HOT CITY Disco Television Show - #8 (October 1978)
Disco Music & Disco Dancing
‘Hot City’ was taped in Los Angeles and these shows bring back the true experiences of what the Disco era was like in Disco clubs around the country . . . the clothes, the hair, the makeup, the moves, the sexuality, and the ‘attitude’. So step into a real time machine and disco the night away - and just remember that all these energetic couples are now in their 60’s and 70’s so dance while you can.

In 1978 I was the Manager of 3M Graphics Systems Television Network and the ½” VHS video tape format was new in the United States. While developing 3M magnetic tape for this new format we would evaluate different formulation lots by recording off-air programs. I recently found a box of these test tapes that are now over 40 years old. I’ve uploaded them for your enjoyment . . . and please excuse the occasional tape wrinkles, drop-outs, mis-tracking and jump cuts.
During the height of disco-mania in August of 1978 a syndicate TV show called ‘Hot City’ was produced by Kip Walton and began airing on Metromedia stations across the country on Saturday nights at 8PM.
The show’s format called for guest appearances by acts including Frankie Valli, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Peter Brown, Eddie Kendricks, Linda Clifford, and Grace Jones. It also featured disco dancers and a disco dance contest. The choreographed dance numbers were by Jeff Kutash and his Dancers, called the ‘Hot City’ Stutters.
Producer Walton was seeking to capitalize on the “Saturday Night Fever” phenomenon on TV before it had a chance to fade. Not new to music and dance, Walton’s track record included five years producing and directing ‘Bandstand’ at Dick Clark Productions, as well as “Where the Action Is”, Mama Cass’ “Get It Together” and “Happening”. One of his earliest solo efforts was packaging “Pop,” an ABC youth special starring Davy Jones, the Osmonds and Mike Curb.
And, for all the dancers who participated in these shows and are now in their 60’s & 70’s, hope you enjoy the look back.

Love Connection 1988 - The 1,000th Show
มุมมอง 129K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the 1,000th Love Connection show recorded during the Christmas season in 1988 and featured the details of Stephen Taylor and Judy Kjos date. Judy and her sister had an act when they were young called the 'Whipper Snappers'. They would use bull whips on stage to entertain audiences and needless to say, Stephen was on his best behavior after learning both sisters were experts with the bul...
Really good quality recording...thank you, love watching again... and Chuck Woolery is the best! Absolutely loved the surprise ending...wonderful to hear of the success of some of the "love connection" couples.
16 marriages ! Wow! Also what an adorable baby!!!
The commercials. Nostalgic
Wow only recently became aware of this GEM of show!! Looks like only about 15 episodes max yet actually find this way superior to Dance Fever & Solid Gold!! They had all the A listers & legends on & top notch production etc...Possibly didn't work due to over saturation of this genre?

Disco is truly the best dance music.
That lineup of Musique werent the girls who sang on the album. The same with Bionic Boogie who were miming to thier hits here on TH-cam. All these disco acts were studio creations
"In the Bush" and "Keep on Jumping" of Musique at the 20:01 😍😍😍😍😍😍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 "Dance Disco Heat" of Sylvester at The 29:55 🙂🙂🙂🙂👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍
Loved this! I was just a kid but it was everything.. my parents owned a bar .. so weekends us kids were up watching all sorts of things.. i remember just loving this and thinking about how wonderful it would be to be with all these people.. later when i was in my 20’s I found my way to NYC and gosh I LIVED!!! WOW
Sylvester!! KILLING IT! Awesome awesome talent up there .. Weather Girls superb!!
Oh gosh this brings me back to my childhood.. I just loved everything about this window of time.
The obnoxiousness and generally goofy self-absorbed behavior exhibited on dance programs like this fueled the hatred of disco and the "disco sucks" movement that was spawned because of it. Of course the vapid moronic lyrics - like "Keep on Jumpin" - ha, ha - and other disco songs were a major catalyst for the hate.
The Best times.
