just exited half an hour before that time
That was a fast ride. If only they put a protected bike lane for the full stretch of Red Hill you'd never be late for work 😂
@@me12722 Yeah when it warms up I’ll have some faster rides. So yes Red Hill Express Route project is what we need, 💯 protected probably from Irvine to Main Street by John Wayne, that would be very nice. TBH the evenings have been challenging for me on a stress level, there is not one route that is safe without going miles out of my way. The general temperament of the General Public has been hostile lately, it’s like a strange fever everyone has fallen under. Warzone
Yeah occ 😂😂 it do be so cold 🥶 like freezing , it's a difference when the bike pushing you against air with a motor rather than normal bike peddling 😂💯💯
@@JaylinMccune-ld5ei you’re not joking locked up I might jump on the gravel bike 🚴 tomorrow, hell yeah
When I used slime many many years ago, it was a temporary fix. It never held up, but it was good enough to get me home. That was used on a regular bike with skinny tires. If your tires were tubeless, a bacon plug would work much better.
Is that yr 3.0 rebuilt or diff Ebike the cockpit looks diff ?
It’s a different bike, it’s a Windhorse WO, making payments on it, $18 a week. I’m still going to fix the Lectric if I ever $250
@ looks nice cruise
👍✌️
If you like to peddle, or get exercise, you definitely want a torque sensor. The throttle will give you the same benefit as a cadence sensor.
If I unsubscribed because of squeaky brakes, I'd have to quit my TH-cam career and delete my channel or I'd be the biggest hypocrite on TH-cam, lol.
@@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFE hahaha 😂 the plight of the squeaky brake, it’s like when I was growing up. It seems like every car we ever had overheated.
I was gonna suggest that you take the river up to Yorba Linda on a weekend ride.
@@me12722 Okay you got it, I’ve been wanting to check out the old cemetery there too, I think it’s only open on Tuesday but weekends are my only option, I can still peer through the gates, I’ll plan it out, thank you for the suggestion!
Beautiful day for a ride! Nice to see some random streets. Keep up the good!
Yes it was a beautiful day 100, thank you 🙏 I appreciate you checking it out and your positive comment, especially since someone unsubscribed after this video 👍
Yeah it's amazing what'll cause a flat. I had an actual flat nosed bolt go through my tire. It was a short and fat bolt too.
@@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFE yikes brutal!
creaking and squeaking 😂up the trail
Slime is worth every penny. I have future plans of putting some puncture proof liner inside my tires, strips that go between the tire and tube. I'm going to triple down on flat prevention with extra thick tubes, puncture resistant liners and slime.
Heck yeah we want to roll not walk
Had a flat yesterday, was like a 2--3 inch nail. Luckily was like 1 mile away from home of a 24 mile ride, so just walked it. The stuff we hit would of took out a car tire so there is no avoiding it.
Yeah there’s no easy recovery from that, I got taken out by a nail like that, the worst, tore my tube
There he is! Geared up good lookin’ guy watch out world! 🥳🚴♂️

I haven’t seen many LikeBike videos out there, I’m about to film more with my Gopro Hero soon and some drone shots as well. How are you liking the WindHorse e-bike so far ?
@@CraigScottProductions Yeah same for the Windhorse, but it’s all good as long as it keeps rolling and I guess stopping. That would be cool to see some footage from your area, have you been able to get any riding in lately ? I really like this Windhorse I was prepared to ride something very bad so I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely different than the Lectric so I’m happy to broaden my range of experience.
@ been busy musically and my regular routine. The weather here changes so quickly and it’s getting dark earlier . We have a cold front coming this weekend . I’ll def ride that day
Finally someone who has Windhorse videos!!! I been observing your windhorse videos & have subscribed, it makes me very happy cause I have a Windhorse wave 1 & I absolutely love my Windhorse bike... I get the same issues with the brakes too ( cause there not that great ) but other then that I would say there very underrated for an ebike.. much respect for u brother & I personally think u made a good choice of getting Windhorse brand..thanks for making videos
Awesome man thank you for subscribing we are trying to get to that 1000 sub milestone! Yes I could also not find any Windhorse videos, a few, but nothing substantial but so far so good, I really like the bike and we will be putting it through the ringer for sure. I will be finding some good pads for this bike, I will let you know what I find, thanks again
@@occommuterur welcome brother , I'm with u every step of the way & feel that i can relate since i have a windhorse as well .. thank u for ur time & for the reply back.
Is your Lectric out of commission for good or will you be fixing it at some point?Having 2 ebikes makes life alot easier when one of them needs to be fixed....At least for me it is
@@abelperez2931 It’s out of commission temporarily, it has around 7400 miles on it but I know it still has some life in it. The batteries, I have 2, only get me about 20 miles a charge but that’s perfect to commute. I love that bike I just need a chunk of $ to get that motor. I have a big family to take care of, the bike I just got is $18 a week so it was the best option to keep me electrified.
I would be burning up in all those layers at that temperature. lol Indiana winters I'm used to 20's and 30's. The coldest I've commuted in has been single digits, but those days are pretty rare and few and far between.
Hahaha 😂 yeah I always say Southern California Cold, on the gravel bike I only need the wind breaker after a few miles
Were used to year round 80+ average
I definitely would not worry about what people think about where you ride sidewalk or road. I personally do a lot of sidewalk riding even though there is a bike lane ride next to me. The bottom line is I do not trust drivers to be paying attention.
@@Storm177 yes self preservation, thank you. I’m working on being a safer rider.
I use 3m safety glasses for cold weather. They fit tighter around the eyes.
@@trailrideadventures Awesome I will check those out for sure, thank you
2:00 I recognize alot of the area because I used to deliver for Amazon. That was my daily route, all the way to Chapman university. I wonder if they’re done building the Popeyes next to McDonald’s. I would take my breaks there all the time.
@@Dmatis-n4z awesome yeah popeyes is done I haven’t had it yet but my family has they like it
A true crime segment where you go to locations and talk about the history would be cool
@@kylar9852 okay 👍 I have one in mind but it’s a little brutal and not from too long ago maybe I will start working on it, not sure if I should separate it from this channel probably not I’m trying to get to a 1000 subs and maybe this would help, thank you for the feedback
You definitely see things much better from the sidewalk.
I knew one could get by on a bike in Orange County. I grew up in Orange County but I feel like I have never seen it like this before; it's a good vantage point. I didn't realize Hart Park connected Orange and Santa Ana like that. OcCommuter, I wanted to hear your opinion on something. Do you think more people biking would be good for small businesses?
@@me12722 I think it definitely could depending on the city, like all these small food spots in Orange and Santa Ana or along these long cycling routes in OC could actually cater to cyclists and eBikes, they could promote a discount for cyclists to draw them in along their travels.
@ I just feel like Orange County has a lot of interesting spots in strip malls that are easy to miss when driving. I think people generally prefer to go to places with lots of parking so it’s harder to explore and find hidden gems but who knows.
@ yeah it’s totally true. When I first moved to Orange I was surprised at some of the restaurants in the strip malls that we would find because yeah when you look at the façade, it just looks like a boring place but then you get inside and the atmosphere is awesome and food is good
Black Labs are so annoying, all they want to do is to fetch like not in a good way they are to the point of being psychotic.
Those one-wheeled vehicles that you see are called electric unicycles (EUCs). I used to ride one but stopped because they are pretty dangerous. Crashing on those without gear could seriously hurt you, and most high end EUCs go 35mph and some even higher than that
@@kylar9852 Those things are definitely intense, yeah you’d have to have so much gear and to commute on one would be insane, maybe an off-road one on a trail, I would do that, I’m cool with a bike maybe a scooter, scooter are crazy too, that one John Hicks got goes like 80, I’m cool in the 20-28 range haha
are there any group rides in santa ana or oc?
I seen a ig page of bike rides that go down in SA but can’t find it on IG
@@maybemooftm4294 I haven’t looked into it yet but there’s a bike shop on 1st Street that might organize something like that, I’ll keep an eye out, I was invited to join a group awhile back but they go all over OC and LA and I think Vegas
New bike day! Looking good
@@kylar9852 Thank you 🙏
Damn…
Did you reach out to Lectric to replace the motor? Nice channel, keep it up!
@@TailHappyTV Thanks man I appreciate it, I tried several times, even a few of my subs contacted them on their own (a lot of my subs ride Lectric now) and they wouldn’t budge because it was out of warranty by a month, business is business I guess, I’m still saving for the motor, I really love/miss that bike
It’s good to see you back on an e-bike! 👍🏻 Was this on Thursday? I ask because Friday (yesterday) was very windy (and a bit chilly) and I decided to not ride to work that day (HB to Irvine). Do you have a Friday video coming?
Hey man, thank you, good to hear from you, yeah this is from Thursday, and I do have a morning video ready from Friday and one in queue for the ride home, I’ll publish the morning one right now I always have a few videos ready but I don’t want to overwhelm everyone, it was very cold and windy on Friday afternoon, I think I wore 2 shirts, 1 long sleeve hooded, a windbreaker and a jacket haha chilly
The yellow liqorice tasting plant is a fennel plant. They have frongs that look like dill and have flowers. The whole plant is edible, including the root bulb.
@@eugenehuang3992 ahh okay thanks I didn’t know that, interesting I wonder if the homeless eat them hahaha 😂 might have some health benefits thank you
That's so cool you ride here. I just moved back into the area and never used to ride much while I lived here. Now I'm running and riding all over, but not so sure where the safest streets are. Lots of interesting folks along the Santiago Creek near the bridge off Chapman and all throughout the Santa Ana River trail. I run through those parts on Tustin where you get your energy shot. Just started the video!
@@eugenehuang3992 hey what’s up man thanks for checking out the channel and commenting, I really have a lot of fun exploring these streets and neighborhoods, I’ve been doing this for well over a year and haven’t had any problems, hahaha the creek trail is a trip for sure, thanks again buddy
These tires on amazon fit ebike's and its what is needed for the road ...........Vee Tire Co E-Huntsman 20 x 4.0 Ebike Tire, 593544, Black
Your display on the battery reminds me of a car I once had. The first half a tank would seem to be lasting forever but once it read half a tank it would go to empty super fast.
Yeah that’s not good until you get to know it, growing up my dad would keep track of the miles on his truck on a piece of paper with a magnet on the dash, using an old pencil sharpened with a pocket knife to write it down
I kind of want to start riding on sidewalks now. There's just not enough of them around where I live. A lot of them aren't even wheelchair accessible so no ramps. I think it would make my rides and videos more interesting.
I really like sidewalk footage, I like rolling within all the features, are you close to downtown? There’s probably a lot of street people activity you could capture too
The review is gonna be how long this thing lasts! Haha can’t get any more practical than that! Oh no that light is useless lol. These kinda bikes must be the new thing, I just watched a vid of a $1,600 Mokweel Slate folding bike that seems pretty similar. And I kinda want one cuz I know it’d be fun for cruising! Ride safe brah! 🥳
@@LinderToob Hahaha 😂 that’s right how long can it keep up with me, the Grind. And yes the light is not good, just a warning that I’m creeping in the dark. They make a Pro model of this with a crown fork and a massive front spotlight and hydraulic brakes, I just went with the cheaper one because that’s my budget, I pay $18 a week for the bike, it’s from Purchasing Power my only way to get a bike quick. There’s definitely a lot of bikes like this, I agree. They have a storefront in Huntington Beach so that’s why I picked it.
NICE bike!! what are you going to do with your old bike?
@@rprado745 Thanks man we’ll see, I’m still going to fix the the Lectric, not sure when but still trying to rat hole some feria, Santa Ana tomorrow night brother
12:20 Looks like the radar speed sign is closer to the iPhone speed app than the Windhorse's built in odometer. But it is refreshing to see the quick acceleration and higher top speeds than the Ozark Trail bike. That jostling around of the battery can't be good. Maybe there's some foam or something that can cushion the battery?
@@kettlekorn471 Yeah it’s nice to be rolling electric again, and yes the battery thing is not good, that’s the same battery set up as the Lectric, I have some closed cell adhesive foam I can put on the battery, I use electrical tape on the other bike but it breaks down and gets melty and difficult to remove.
So this bike is faster than the Lectric 3.0 or just accelerates faster?
@@abelperez2931 it just accelerates faster on throttle only, top speed I can go faster on the Lectric when pedaling, the Lectric is much more intuitive to ride and speed and pedal assist are progressive and controlled a lot better but I don’t know anything about this bike I just put it together and started riding it
Besides my Lectric 3.0,I have a Pedego Element and it also accelerates faster on throttle only but the Lectric has a faster top speed with peddle assist. My Pedego tops out at 20 mph but can't be unlocked.I enjoy both Ebikes. The Pedego has a 5 year warranty which is better than the 1 year warranty for Lectric
@ That’s awesome, having a good warranty like that is totally key to an eBike purchase, especially if you’re on a budget. I’m not sure what the warranty is on this bike probably a year
you are gonna kill that motor and battery if you stay in 7th gear like you did you need a quick shifter automatic shifter
@@chrisnieves8974 Okay thank you 🙏, I need to use my gears low to high as I increase speed and pedal assist rather than starting in 7th gear in PAS5? it’s intuitive but I didn’t really think about that causing motor and battery issues
