Yes repaired in afloat is possible if your vessel can trim.
Requirement on allowable wastage diameter from nominal diameter is based on which class society?

How many links are check in a cable length? Any regulation on that? Because i dont think inspector check every link on a length?
Thats why it layup to find out wasted or corroded links, each and every shuckels are checked by surveyor
