HELLO ARE THESE COMPRESSOR WHEELS THE SAME AS ONE IN A SMALL TURBINE JET ENGINE
I have the turbo shaft moving forwards and backwards. turbo hs? car works well
Amazing informative video 👏 thank you
This didn’t make your air intake temps crazy high? I’m getting 140-150 in traffic with my piping kit.. does that hurt the turbo?
Why would it move side to side alot
did u figure that out?
thank you so much bro it was very informative.....
Great video explaining the differences between a 270 degree thrust bearing and a 360 degree one. Thank you.
That’s it….
👍
What turbo is on the white truck?
so the video says can boost leaks cause turbo overspeed. That would've been cool to get that question answered but I'm pretty sure 30 seconds from the end of the video you said a couple words about it and that was all. I'm gonna scour and find more can anybody answer the question will a boost leak. It's a very simple answer. Of course there's a bunch of different circumstances where this may not happen or it may happen worse for others, but is the answer yes, it's just that simple will overspill your turbo. If you have a leak fix it if you have a boost leak your turbo getting damaged.
Not truck related but what if you have a turbo that has a electric actuator that controls the waste gate and the turbo is failing and over boosting would this cause oil to go though the air intake? My car has a ccv which I have replaced and I can see little oil to the turbo from there there which I believe is in the normal range. My turbo actuator makes a buzzing noise and boost is strange I think it's over boosting. My exhaust dpf and air intake throttle is getting covered in a alot of oil and I believe this is cause my diesel car to missfire also. I have a oil leak externally that I believe is under the turbo so be either the turbo or feed/return I'm not sure yet till I dismantle. I don't think I have excessive crank case pressure, I just don't understand why so much oil is going through the turbo as it can only get there from the feed. If it was over boosting as I mention would this do this? Or does this seem like it's a common case of turbo seals failing? My only gripe with oil seals failing is why is it also leaking externally.
Sweet video thank you
Which s300 are these im trying to get one for mine but i dont know which is a good size
All different sizes in this video. What do you use the truck for and what is your power goal?I can recommend a size for you.
@@MDCDiesel just a daily driver that sometimes i have a little fun with. Nothin major. I was told imma have to headstud my engine and do other things so idk now
Would a badly leaking exhaust flange just before the turbine cause heavy oil leaks on the compressor side? Enough to fill the cooler? Had an IX35 over run on me with a recon turbo fitted. Everything checks out, return, feed, case pressure, case vent, air filter. Only thing I noticed is the exhaust flange of the turbo was leaking where the bolts let go. I assume high RPM with minimal gases going past the turbine not spinning the compressor fast enough to create pressure, would suffer vacuum and suck the oil out? I dunno, it's driving me a bit mad. Never had a turbo fitment go wrong.
Great video. Thanks.
brilliant
are you guys close to coming out with a s366sxe comp r wheel anytime soon?
Awesome vid. Answered all my questions and got straight to the interesting points.
Well my turbo is smoked… 😢, thanks for the info
Thanks for the breakdown. If i can scrape the extra couple hundred bucks I'm going with the race wheel.
Is this turbo a holset housing or something different. The 75hp injectors you recommend are they your brand built in house by you. I believe I read you use or sell ducky injectors. I really like the looks of this set up. Especially where you offer upgrades in bearings. I'd appreciate some information. I've been watching all your TH-cam videos your very informative. 1999 vp44, Mads electronics s03, banks cold air, flowmaster 4"stainless turbo t tip 70 series mufflers. MDC logo is badass. I'd be grateful for any information.
Hello, We are the manufacturer of this turbo. We do not use any holset components. It is setup to fit like stock. The injectors we use are ducky injectors. We have a combo kit that works great on these trucks that includes this turbo and those injectors. Here is the link www.mdcdiesel.com/products/tm450
Thank you for this video!!!!!! My turbo is leaking from hot side. Just fixed my oil drain fitting in the oil and and if it still leaks I’ll do a rebuild. But I did buy a new center cartridge just in case.
great video! Thank you :)
Good information. I wish i knew that before i got my new turbo. I will now put on a new pair of pants
Excellent video very informative 👍
I have a new turbo on my truck, previous turbos were leaking bad. I’m getting oil at the intake plenum area by the grid heater. What are the chances this is from just oil buildup being pushed through the intercooler?
What size turbo is that?
This one was a 369
@@MDCDiesel thank you for the feedback I’ll be getting one from you soon !
how does it compare to a k27?
This is a little larger than a K27. A k27 is closer in size to the stock hx35. Side by side the EZ drop in with the appropriate fueling is going to make more power than a k27 and shouldn’t spool really any different.
Anyone happen to have a video of this turbo on a dyno run?
just had a compressor/turbo blow in a diesel car, garage put a camera on the boost side, fins are all damaged, after watching your video i understand now that the shaft is moving side to side hence the damage, not sure if theres a boost leak, watched loads of turbo videos recently but this was clearly explained and not too technical, the garage said it could be crankcase pressure as well,€2,700 euros to replace btw.thanks
This is literally the only video you will need to watch if your turbo has ANY end float, an excellent explanation 👍
I’m just wondering how these swaps do in the cold I have a 08 6.7 and live in Canada where -40 in the winter is pretty common
Great video, I bought a S261sx-e, lasted a month. Im running 600bhp at 2.7bar. Just upgraded the thrust from a 270 to a 360°. See how it goes. If it goes again. It means im pushing the turbo too fast. Will have to get a bigger turbo as i can't live without high boost.
Finding oil in the hot part is the seal only failed because haven't pleat front and back. How to seal the cold part is used gasket or RTV. I found white stuck stuff but don't know hat is if is a gasket how is called this type. Thank You Sir
how about for dual ball bearing turbo?
What’s the max boost
We set these around 30-35psi. They can be adjusted up into the 40’s however they are most efficient under 40psi
Commenting for support
Commenting for support
Does it need any fuel mods to support this turbo or this can be drop in stock truck and go?
Hello, this turbo can be run on stock fuel but works best with 75hp over injectors.
Sound very nice
Too much smoke. More air for all that fuel
Straight to the point and very well explained! Seeing the turbo cutaway like that was very helpful in understand how lubrication and bearing work. I always appreciate these educational videos that don't have a bunch of shouting, music and annoying messing around. Thank you!
That's what's up my man. Straight to the point.
Yo u recomend s363 or 366 for stock fuel inj and just tuner ?
Either would work. However an s363 would be better if the trucks primary use is towing.
Nice! Does the 363 put out a lil more power? And i do some towing on it often but not everyday
@@Jaymunozjr yes an s363 will support around 100hp more than stock
Good explanation very helpful...i got my surplus turbo....and i saw it on your explanation i thought its not good bcoz it has a play side by side.. According to you its ok....thanks ...
What about when you have your crankcase vented to atmosphere with breather but CcV still intact (recently replaced as well), and you get white smoke until it rises in temperature? Pickup is deleted 6.7, assuming the turbine side oil seal is compromised? VGT seems to function flawlessly, was deleted at 35k and showed up around 60k
Mine is fine I just feel shaft play side to side which is normal but I see scratches on the sides which does not look good
Hi, I have a reconditioned one, the problem is the shaft, it touches the housing when moved side ways. only on one side, the other side does not move up to the wall/housing. Without moving sideways it does working/spins freely. No in/out play at all.
Exactly how mine is
so why the thrust bearing erode? Oil lubricantion not enough?
Most thrust bearings failures occur when the shaft speed exceeds its limits. Meaning the shaft spins so fast that the oil is ejected from the bearing faster than the oil is replaced.
@@MDCDiesel what i found with my turbo, the oil feed inlet restriction adapter hole size 1mm..maybe not suitable for journal bearing
I clocked a turbo now it's rubbing ?
