Great to hear from Dave before the tour.. The only thing I'd like to hear about that wasn't hear was plans around new music.. For those of us in the know we're all aware of the fact that the album was actually completed back in early 2021.. But was delayed by Covid and the Ellefson situation.. To late 2022.. So it has now been around 3 years since Megadeth completed an album.. We understand from past interviews that Dave sees touring an album as a 2 year thing.. With 2024 being the second year in support of The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! Since release.. It would be interesting to see when Dave might be thinking of entering the studio and what to expect from a future release and the things the guys in the band have already brought to the table.. Just a little sprinkling of an idea there would be nice.. But its good to hear that Teemu is fitting in well and Dave is impressed with his abilities and range.. Dave hints here that the reason Megadeths set didn't expand to include other songs is because of Kiko.. At least that seems to be something Dave wants to point out here that the band is making large adjustments to the set and their flexibility to play a more wider pool of songs.. This is something fans are requesting.. Dave is implying that now with Teemu that's possible to do. Now I can only speculate but I sense that Kikos leave was something that probably came up much earlier possibly during the making of The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! But Dave fought to keep Kiko in the band.. But its become impossible now that a break needed to happen.. Kiko is distracted by his family whilst on tour and prep.. Megadeth at this level at this point needs full commitment.. Kiko can't do that anymore he wants to focus on his family. Dave wants him to focus on his family and be happy with that.. Megadeth will more forward it has moved forward before and can again.. Mustaine trusts Kikos judgement with Teemu and having played a tour of the US with him and worked on this tour for South America with him new setlists.. He is impressed.. Teemu seems to learn very quickly and will do very well with Megadeth if he like Dirk and Kiko before him come in with the determination that Megadeth remains an untapped creative project.. Because it is.. Each lineup has the chance to make a defining album or era.. Kiko and Adler/Dirk did that.. Teemu must think the same when creatively composing in the band on a future release.
