The real-life catalyst was the replacement of friendship with formality, the loss of a best friend who wanted to ‘downsize’ our friendship to “We’ll just see each other once a week at church.” I very much wanted to find a way to be ok with that, so some remnant of the friendship would survive. Wrote most of this in 2005 on the way home from a summer basketball camp as a soon to be Jr in High School. Wrote the ending 4 years later. It explains some of what I felt as I struggled with suicide as a teenager and later in life. Thankfully God has brought me to a better place today. :)
