      @@ThomasesLaceys Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact, any money you keep in cash or a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow. Unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will have enough money to retire.

      It is the safest in terms of very low risk. Stocks and real estate make more over long periods of time or even over short term sometimes, but they can fluctuate on a month to month basis

    Magical investments such as Roth, E-trade, and rental property incomes...silly assumptions for a general analysis. BY FAR, most people will have just 401K and Soc Sec. Either way, the math checks, but nothing too advanced.

      I think it is probably a fairly outdated rule at this point. Especially with inflation at the current levels, probably not many people using this method anymore
